Back in June, I had heard of a patch
that would be supposedly be the best modification for FIFA
2000. Considering that I had been convinced that Abisai
Martinez's Verano 2000 2 patch was the only patch I needed,
when I learned Abisai's patch would be actually put into
North America, I knew that it could only be all of Abisai's
patch and more. However, nothing could prepare me for what
I was about to experience. I didn't expect such a different
look.
Menus
Once getting through the installation and ready to start
playing it, the differences were instantly notable. The
menu screens had been completely modified. This was a good
sign. Once I started the actual match between DC United
and Atlas, I knew the world of patchmaking was going to
be taught a lesson....
Popup Graphics
and InGame Graphics
The first thing to call my attention were the lush ESPN
graphics which made an accurate resemblance of the ones
actually used in MLS games. Then, the turfs had me in awe.
Shai Ziv created an excellent turfs pack to accompany the
patch, and then it was hard to forget I wasn't playing EA
Sport's latest game.

Kits
The lush 128 color kits of the clubs from the MLS and Mexican
Primera Division were so real that you could touch them.
The jersey artists did a fabulous job of recreating the
kits the clubs used, and it was fantastic to note that the
artists spared absolutely no detail on the kits. All 30
kits in the patch were of high quality. The goalie kits,
unfortunately, were unrealistic. But the team noticed this
promptly after release, and they themselves created some
new MLS goalie kits and used the short sleeves patch that
had been released a little earlier to remedy the problem.

Stadiums
All I can say is,"Wow." MLS complimentary stadiums and Mexican
league stadiums were thrown in, but they didn't stop at
this. In the patch were included some of the GREATEST stadiums
ever built for FIFA 2000. The home side for all the MLS
teams were included, and in it they had many of the team
logos and banners, and it was just amazing. The Mexican
league stadiums that were used from the Mexico FIFALA 2000
website are also realistic, and they complimented the patch
nicely. The stadiums had new adboards, and the pitch totalled
it up to making a realistic environment.

.dbi files
The rosters were up to date in the MLS, Mexican, and Costa
Rican leagues upon initial release (the version I am reviewing.)
Some errors committed from the original dbi files packaged
in the FIFA 2000 CD were fixed and the fresh, new, updated
rosters came packaged with this patch. Unlike FIFA 2000
originally, in MLS 2000: North America you can play in season
mode with the Major League and also with both the Mexican
and Costa Rican leagues. Also added are the CONCACAF Champions
Cup and the World Cup 2002. Nice finishing touches to the
.dbi files, but with this patch loaded to your game you
can expect a totally different experience, with the different
cups you can play and the new kits and the virtually real
environment in which you play it in.
