Vive o 2004! - Greece kings of Europe |
Greece pulled off arguably the biggest shock at a major football championship as a goal by Angelos Charisteas gave them victory at UEFA EURO 2004™. Having begun the tournament as 80-1 outsiders, the achievement of Otto Rehhagel's team of European journeymen is hard to put into perspective, but once again the belief they have shown in themselves throughout this amazing adventure was too strong for their opponents.
Portugal thus became the first host nation to lose a UEFA European Championship final and they will have to wait at least another two years to claim their first senior title. For the likes of Luís Figo and Rui Costa it was an agonising end to glittering international careers, but the Portuguese players can still look back with pride on the joy they have provided for their supporters over the past three weeks. Final result: Portugal 0 v 1 Greece Check out the full match report by clicking here and see the goals from the game in fantastic virtual reality by using the BBC's Virtual Replay system. And that is it, UEFA EURO 2004™ has come and gone and now it is back to normal life again. Vive o 2004 Celebration Day - Stage set for Europe's best |
Today we celebrate what has been an excellent UEFA EURO 2004™ where having the best players has not been the recipe to success, but where a well organised team has shone through. This has been echoed especially by Czech Republic and today's finalists, Greece. All the news we have today celebrates the final of this very successful tournament. The final of UEFA EURO 2004™ may be missing some of Europe's finest players, but the two best teams of the tournament, and the two best coaches, will go head to head at the Estádio da Luz on Sunday to decide who will wear the crown of European champions for the next four years. It has been a tournament of surprises, of wonderful goals, the odd controversy and glorious celebration: courtesy of the Portuguese and the Greeks, the partying has spread far beyond the continent's boundaries. The only pity is that supporters of these two fanatical footballing nations will not be able to celebrate together after the final as someone has to lose, penalties or not. To celebrate the final we have the kits of the 2 teams for you to add to your game to enhance the excitement and realism of your copy of UEFA Euro 2004™. | | | Portugal | 19:45 GMT | Greece | Click on the team shirts above to download the excellent kits from our partners over at FifaX.net. Vive o 2004! - Dellas delight stuns Czechs |
Greece will play Portugal in the final of UEFA EURO 2004™ after Traianos Dellas' header in added time at the end of the first half of silver goal extra time knocked out the Czech Republic.
The goal that settled a dramatic and entertaining second semi-final in Porto eventually arrived in the 106th minute as Vassilios Tsiartis swung over a corner, and Dellas nipped in to steer in a header at the near post and send the Greeks and their fans into ecstasy, and a totally unexpected final appearance. Vive o 2004! - Czechs wise to Greek surprise |
After arriving in Portugal without a win at a major championship, Greece are one game away from the UEFA EURO 2004™ showpiece, although they must first overcome the competition's form team, the Czech Republic, on Thursday night. The Czechs come to the Estádio do Dragão in Porto with the supreme confidence that four straight wins brings. Squad morale is also high thanks to coach Karel Brückner's man-management skills. All but one player - third-choice goalkeeper Antonín Kinský - has been given a run-out at the finals. However, Greece will also feel positive, especially as they return to the stadium where they silenced hosts Portugal on the opening day. Vive o 2004! - Maniche has final say |
Portugal became the first host nation since France in 1984 to qualify for the final of the UEFA European Championship after a headed goal by Ronaldo and a stunning strike from Maniche saw off the challenge of the Netherlands despite Jorge Andrade's own goal.
Just as their opponents did 16 years ago, Portugal's feat was achieved after losing their opening match, but since that defeat by Greece Luiz Felipe Scolari's men have grown in stature and tonight, led by Luís Figo, inspired by Deco and anchored by a resolute defence they were worthy winners. Vive o 2004! - Remedy at the ready in Lisbon |
For one team it will be a severe case of déjà vu; for the other, a four-year-old wound will be healed when the two losing semi-finalists from EURO 2000™ come face to face on Wednesday night for a place in the final of UEFA EURO 2004™. In a tournament that has generally rewarded the adventurous and punished the cautious, it is appropriate that Portugal and the Netherlands have reached this stage despite the initial misgivings of their respective coaches. Baroš brings down Danes |
Two second-half goals from Milan Baroš and a header from Jan Koller proved too much for Denmark and powered the Czech Republic into the semi-finals of UEFA EURO 2004™, where they will meet Greece on Thursday.
A scoreless and tense first half did not set the tone for the deluge of goals that followed, but Koller set the Czechs on their way four minutes into the second period when he rose unchallenged to head Karel Poborský's corner past Thomas Sørensen in the Danish goal. Vive o 2004! - Danes alive to Czech threat |
Denmark will decide on the fitness of striker Ebbe Sand at the last possible minute as Morten Olsen's side prepare to face the Czech Republic in the UEFA EURO 2004™ quarter-finals, with a place in the last four against Greece at stake. The Czechs will be hoping to extend their winning sequence to nine matches in the competition stretching back to the qualifying round. In that sequence, the Czechs have scored two or more goals in every game, and have come from behind on five occasions. With no injury concerns, coach Karel Brückner will restore his star players to the starting lineup having rested them for the final group game against Germany as the Czechs had already secured first place. Dutch delight in shoot-out |
After a dramatic penalty shoot-out, the Netherlands advanced to a UEFA EURO 2004™ semi-final against Portugal following 120 minutes of goalless stalemate in Faro-Loulé.
A desperately tight, fiercely contested encounter had seen both teams foiled by the woodwork before misses from Sweden's Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Olof Mellberg proved decisive in the shoot-out, with Arjen Robben nervelessly converting the winning spot-kick. Vive o 2004! - Strikers to shine on Algarve |
Sweden and the Netherlands could give us a scintillating quarter-final when they meet at the Estádio Algarve in Faro-Loulé today. Each team's defenders face an evening on red alert as some of the more potent striking talents at UEFA EURO 2004™ go head-to-head. Both sides have already given notice of their abundant attacking promise in Portugal, and no one can call the result with confidence. In any event, it would be something of a surprise if we were to see a contest with a paucity of goals. Sweden come to the quarter-finals having been one of the most effective all-round teams in the group stages. Slick Greece shock holders |
Greece pulled off the biggest shock of UEFA EURO 2004™ here tonight when they beat France for the first time in their history to reach the semi-finals where they will meet the Czech Republic or Denmark.
A goal after 65 minutes by Angelos Charisteas sent the defending champions crashing out of the competition along with fellow former winners Italy, Germany and Spain. France, with Thierry Henry struggling to reproduce his best form and Patrick Vieira out injured, were heavily reliant on the skills of Zinedine Zidane, but for once the great man was unable to inspire his team-mates sufficiently. Vive o 2004! - Greeks planting seeds of doubt |
If the eight quarter-finalists had been subject to Wimbledon-style seedings, the meeting of France and Greece at the Estadio José Avalade on Friday evening would be first seeds versus eighth, the defending champions and favourites against the rank outsiders. But Greece, enjoying the adventure of their footballing lives, have been here before: just under two weeks ago, in fact, when they faced the hosts, Portugal, in the opening game of the tournament and were given very little chance by most experts. On that occasion of course they not only won, but won well. So what price a first-ever win for Greece over France and the adventure continuing into next week? To celebrate we have the kits of the 2 teams for you to add to your game to enhance the excitement and realism of your copy of UEFA Euro 2004™. Hosts hold their nerve |
Portugal eventually overcame England on penalties to advance to the last four of UEFA EURO 2004™ after an enthralling quarter-final at the Estádio da Luz in Lisbon, with misses from David Beckham and Darius Vassell proving decisive in the shoot-out and Portuguese goalkeeper Ricardo nervelessly converting the winning spot-kick.
Michael Owen's improvised finish put England ahead after just three minutes. But, after almost relentless pressure, Portugal finally leveled in the 83rd minute when Hélder Postiga headed in Simão Sabrosa's cross. Then it was the turn of Portugal's third substitute Rui Costa, who beat David James with a sumptuous strike from 25 metres in the 110th minute. England were briefly down but not out and Frank Lampard sent the match to penalties when he got on the end of John Terry's knockdown after 115 minutes. Vive o 2004! - Hosts' biggest test yet |
Today we enter the Quarter Final stage of the tournament. 8 teams are still here and 8 teams have now flown home. Portugal face England in the first UEFA EURO 2004™ quarter-final at the Estádio da Luz with both teams burdened by huge expectation. Portugal, fresh from victory over Spain, carry the fervent hopes of the host nation, while in England confidence levels have rocketed after the dazzling displays of tournament top scorer Wayne Rooney. The match comes four years after Portugal's dramatic 3-2 win against England at UEFA EURO 2000™, and just two years after Portugal coach Luiz Felipe Scolari ended the English 2002 FIFA World Cup bid during his time in charge of Brazil. The meeting of Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo, the tournament's brightest young stars so far, adds further spice to the mix. Baroš ends German hopes |
Germany crashed out of UEFA EURO 2004™ after losing to an under-strength Czech Republic side. The Czechs, who maintained their 100 per cent record - including in qualification - came from behind with goals from Marek Heinz and Milan Baroš.
Michael Ballack had opened the scoring on 21 minutes to steady the nerves of a German side needing victory to be sure of a place in the last eight, but Heinz equalised with a superb free-kick and when Baroš added a second after sustained second-half pressure from Germany, the hopes of Rudi Völler's side had ended. Having already secured top spot in Group D, the Czech Republic rested several players with Sunday's quarter-final against Denmark in mind. In total there were nine changes from the team that beat the Netherlands, with Marek Heinz and Vratislav Lokvenc paired in attack, and midfield trio Stepán Vachoušek, Jaroslav Plašil and Roman Týce all handed the chance to shine. Share of spoils sufficient |
A last-minute goal from Mattias Jonson ensured that Sweden and Denmark both qualify from Group C. Jon Dahl Tomasson twice gave Denmark the lead in an enthralling game but Jonson's strike means that Sweden finish group winners while Italy are eliminated.
It was the result Italy had dreaded the most and ensured that Sweden finished top courtesy of goals scored between the three sides as they all finish level on five points. Denmark now face the Czech Republic on Sunday, Sweden the Group D runners-up the day before. Final result: Denmark 2 v 2 Sweden Check out the full match report by clicking here and see the goals from the game in fantastic virtual reality by using the BBC's Virtual Replay system. Unbeaten Italy bow out |
Italy are out of UEFA EURO 2004™ despite a dramatic victory against Bulgaria as Denmark and Sweden drew 2-2 to condemn the unbeaten Azzurri to third place in Group C on head-to-head record with the three level on five points.
A Martin Petrov penalty had given Plamen Markov's side the lead on the stroke of half-time and although Simone Perrotta equalised three minutes after half-time, Sweden's late equaliser in Porto made Antonio Cassano's last-gasp winner academic. Final result: Italy 2 v 1 Bulgaria Check out the full match report by clicking here and see the goals from the game in fantastic virtual reality by using the BBC's Virtual Replay system. England ignited by Rooney |
Wayne Rooney scored twice as England came from behind to defeat Croatia at the Estádio da Luz in Lisbon and progress to the UEFA EURO 2004™ quarter-finals.
England's win secured second spot in Group B and a quarter-final meeting with hosts Portugal on Thursday at the same stadium. England had trailed to Niko Kovac's fifth-minute opener before two goals in the final five minutes of the first half set up victory. Rooney assisted Paul Scholes for the opener and the midfield player returned the favour on the stroke of half-time. The tournament top scorer sealed England's progress with his fourth goal of the competition after 68 minutes before Igor Tudor and Frank Lampard traded goals within minutes. Rooney had earlier gone off to a rapturous reception and Europe's newest young star, with six goals in his last four matches, was again the hero as England advanced beyond the first round of the UEFA European Championship for the first time on foreign soil. Henry makes the difference |
Holders France assured themselves of a quarter-final match-up with Greece after a hard-earned win over gallant Switzerland in Coimbra ensured they finished top of Group B by a point from England.
Switzerland were in with a chance of a last-eight berth themselves after Johan Vonlanthen had cancelled out Zinedine Zidane's strike inside the first half hour, but two late Thierry Henry goals finally subdued the battling underdogs to knock them out of the competition. Nuno Gomes lights up Lisbon |
A 57th-minute strike from substitute Nuno Gomes eased the worries of a nation as Portugal, the UEFA EURO 2004™ hosts, advanced to the knockout stages of the competition at the expense of their Iberian rivals, Spain.
The significance of the occasion where Portugal needed a win and Spain only a draw denied the fans a truly wonderful derby, but Nuno Gomes' goal finally ended a 23-year wait for the Portuguese to put one over their old adversaries. Portugal advance to the last eight as group winners, while Greece finish second in Group A with Spain eliminated in third. Nervous Greece advance |
Greece nervously edged into the quarter-finals despite losing their last Group A game 2-1 to Russia in Faro-Loulé on Sunday. Zisis Vryzas’ goal two minutes before half-time ensured that Otto Rehhagel's side qualified along with Portugal, having scored more goals than Spain.
Having started the day top of the group, Greece's hopes of reaching the last eight were rocked in the first 17 minutes as Russia raced into a two-goal lead. Dmitri Kirichenko opened the scoring inside two minutes with the quickest goal ever scored in a UEFA European Championship finals match, then Dmitri Bulykin took advantage of some anxious Greek defending to head in a second. But Vryzas' well-taken strike just before the interval ultimately proved enough to see Greece through to the quarter-finals of a major tournament for the first time in their history. PORTUGAL UMA FORÇA QUE NINGUÈM PODE PARAR! |
Portugal is on delirium, all the Portuguese country is celebrating this victory against Spain, after complete 90-minute fever of football, and Portugal wins. This match was a delirious match, after everyone betting that in the first half of the match, the game would be already decided either to Spain or to Portugal but after the end of the first 45 minutes the game was tied and undecided. Both teams had goal chances and was a great a first half. The second half starts and only on change on the teams, Pauleta for Nuno Gomes, suddenly it was 10 minutes of 2nd half, a striking attack and magical shoot from Nuno Gomes made it to the end of the nets, killing the Spanish hope.
But the match wasn’t over, as this just became the start of a great match, as the goal opportunities started to increase more and more for both sides. The game was by a wire and as the final minutes started to come, the game was like a bomb about to explode. Final minutes came and Spain made their tactical changes, they were giving everything for everything, as Spain couldn’t afford to lose the match. Spain was losing for 1 goal and the game was hot, really hot, still with Portugal trying to defend their victory by 1 goal, Portugal was being able to give some big scares to the Spanish team, but Spain wouldn’t give up and they were having more goal chances than Portugal and I must admit as you know luck makes part of football games and Portugal was lucky not to suffer. Then the final whistle came and Portugal was victorious, everyone jumping on streets, party everywhere, Portugal was green and red everyone on the streets celebrating.
Portugal won a great match and stayed first on their group. The Iberican battle ended, and all Portugal is on party, Portugal wins by 1-0 to Spain. News Reporter:

Brave Latvia deny Germany |
Unheralded Latvia produced a gritty performance of determination and endeavour to deny Germany and earn their first-ever major tournament point in an entertaining goalless draw in UEFA EURO 2004™ Group D.
The Baltic underdogs gallantly withstood constant second-half pressure from the Germans to earn a draw, and could have even grabbed a shock win had Maris Verpakovskis taken a gilt-edged first-half chance. Germany dominated proceedings after the interval, but were ultimately frustrated as they failed to convert the chances that came their way. Ibrahimovic pegs back Italy |
A dramatic late equaliser from Zlatan Ibrahimovic put Sweden in a strong position to qualify from Group C as they drew 1-1 with Italy to remain top above Denmark on goal difference.
Antonio Cassano had opened the scoring in the first half of a game that Italy largely dominated, but Sweden staged a late rally in the closing stages and substitute Mattias Jonson forced Gianluigi Buffon into a fine reaction save after he had been picked out by Henrik Larsson's penetrating diagonal pass. The pressure eventually paid off when Ibrahimovic profited from a goalmouth scramble, acrobatically hooking a shot over the head of Vieri on the line and into the top corner with five minutes remaining. Danish delight in Braga |
Goals at the end of each half from Jon Dahl Tomasson and Jesper Grønkjær earned Denmark three points in Braga and put the Scandinavian side in a strong position in UEFA EURO 2004™ Group C.
Tomasson opened the scoring a minute before half-time with a simple finish from close range and Grønkjær completed the success two minutes into added time, sidefooting into the corner to seal the three points. The final score might have been more emphatic, but Ebbe Sand's thunderous last-gasp strike rebounded off the crossbar. Bulgaria therefore bowed out of the tournament after following up Monday's 5-0 loss against Sweden with defeat by Morten Olsen's team. Portugal restore home pride |
Hosts Portugal restored their UEFA EURO 2004™ hopes as goals at either end of a thrilling encounter from Maniche and Rui Costa gave them a hard-fought win and ended Russia's dreams of reaching the knockout stages.
Maniche seized on his FC Porto team-mate Deco's pass after seven minutes to fire in the first goal before Rui Costa converted fellow substitute Cristiano Ronaldo’s cross one minute from time as Portugal bounced back from their opening match defeat by Greece with a much-improved display. Russia had to play for over 45 minutes with ten men after goalkeeper Sergei Ovchinnikov was sent off on the stroke of half-time for handling the ball outside the area. Defiant Dutch make a point |
An 81st-minute equaliser by Ruud van Nistelrooij ensured honours ended even in this clash of Group D heavyweights after a freakish goal by BV Borussia Dortmund's Torsten Frings had given Germany a first-half lead.
For much of the match it looked as though the Netherlands, not for the first time, had flattered only to deceive their fervent fans, but Van Nistelrooij, who had had a quiet game, produced an acrobatic hooked finish at the near post from a fine Andy van der Meyde cross to bring them their reward. Larsson lights up Sweden |
Sweden recorded only their third victory in a UEFA European Championship finals as two fine goals from Henrik Larsson and further strikes from Fredrik Ljungberg, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Marcus Allbäck powered them past Bulgaria at Lisbon's Estádio José Alvalade.
It was a fairytale return to competitive international action for Larsson as he scored two goals in two minutes shortly before the hour to end the game as a contest in which Bulgaria battled bravely but in vain. Already ahead through Ljungberg's first-half opener, Larsson's spectacular diving header from Erik Edman's pinpoint left-wing cross doubled their lead after 57 minutes. Seconds later, the Swedes ended the game as a contest when Anders Svensson's low cross from the right was missed by the diving Zlatko Zdravkov and Larsson knocked the ball into the roof of the net from close range. Ibrahimovic scored a fourth from the penalty spot 12 minutes from time after Ljungberg had been brought down, and substitute Allbäck raced on to Larsson's chip to add a fifth in added time. Zidane strikes stun England |
Two Zinedine Zidane goals in added time at the end of the match gave France an incredible win against England in UEFA EURO 2004™ Group B.
Trailing to Frank Lampard's 38th-minute header, it seemed that the holders would begin their campaign with a disappointing defeat. However, the Real Madrid CF playmaker curled in a free-kick a minute into added time to seemingly rescue a point. Moments later Steven Gerrard's misplaced pass set Thierry Henry clear and the French striker was brought down by England goalkeeper David James. Zidane kept his nerve from the spot to cap an incredible turnaround. Final result: France 2 v 1 England Check out the full match report by clicking here. News Reporter:

Victory vindicates Sáez switch |
Spain coach Iñaki Sáez paid tribute to Juan Carlos Valerón after the midfield player handed his side victory against Russia in their opening Group A game by scoring with his first touch after coming off the bench.
The game was scoreless when Sáez sent Valerón on to replace Fernando Morientes in the 59th minute in Faro-Loulé, but just over 30 seconds later the RC Deportivo La Coruña playmaker had broken the deadlock after latching onto Carlos Puyol's cross. A satisfied Sáez said: "The first game is always difficult and it's a big relief to start off with a victory." Final result: Spain 1 v 0 Russia Check out the full match report by clicking here. Greece spoil hosts' party |
Goals from Georgios Karagounis and Angelos Basinas gave Greece a deserved victory and provided a massive setback to Portugal's hopes of winning UEFA EURO 2004™ on home soil, despite Cristiano Ronaldo's late consolation.
It was the first time the hosts had lost the opening match of a UEFA European Championship, but in truth it was a disappointing display from Portugal, who gave away possession far too easily. Greece, on the other hand, played with great freedom and assurance, none more so than Angelos Charisteas. Final result: Portugal 1 v 2 Greece Check out the full match report by clicking here. EURO 2004 Demo Patches |
As we enter the launch week for UEFA Euro 2004™ we are catching up on some recent news relating to the demo version. Ariel Santarelli from SoccerAccess has started new era in FIFA/EURO editing by creating a great patch that turns your EURO 2004 Demo (any version) into a Real Madrid v FC Barcelona match, also coming soon is the Bayern Munich v Borussia Dortmund patch.
Real Madrid v FC Barcelona This patch is available in three parts, where parts #1 and #2 are required, part #3 is optional (but recommended as it includes perfect chants for both teams). This patch will not change your Euro 2004 Demo, it will just add another shortcut on your desktop from where you will have to run the game to play with Real Madrid and Barcelona. This patch includes: - 2GK kits
- 2Gadboards
- 2Gball
- faces for all players
- rosters (latest match lineups)
- and much more
Bayern Munich v Borussia Dortmund They are now working on the second patch for the Euro 2004 Demo. The visitors voted for Bayern and Dortmund. As Dortmund was the team with most votes, the stadium will be the Westfalen. As well as the Real Madrid vs Barza patch this one will include: - faces for all players
- 2GK kits
- 2GA adbords
- chants
- and more

Interview with Line Producer for UEFA EURO 2004 |
PALgaming have a unique interview with Joe Nickolls - Line Producer for UEFA EURO 2004. Below are a few snippets from the interview:
Q. How has the game engine changed from FIFA 2004? A: We spent the whole year working on our game engine. We've tuned everything from the game speed, to reaction times for players. From New skill moves to improved crossing, etc. It's very important to understand that EURO is a completely different team from FIFA, we work right beside them but the key point is we have put a lot of enhancements and new features into our game. Q. Will you be able to partake in the EURO 2004 qualifying rounds when playing through the competition if desired? A: Absolutely. You'll be able to play as any one of the 51 nations in qualifying, friendly and finals. Q. Will we see any new skills/showboat actions for the players to perform? A: We have 12 new skill moves available to the players. These will be triggered with the right button presses and are based on where the player is, where the defence is, which way he's headed and his overall skill move. Great moves like the Nutmeg and Lollipop are in there. (There are also Fake Shots, Diving Headers, Bicycle Kicks, Chips Shots and more) Q. Which of the platforms will feature online play? A: for this title - PC only. Q. What advancement from FIFA 2004 are you most proud of? A: I think it's got to be two things. The morale system of play, and the gameplay in general. So far all of our reviews have noticed we've put a lot into our AI. Check out the full interview at PALgaming. News Reporter:

Manage Your Player in UEFA Euro 2004™ |
We will be taking a regular look at the features of the game in the build up to the release of UEFA Euro 2004™. This weekend we check out how you can Manage Your Player.
Morale and its impact on Gameplay Over the course of the EURO 2004 mode, specific events will cause a player’s morale to fluctuate both upwards and downwards: - When a player’s morale is high, he will perform at or above his attribute level.
- When a player’s morale is low, he will perform below his attribute level.
New Player Traits Player Traits are special abilities or traits that a player possesses. Traits are in the form of an on/off flags, so the player either does this or he doesn't. As morale will play an important part in the EURO 2004 mode, certain player traits can be turned on or off depending on the player’s state of mind for that match. Euro 2004 Mode You take the team through qualifying matches and friendlies to the EURO 2004 Finals. During qualifying you have a number of dates where you can choose to arrange a friendly match with a team of your choice. You have to pick your team based on morale and fitness and the performance on the day determines the player’s morale. Back to back successes will improve morale. Player Fitness Injuries can play a key role in a football team’s fortune, and this will be represented in the EURO 2004 mode. Injuries are part of the game and all teams will experience injuries of some kind. The Fitness section of the Team News screen will detail information regarding player health and injuries. Team News Screen The team news screen is where information about players will be displayed. Each nation will have approximately 40 eligible players that can play in matches. - The Team News screen can display information for any of these players (i.e. the player does not have to be in the first eleven to be referenced on the Team News screen).
- The Team News screen will only display information on teams that are user controlled. Team news will not be viewable for Computer controlled teams – the Scouting Report screen will be used to display select information on a computer opponent.
- The screen will be broken up into 3 sections – Fitness, Discipline and General.
- The Player Fitness section will detail player injuries.
- The Player Discipline section will detail disciplinary issues such as yellow cards, red cards and suspensions.
- The Player – Miscellaneous section will detail player form, morale.
We will bring you news of more unique UEFA Euro 2004™ features soon. News Reporter:

EURO 2004 Developer Interview |
EA UK recently took a bunch of questions from the forums and passed them onto the best people to answer them - the developers. Here's a sample of what they said:
- Q. Will Euro 2004 have the same file formats as FIFA 2004?
- A. Yes it will. While the graphics engine has been tweaked and improved, the underlying file formats are still the same so moving from FIFA Football 2004 editing to Euro 2004 editing shouldn't be a problem.
- Q. Is there going to be a Euro 2004 Creation Centre? If so, will it only be on PC or will there be a console version too?
- A. There are no plans for a Euro 2004 Creation Centre, either for PC or console.
- Q. What kind of music will we get with the game?
- A. Like in FIFA Football 2004 you'll hear a mix of music styles from different countries. Having said that, the music is a a little more "rock" based this time around as that style of music is seeing a big resurgence in Europe.
- Q. Will PC online play include a Direct IP option?
- A. No, Direct IP play will not be an option in UEFA Euro™ 2004 on PC.
- Q. Will you be able to change formation during matches?
- A. Yes, this option will be included.
- Q. Though the keeper AI in FIFA Football 2004 was certainly the best yet in an EA SPORTS football game, will it be further improved for Euro 2004?
- A. Yes. This is a continuing evolution on all of our football titles. Specific time was spent on goal keeper AI on Euro.
Check out the rest of the questions and answers over at the official UEFA EURO 2004 UK community site. Also, if you have any further questions about UEFA Euro™ 2004, head over to their forums and let EA know! Have you pre-orderd your copy of the game yet so it arrives at your home on 7th May 2004? EURO 2004 Groups Drawn |
The end of the UEFA EURO 2004™ draw ceremony at Lisbon's Pavilhão Atlântico was signalled by a spectacular drum show from traditional group Tocá Rufar but as the sounds from the official draw ceremony faded out, they were replaced by the equally cacophonous sounds of reaction to the draw itself and fevered speculation about the tournament which is now less than 200 days away.
Group A - Portugal
- Greece
- Spain
- Russia
Group B - France
- England
- Switzerland
- Croatia
| Group C - Sweden
- Bulgaria
- Denmark
- Italy
Group D - Czech Republic
- Latvia
- Germany
- Netherlands
| Group A pitted hosts Portugal with their Iberian rivals Spain; holders France begin their defence in Group B against England; Scandinavian neighbours Denmark and Sweden were paired together with Italy in Group C; while newcomers Latvia found themselves in the group most deserving of the traditional 'Group of Death' appellation: up against the Czech Republic, Germany and the Netherlands.
Portugal will kick off the tournament on 12th June at the Dragão stadium against Greece and we will provide special coverage of the build up and the tournemant for you here. News Reporter:
