Earlier this week ,The World Cyber Games Organisation released the list of Games that will be played at this years WCG Finals in Los Angela's.
There was much discussion and rumour floating around the World Fifa Community that Fifa wouldn't be a game selected this year, so many people were holding their breath.
I'm delighted to announce that Fifa 2004 was picked and the World Fifa Community rejoiced in their thousands. It has become very evident over the past 3 years that the World Fifa Community is growing immensely and many look forward to the chance to represent their Nation in the Grand WCG Finals.
So now we know that Fifa 04 is indeed a game to be played at the WCG Finals our next question here in the UK is who will be running the event and when.
At this present moment, not much information is available on this, but here at the SFTLA we are very keen to run the event ourselves and make this years UK Finals for Fifa 04 the best they have ever been. As soon as we find out more information about this we will let you all know.
What we do know is that the UK Finals will be held around September or early October with the possible venues being either London or Birmingham.
Entry to the Finals will cost around £10 and Prizes will be awarded to the Winner(s) as well as the Top 2 Players qualifying for the All Expenses Paid Trip to Los Angela's to compete in the World Finals where a staggering $20,000 is up for grabs to the Winner.
Previous years has brought mixed fortunes for UK Players, with our best achievement being a Silver Medal in the 2002 Finals in Korea in the 2 v 2 Nation Finals.
I believe this year the UK Players will do well and will at least qualify from the Group Stage and hopes are high that this will be our first year that a UK Player will finish in the Prize Money Places. This Year, due to efforts from the SFTLA the standard and number of talented Fifa Players here in the UK is the most its ever been and this really does set us up for a fantastic Finals Day.
We will continue to bring you more information regarding the Fifa 2004 UK Finals as soon as we here more.

It's been months in the works, but last week while I was away the new and improved FIFA CONCACAF was launched.
Greg and the guys have been working hard to provide you with a one-stop shop experience for all your CONCACAF news and FIFA gaming needs. They've expanded their news by adding zone-specific pages. So now you can take a trip over to their North America, Central America, and Caribbean pages.
They've also added country association pages for more info on the countries of the Confederation, however these are still under construction. If you'd like to help get your country's page built, please contact Greg Baker or any of the FIFA CONCACAF Co-Webmasters.
This is a site in transition, so there may yet be some areas which are under construction. Do you have any suggestions? comments? great ideas? Head on over to their Forums and let them hear what you have to say!

A nice little treat here from a very well known and respected Fifa Player. Marco Jongerius aka OmniRocket to his friends has put together a selection of replays showing us some great goals that can be scored playing this beautiful game.
OmniRocket is the current Dutch Champion and has attended all Three World Cyber Games Finals.
In his movie you become quickly aware that this guy has bags of talent when it comes to Fifa and I don't believe it will be very long in coming before we see him win the ultimate prize of World Fifa Champion.
The Movie can be downloaded from Ownage.nl a very big Dutch Fifa Fan site by clicking on the FifaOwnage.zip file. Then once the file has been downloaded, sit back, relax and enjoy some of the best goals in Fifa you will probably see.
Sevix, from our partners over at FIFAMania.it, has kindly provided us his unique "Sevix Soccer Simulation" patch to host here in the UK.
This version is a totally new patch from his previous incarnations and below you can see all the differences from his "Sevix Real Game 3.0C" patch:
This patch is based on the research of a simulation game and your success will depend all on the Ball Possession you have
Do play a lot if you want to realize the effect of all the new scripts added
You still can run fast and leave your opponents behind with high sprint and speed values players, but speed differences will be lower than the previous 3.0C patch
Try to play with 1 star teams from lower divisions against teams such as Milan, Real, Arsenal and others with great attributes and you will feel the teams performance differences
The game levels are 95% free from every kind of parameters influence .. only CPU bad shot percentage and goalie skills will make the difference between game levels
Created 88 new parameters to regulate the attributes that control the game and its difficulty
Choose well the players for your match as 18 attributes will influence every player
All the attributes that will be influenced by new parameters are:
Speed, Sprint, Tackling, Condition, Skills, Fitness, Pressing, Aggression, Shot, Strength, Position, Passing, Moral, Dribbling, Marking, Awareness, Heading and Ball Control
Pass Assistance System has been reset at 50%
New Goalie positions and shots, shots will now follow the path you set
Cross System modified
Good Tackling percentage will be very low.. Sweat hard to steel the ball, players tackling attribute will influence this feature
Marking Positions have been squeezed up, getting free from the opponent is harder, especially if his marking value is high
Your shots and passes will often hit the opponent, in this way you'll be involved in new game actions
Infact still more new ball, shots and passes paths. The ball will bounce everywhere.
You can create every kind of new action you want...

Let's face it, past Fifa games allowed you to either pinball pass your way to a score, or dribble past all the D and bury the shot. Fifa 2004 does not let you do this. If you are still tracking with me, then the Virtual Playbook will be a great resource to you. It will help you overcome the learning curve quick in areas you haven't already, and improve your approach to playing the game at any level.

After the overwhelming success of version 1 of this FIFA 2004 roster update, FIFACZ.COM have released a new version with lots of improvements. Jomi created this Roster Update Patch for FIFA 2004 with just the help of the Ingame Team Management.
It updates the following leagues:
Germany, France 1 + 2, Italy, England, Spain, Holland, Portugal, Denmark, Sweden, Switzerland, Scotland, Austria, Belgium, Norway and Rest of the World
Newly updated in version 2.00:
3 new leagues : the MLS, the Brazilian league, the English 1st division
All the teams in the international section have been updated according to the latest results (Euro, Gold Cup,...)
The 7 big leagues of the games (ENG; ITA; FRA; GER; SPA; POR; HOL) have been completely re-worked according to November real life matches as well as some big clubs (Celtic, Rangers, Anderlecht, Sparta Praha, Galatasaray,...) That's why you won't find stars players as Desailly or Scholes in the starting 11 of their clubs.
Because they are just working with the Ingame Team Management, it is impossible to create players, modify their standard positions, the jersey numbers or choose the captain. We have to wait until the Creation Center is out or some other editor which could read the DBI files.
Delve into the dugout with the only management sim that brings you true Football Fusion with FIFA Football 2004! Over 47 leagues, 25,000 players, and the most authentic management game on the market.
Total Club Manager 2004 has kicked off, so make sure you're psyched up, if you are not already, by ordering at a reduced price your copy direct from our TCM 2004 Shop.

Rimo from our partners Fifamania was recently at the FIFA 2004 Italian press conference at the Ventaglio Caffe, Milan.
Electronic Arts Italia presented Fifa to the press; Raul Cremona was the anchorman, the special guests were Bruno Longhi (the Italian official commentator), Klaus Davi, Jean Claude Ghinozzi (EA Italy General Manager) and, of course, the Italian testimonial, Alex Del Piero.
Del Piero talked about the making of the game, revealing that the partnership with EA did not only concern the game cover, but they also worked together in order to reproduce his moves with the famous motion capture. He also played an online game of FIAF 2004.
Del Piero was literally assailed by the press, and after a few interviews he left the hall. With the cake dedicated to the new game, they were at the end of a mighty Fifa-Day, that you'll be able to re-live with the exclusive pictures and footage brought to you over at Fifamania.

Soccer Gaming's first review of FIFA 2004 has been posted. IceBlu, a well known moderator from the Soccer Gaming Forums, has put together a very informative review of the FIFA 2004 PC version. In his words:
Kick off! The referee signals the start of the first half and off we go. The controls feel responsive compared to older editions of the game and passing has improved by leaps and bounds. Players actually seem involved in the game. The ground passes aren’t always predictable and get intercepted by the opponent on a regular basis which is a good thing. Same can be said of the aerial passes. They aren’t as accurate as the ground passes but if you get them right, they can be devastating. You can convert defence into attack with one good pass. The “through ball” has been added into the game which is basically what it is in real life. You can thread the needle with a good through ball and have your striker reach it leaving the defenders for dead. Crosses have improved a lot. It is pretty easy to get in a good cross from the flanks.

EA have released their latest great FIFA 2004 video. This time Danny Isaac, Producer for FIFA Football 2004, introduces the evolution in Freestyle Control.
This year the controls are now attribute based and more player specific. As football fans, we enjoy watching players with great skill moves, flair and style and with FIFA Football 2004 and the new Freestyle Control, you too can do the talking on the pitch.
Some of the information Danny provides us on Freestyle Control includes:
It has been streamlined from FIFA 2003 using right analogue stick
It is now Attribute based and player specific
Defensive control added for jostling - you can now push, pull and hold your opponents
You need to practice to get the most out of it and then you can score goals with style

As we continue our in depth focus on FIFA 2004's key features, today we check out Off The Ball™ Control.
There are players whose contribution to the team is as great off the ball as it is on it. Whose skills without the ball are as awesome as everything they do with it.
Like Ronaldinho, reading the game from midfield. Directing his team-mates' moves. Picking out the player who has made the most prescient run off the ball. And delivering the perfect pass to take the opposition apart.
Like Del Piero, fighting for every inch of turf. Making run after run into opposition territory, and being jostled and harassed for his pains. Waiting for that rare chance to receive the ball. And bury it.
Like Thierry Henry, tearing into space off the ball. Running defenders ragged. Calling for the ball so that his team-mates know he's open. And eating it up when it's played into space ahead of him.
These are the players who have inspired the latest version of the world's best-selling football simulation, FIFA Football 2004. And inspired EA to develop Off The Ball™ Control so that you can play like them.
Off The Ball™ Control lets you control the man on the ball and the men off it. Timing runs. Anticipating moves. Positioning players. Making FIFA Football 2004 the complete football simulation. This is a feature I am certainly looking forward to in FIFA 2004.
Whilst we await the arrival of FIFA 2004, have you pre-ordered your copy yet? It's not too late you know, visit our Shop and pre-order your copy so it arrives at the end of October on the day it is released.

somewhere to get used to and master Off-the-Ball and Freestyle control
control over practice setup and environment
set piece control for corners and free-kicks
you the ability to try any team to see how they operate
the perfect way to hone your skills in preparation for match day
