NK FOOTBALL © - NK speaks, X-PRO will be released tonight!

NK FOOTBALL © NewsNK FOOTBALL © is still planning to release X-PRO tonight, UK GMT time.

The update is planned to be released in the next hour or so, please be patient. While you're waiting, here is some information on X-PRO

The shooting has been totally re-vamped to extreme levels of diversity. No longer will every shot be hit close to the goal and dangerous to the goalkeeper. Some shots will be very wide and sliced. By rushing a shot, you will most likely slice the ball and see crazy out-side curl that goes no way near the goal. The CPU also uses the same shooting, so there is no disadvantage. The game is very well balanced and goals are not by the plenty. You must work as a team to score and compose your strikers.

Not long to go now, see you all soon

Grudge Match was created by IGN with the purpose of comparing two very similar titles in the same genre in categories ranging from graphics to AI. Much like an IGN Insider Head-to-Head feature, this series breaks down less of the technical aspects of videogames and takes more on an overall viewpoint in hopes of assisting readers with a purchasing decision.

Carling Cup Final - Arsenal 1 v 2 Chelsea

Carling Cup Final - Arsenal 1 v 2 Chelsea Didier Drogba grabbed both goals as Chelsea came from behind to win a Carling Cup final that ended in ugly scenes at the Millennium Stadium.

Theo Walcott gave Arsenal the lead after ghosting past Ricardo Carvalho. But Chelsea equalised when Drogba was given the benefit of the linesman's flag to slot home and with six minutes to go he headed in a powerful winner.

The Blues lost skipper Terry midway through the half when he took a boot in the face from Diaby as he tried to finish off an Arjen Robben corner. Terry looked to be knocked unconscious and a mask was applied to his face to help with his breathing before he was carried off the field and taken to hospital.

The blow seemed to fire up his team-mates and they finished strongly and Arsenal's young legs began to tire.

In the 84th minute Robben's cross picked out Drogba and he headed past a stranded Almunia for the winner.

A brawl erupted between the sides late on that led to dismissals for Mikel Jon Obi, Kolo Toure and Emmanuel Adebayor. It was a disappointing climax to an intriguing final and cruel luck on Arsenal's young side, who dominated for large spells in the last League Cup final in Cardiff.

English Premier League Review

English Premier League ReviewWe bring you all the latest news from this weekend's games in the English Premiership.

Saturday 24th February 2007

Charlton Athletic 4 v 0 West Ham United
Alan Curbishley's return to The Valley turned into a nightmare as his West Ham United team were humiliated by his old Charlton Athletic charges in their Barclays Premiership relegation clash. Jerome Thomas, with his first two goals of the season, led the rampage but Darren Ambrose made the vital breakthrough and it was Darren Bent – back after seven matches out – who put put the game beyond the Hammers.

Fulham 1 v 2 Manchester United
Cristiano Ronaldo's superb 88th-minute goal sent Manchester United nine points clear at the top of the Barclays Premiership as they came from behind to claim a cruicial, but somewhat fortuitous, victory over Fulham in a thrilling clash at Craven Cottage.

Liverpool 4 v 0 Sheffield United
Liverpool rested seven of their Nou Camp heroes from the starting line-up against Sheffield United but still cruised to a victory that stretches their unbeaten home league record to 30 matches.

Middlesbrough 2 v 1 Reading
Mark Viduka and Ayegbeni Yakubu combined to hand Reading a lesson in finishing and dent their European hopes. Substitute John Oster’s late goal proved little consolation.

Watford 0 v 3 Everton
Everton strolled to a 3-0 victory at Barclays Premiership bottom club Watford and revived their hopes of ending the season with European qualification. Ggoals from Manuel Fernandes and Andy Johnson midway through the first period turned out to be blows from which the Hornets were unable to recover and substitute Leon Osman curled in a fine third in added time.

Sunday 25th February 2007

Blackburn Rovers 3 v 0 Portsmouth
Shabani Nonda blew his chance of a hat-trick but still sent Blackburn Rovers soaring into the Barclays Premiership's top 10 as two first-half strikes sunk Portsmouth at Ewood Park.

Tottenham Hotspur 4 v 1 Bolton Wanderers
Robbie Keane scored twice and set up another goal against Bolton Wanderers before getting sent off and watching Tottenham Hotspur complete their victory from the sidelines at White Hart Lane. Spurs’ stand-in captain took centre stage for 36 minutes, scoring either side of Jermaine Jenas’ strike before being given a red card for handling on the line. Gary Speed tucked away the penalty but the visitors, who missed their chance to go fourth in the Barclays Premiership, could not find another goal against 10-man Spurs. Aaron Lennon added a fourth in stoppage time to complete a miserable day for Bolton.

Wigan Athletic 1 v 0 Newcastle United
Ryan Taylor scored the only goal of the game five minutes before half-time with a stunning free-kick, just moments after John Filan had saved a penalty from Nolberto Solano.

UEFA Champions League Review - First Knockout Round

UEFA Champions League ReviewFollowing Wednesday's matches, we check out a brief summary of all the action below.

Barcelona 1 v 2 Liverpool
Liverpool pulled off a famous victory as they defeated UEFA Champions League holders FC Barcelona 2-1 at Camp Nou to end the Catalan side's 13-match unbeaten run on home soil. John Arne Riise was the visitors' hero as he fired home the winning goal in the 74th minute after being picked out by Craig Bellamy, whose first-half header had cancelled out Deco's early opener.

Inter Milan 2 v 2 Valencia
Valencia CF claimed two priceless away goals after coming from behind twice to frustrate FC Internazionale Milano in the first leg of their first knockout round tie. Inter had led in both halves of an engaging encounter at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza, but the strikes from midfielders Esteban Cambiasso and Maicon were nullified by long-range efforts from David Villa and David Silva as Valencia refused to concede defeat.

Porto 1 v 1 Chelsea
Both FC Porto and Chelsea retain hope of sealing a UEFA Champions League quarter-final place after sharing two goals in an eventful first leg at the Estádio do Dragão. Raul Meireles made the breakthrough for Porto, reacting quickest to Makelele's weak headed clearance and volleying past Petr Čech, via the boot of Frank Lampard. Arjen Robben replaced Terry and within minutes the winger had put Shevchenko through on goal and the Ukrainian rifled past the despairing Helton with his left foot.

Roma 0 v 0 Lyon
AS Roma remain in contention to reach the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals for the first time but have plenty of work to do after a resolute Olympique Lyonnais earned a goalless draw in the Italian capital.

UEFA Champions League Review - First Knockout Round

UEFA Champions League ReviewFollowing yesterday's matches, we check out a brief summary of all the action below.

Celtic 0 v 0 AC Milan
Celtic FC and AC Milan played out a goalless draw in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League first knockout round tie in Glasgow.

Lille 0 v 1 Manchester United
A late Ryan Giggs free-kick erased memories of last season's loss to LOSC Lille Métropole as Manchester United achieved a 1-0 victory in Lens that leaves them in command ahead of the return leg of their UEFA Champions League first knockout round contest.

PSV Eindhoven 1 v 0 Arsenal
PSV Eindhoven took an important step towards reaching the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League for the second time in three years with a 1-0 win against Arsenal in the first leg of their last-16 tie. PSV had spent the first half on the back foot but made Arsenal pay for failing to take their chances when Edison Méndez drilled low past Jens Lehmann midway through the second half. The goal caused a tense finale which PSV survived thanks largely to the excellence of goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes and sets up a thrilling second leg in two weeks' time.

Real Madrid  3 v 2 Bayern Munich
Two first-half goals from Raúl González and one from Ruud van Nistelrooy gave Real Madrid CF a slender advantage in a vibrant first leg of their UEFA Champions League first knockout round tie with FC Bayern München, whose challenge was revived by Mark van Bommel's late strike.

UEFA Champions League™ 2006-2007 News - Interview with EA Producer Matt Holme

UEFA Champions League™ 2006-2007 News - Interview with EA Producer Matt HolmeOur great friend and soccer gaming hero, Matt Holme (now an EA Producer) breaks down the upcoming club soccer title on the PC over with IGN.

Check out below some of the questions IGN asked Matt and then check out the full interview:

  • IGN: First off, how many teams will there be in the game?
  • Matt Holme: We have 268 teams from 17 leagues. We've ensured that every major team from all of the major European leagues is present in the game. In addition the game boasts 49 stadiums from around the world.
  • IGN: It sounds like you get to play through normal league matches as well as the Champions League schedule. What are the challenges of being a Champions League team and having to play in your own league?
  • Holme: You certainly do get to play through League and Cup matches as well. We realize that one of the biggest challenges for a Manager or player in a season is being able to cope through a campaign that not only involves a Champions League schedule, but the day to day responsibilities of a Domestic League and Cup season. We wanted to ensure we gave the user more than what they expected. So by adding the Cup and League matches along with the Champions League schedule, the game is going to be offering a lot more than just the standard package you may have come to expect from a licensed sports title. Of course though, if you're just a Champions League enthusiast and don't want to bother with League and Cup matches, the complete Champions League campaign can be played from the Group Stages onwards in our Tournament mode.
  • IGN: Quick controls? We don't even know what that means. Explain!
  • Holme: Glad you asked about these, because for me the first thing I look for in any new football video game is something innovating and new in regards to gameplay. We've definitely delivered this with Quick Controls. Quick Controls adds a fundamental of football which has been sadly missing from football games for a long time. They give you the ability to be able to take advantage of attacking movements and catch your opponent off-guard by taking a quick free-kick, quick throw-in, quick goal-kick or quick corner at the press of a button. Every time play stops, if you want to speed up the action and not sit through the highlights and cut scenes, just hit L1 and you'll be thrown straight back into position and ready to play on. This really does speed up the overall gameplay experience, and like I said, give you the ability to carry out something that has been common in football since its very beginning, but never before fully implemented in a football game.
  • IGN: What upgrades to gameplay have you focused on since FIFA 07?
  • Holme: We've really focused on capturing the true pace and intensity that can be found in a real-life Champions League match. Naturally, when the world's best players and teams are involved and the stakes are so high, the intensity and overall speed of a match is going to go up a gear. This is exactly what the UEFA Champions League 2006-2007 gameplay engine simulates.

English Premier League Review

English Premier League ReviewWe bring you all the latest news from this weekend's games in the English Premiership.

Saturday 10th February 2007

Chelsea 3 v 0 Middlesbrough
A brace from Didier Drogba, taking his tally for the season to 25, and an own goal from Boro’s Abel Xavier kept Chelsea six points behind United at the Barclays Premiership summit. The win over Middlesbrough was Chelsea’s fifth consecutive success since they lost to Liverpool last month - scoring 14 goals and conceding none in the process.

Everton 1 v 0 Blackburn Rovers
Everton have Europe in their sights after Andy Johnson gave them a 1-0 Barclays Premiership win over Blackburn Rovers at Goodison Park.

Manchester United 2 v 0 Charlton Athletic
Wayne Rooney kept his nerve when it mattered to ease Manchester United to a unconvincing win over Charlton Athletic. After all the swagger of recent performances, the Red Devils were forced to grind out a result against Alan Pardew’s brave battlers, who never let their heads drop even after Park Ji-Sung had nodded the hosts into a first-half lead. Charlton came agonisingly close to breaching United’s defences on two separate occasions but eventually, Rooney eased Sir Alex Ferguson’s nerves, calmly chipping to the far post after Scott Carson had blocked his initial shot, setting up Darren Fletcher for the easiest of finishes.

Newcastle United 2 v 1 Liverpool
It all started so well for Liverpool after Bellamy made the most of an error by goalkeeper Steve Harper to give them a sixth-minute lead. However, a mistake from Harper’s opposite number Jose Reina handed Obafemi Martins the chance to level with his 12th goal of the season after 26 minutes, and Nolberto Solano snatched the points with a 69th-minute penalty.

Portsmouth 2 v 1 Manchester City
Mendes scored with a stunning 25-yard strike in only the fifth minute, Bernardo Corradi produced an equaliser just after the hour only to see that overtaken by substitute Kanu’s 12th goal of the season late on.

Reading 2 v 0 Aston Villa
Steve Sidwell scored in each half as Reading consolidated sixth spot in the Barclays Premiership with a 2-0 victory over Aston Villa in an entertaining game at the Madejski Stadium.

Sheffield United 2 v 1 Tottenham Hotspur
Sheffield United skipper Phil Jagielka thundered home a penalty to lift the Blades 10 points clear of the relegation zone and pile on the awayday agony for Tottenham Hotspur. Manager Neil Warnock’s side produced a superb come-from-behind win after Jermaine Jenas had delightfully lobbed Tottenham in front in the second minute at Bramall Lane. Striker Rob Hulse hauled United level 25 minutes later before Jagielka clinched the points with a match-winning spot-kick just after the hour.

West Ham United 0 v 1 Watford
Darius Henderson’s penalty condemned Alan Curbishley’s side to another morale-sapping reverse and some Hammers fans let the players know what they thought at the final whistle.

Sunday 11th February 2007

Arsenal 2 v 1 Wigan Athletic
Arsenal left it late to maintain their unbeaten Emirates Stadium record when they came from behind to see off relegation battlers Wigan Athletic. A brilliant strike from Denny Landzaat had given the Latics a shock half-time lead. The Gunners, though, produced their now customary late rally to secure victory through an own goal from Fitz Hall and a Tomas Rosicky header six minutes from time.

Bolton Wanderers 2 v 1 Fulham
Bolton made it hard for themselves, however, after going into a two-goal lead. Zat Knight stretched their nerves and the crowd’s to breaking point by pulling a goal back after Nolan had added to Gary Speed's penalty-spot opener.

This update will add some competitions to the game and, most of all, an EXTENSIVE and extremely detailed update with the last transfers of the winter market: this update will include the following leagues: Italian serie A, B, C1A and C1B, Germany 1 Bundesliga and 2 Bundesliga, French Ligue 1, English Premier and Coca-Cola Championship, Spanish Primera and Segunda, Argentina Primera, Brazilian Serie A, Mexican Primera and Primera A, Scottish Premier, Swedish Allsvenskan, Turkish League, Czech Gambrinus Liga: so a very huge update with the very last transfers, with the new young talents emerged during this season. The release for this update is scheduled for this weekend (10/11 February) so stay tuned for further infos on release.

For all the leagues updated with the 3.2 version I've gathered the pictures for the miniheads addon, so very soon we'll have another huge pack of miniheads for your game, making each player absolutely realistic and individual. We' ve received tons of contributions too and we are trying to select and organizing all the stuff received. In the meanwhile, for the CEP Chants Addon: Esterry release a new Chants Patch, version 1.3, that helps solving some problems with larger chants packs and with some languages incompatibility: you can find this patch and the infos on how to install it in the Chants section: of the website. The team of updaters for the CEP is taking form and very soon I'll realize a new section of the website including informations on this team and on how to contribute to the project.

English Premier League Review

English Premier League ReviewWe bring you all the latest news from this weekend's games in the English Premiership.

Saturday 3rd February 2007

Aston Villa 1 v 0 West Ham United
John Carew became an instant hero with the Aston Villa fans when he scored on his home debut to plunge West Ham United deeper into relegation trouble.

Chelsea 3 v 0 Blackburn Rovers
Morten Gamst Pedersen broke Sheffield United hearts with a stunning free-kick winner deep into injury time to give 10-man Blackburn Rovers three points at Ewood Park. The Blades looked set to clinch a draw after Rovers old boy Jon Stead struck a 25th-minute equaliser shortly after Pedersen had headed the home side into an early lead.

Charlton Athletic 0 v 1 Chelsea
Chelsea closed to within three points of Barclays Premiership leaders Manchester United - but were made to work for their 1-0 win over relegation-threatened Charlton Athletic. Frank Lampard’s fine long-range effort midway through the first half - an eighth goal in as many matches for the England midfielder - proved enough to settle matters at The Valley.

Fulham 2 v 1 Newcastle United
Second-half goals from Fulham strikers Heidar Helguson and Brian McBride shot down Newcastle United and gave the London side a notable double. Obafemi Martins stoppage-time goal was just a consolation for the visitors.

Liverpool 0 v 0 Everton
The 205th Merseyside derby promised a lot but ultimately failed to deliver as Everton scrapped a hard-fought goalless draw on their short trip across Stanley Park.

Manchester City 0 v 2 Reading
Leroy Lita sent Reading home dreaming of Europe with a second-half brace to beat Manchester City at the City of Manchester Stadium.

Middlesbrough 1 v 1 Arsenal
Arsene Wenger’s men looked to be heading for their first defeat in nine games when Ayegbeni Yakubu made the most of Philippe Senderos’ dismissal for a professional foul on him by converting the resulting 63rd-minute penalty. But Henry rescued the visitors 13 minutes from time when he slotted home after Emmanuel Adebayor had headed down Kolo Toure’s cross.

Watford 0 v 1 Bolton Wanderers
Nicolas Anelka's second-half strike put Bolton Wanderers back on course for a European place and left Watford rooted to the foot of the Barclays Premiership.

Wigan Athletic 1 v 0 Portsmouth
Winger Lee McCulloch proved he is still committed to the Wigan Athletic cause by smashing home a priceless winner to end the Latics' depressing run of nine straight defeats in all competitions.

Sunday 4th February 2007

Tottenham Hotspur 0 v 4 Manchester United
Manchester United restored their six-point lead at the top of the Barclays Premiership with an emphatic 4-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane. Cristiano Ronaldo scored the opener from the penalty spot on the stroke of half-time. Ronaldo turned in another dazzling display on the flanks and set up Paul Scholes for United’s third after Nemanja Vidic had doubled the lead. Ryan Giggs ran through to add to Spurs’ embarrassment late on and John O’Shea finished in goal as Edwin van der Sar broke his nose and United had used all their substitutes.

Carling Cup Semi Final News - Arsenal 3 v 1 Tottenham (agg 5v3)Jeremie Aliadiere smashed home in extra time to finally break Spurs' resistance and help fire Arsenal to a Carling Cup final place against rivals Chelsea.

The Gunners dominated a lively tie and took the lead when Emmanuel Adebayor slipped in Tomas Rosicky's pass neatly.

Spurs sent the game into extra time against the odds when Mido headed in.

But Arsenal sealed a 5-3 aggregate win when Aliadiere got onto Ricardo Rocha's slip and Pascal Chimbonda's unfortunate own goal ruined Spurs' comeback hopes.

English Premier League Review

English Premier League ReviewWe bring you all the latest news from last night's games in the English Premiership.

Bolton Wanderers 1 v 1 Charlton Athletic
Charlton Athletic clung on for a precious point in their fight to beat the Barclays Premiership drop after withstanding a sustained second-half assault at Bolton Wanderers. Henrik Pedersen had headed the home side into a sixth-minute lead but the Addicks were only behind for six minutes before Jussi Jaaskelainen was deceived by Talal El Karkouri’s free-kick.

Chelsea 3 v 0 Blackburn Rovers
Goals from Didier Drogba, Frank Lampard and substitute Salomon Kalou against Blackburn Rovers kept Chelsea in touch with leaders Manchester United at the top of the Barclays Premiership.

Manchester United 4 v 0 Watford
Manchester United maintained their six-point lead at the Barclays Premiership summit with an Old Trafford victory stroll against rock-bottom Watford. After Cristiano Ronaldo had slammed the hosts in front with his 14th goal of the season and Lloyd Doyley had doubled their lead with an unfortunate own goal, Henrik Larsson and Wayne Rooney also found the target as United recorded their biggest win since a similar-sized success at Bolton Wanderers three months ago.

Newcastle United 3 v 1 Aston Villa
Glenn Roeder’s men looked to have victory all but wrapped up inside the opening seven minutes when James Milner, who spent last season on loan at Villa Park, and Kieron Dyer fired them into a 2-0 lead. However the visitors, who started with a new-look strike force of Ashley Young and John Carew, pulled a goal back when the former Watford star opened his account on 25 minutes. Substitute Antoine Sibierski made sure of the win at the end.
