Our apologies to Fifamania

Ramon and myself would like to apologise to the Fifamania team and I can assure everybody there was no intention to try and rubbish their work - which we all know is excellent. Ramon has done a first class job with his reviews and in this one there were just a few misunderstandings. We hope everybody can now move forwards as far as this issue is concerned.

Please find below a few words from Ramon.

"I would like to apologize to the Fifamania team for failing to fix an error that was included from my first rough draft of the review. It incorrectly stated that the kits were outdated and that some were missing in the final paragraph. Earlier in the review I had said that every team was supplied with their kit and the kits were well done while not exceptional, or something to that effect. The final paragraph caused major confusion and enraged the Fifamania team. I promptly have corrected this, and apologize deeply to the great Fifamania team for unintentionally degrading their work. I also forgot to change the score from the first draft, and have raised it according to the second draft. Sorry, Fifamania. This won't happen again".

The review has now been amended to reflect this. Sorry again as we are trying to offer a quality service to you all and not to rubbish people's work.

European Clubs Patch Under Development

I have received the following great story from Dimitris Vagianos from HSN:

"This year the HSN and many helpers worldwide will create the best (personal opinion) patch that has ever been made for the FIFA series. The patch calls itself 'European Clubs Patch' or in shorter ECP. The name European comes because we will have only European Clubs (we wont touch the National Teams) and only one South American Team the Boca Juniors (with kits, rosters, badges, flags) in case you want to play the Toyota Cup Final for the World Champion :-))

The idea started in my mind two weeks before when I really needed to play with great East European Clubs such as Crvena Zveda, Partizan Beograd, Steaua Bucarest, Cska Sofia, Spartak Moscow, Dynamo Kiev, Galatasaray, Sparta Praha, Haiduk Split, Legia Warsaw and many others and wasn't able. So I started to contact European guys and I was amazed from their willing mood (a big thank you to the guys from Poland first).

Why I say all this? Because I want to make it clear that it is not a personal patch but its your patch. A patch that will be created from your work.

Press against me for a larger imageThe ECP will feature 80 missing European Clubs from 26 Countries with their kits, flags, badges, rosters and their National Teams from Russia-Georgia-Lithuania-Ukrania-Belarus-Latvia-Poland-Yugoslavia-Slovakia-Czech Republic-Croatia-Slovenia-Buglaria-Romania-Iceland-Finland-Luxemburg-Hungary-Malta-Switzerland-Turkey-Cyprus-Portugal-Wales-Northen Ireland-Bosnia)

Very soon we are going to tell you exactly which team every League will have in the patch. The ECP will also feature Adboards, Balls, signs, TV Logos, new boots and other misc. things.

If anyone from you is willing to help just e-mail us (asn@freemail.gr). We want BIG help from anyone fan of the above added Leagues. We need kit creators , rosters maker and graphics designers to be added to our Group . Of course in ECP there will be the kits, the rosters, the flags and the badges of the remaining Clubs with their National Teams. Also we will try to create the Champions League Star logo in the sleeves of the participants teams .

We are in contact with many great kit creators to take their permission so we can use their work. So need time before ECP be released (at least two months the full version or earlier a beta one). The patch will also be compatible with the excellent Sweetpatch MRA.

A big thank (so far) to our helpers and if you want to help don't hesitate. The url's are http://asn.fifagaming.com for the English Page and http://go.to/hsn for the Greek page with information in our language.

Also a new tournament its about to begin in the new year with many members already signed".

Pay the lads a visit and if you are able to assist them then please send them a mail. As always, full details of this patch can be found in the Patches Database.

Always make the MSS your first port of call for all issues regarding using your MRA.

The first in this series is dedicated to the new challenge that EA Sports have introduced with Fifa 2001, installing kits (and other graphics such as flags and faces) into the new .big files.

Tip of the Day

1. With the introduction of Fifa 2001's Big files, which contain a number of .fsh files, the MRA now makes it very easy for you to install the above files into your game.

  • you need to create an extra directory where the Big file is located with exactly the same name as the Big file
  • e.g. C:/Program Files/EA Sports/Fifa 2001/MRA Patches/Favorites/Player/kits.big/[*.fsh files here]
  • this rule applies for any .big files and works very well

Refer to screenshot below for graphical representation. (Click on image for larger picture).

2. Favorites have been provided so you can always have your favorite patches loaded in FIFA no matter what patch you have loaded.  This is especially useful if you have favorites such as:

  • Balls
  • Turfs
  • Stadiums
  • Jerseys
  • etc...

As with patches, the directory structure underneath Favorites must be the same as your FIFA game directory structure.

3. When you have done this just select Install Favorites as a Patch and the game will be loaded with all your favorite kits to play with.

We hope you found this a useful service. Any feedback on how we can improve this service will be greatly welcomed.

New Champions League Patch alá TV3 Viasat

I have just received news from my good friend Thomas Kiellerup from OnSide 2000:

"I have just finished our first patch for the FIFA 2001 game. (Only a beta-version, but fully functional!) The reason why we call it a beta-version, is because we want to make it better in a few weeks. The only "important" thing that is missing in our patch is transfers, but we hope to have it in the full version some time after new year.

The theme for this patch is Champions League on the TV-station TV3 Viasat, and has alot of nice stuff. Here is a little peak:

  • Champions league music on match start-up every time you play,
  • some very nice official Champions League ad boards, but also with our Onside 2001 logo, and one for the TV-station TV3 Viasat.
  • There is a Champions league football,
  • the "patch" that updates crowd to more realism,
  • new logos in gameplay,
  • Champions league adboards around the stadium, and so on.
  • We have also made an attack and offside icon, but in Danish. Offside is Offside in Danish, but attack is angrib".

Check out this great site, (then click on the Onside 2000 link to the site on the left of the screen), especially if you are a Danish fan, and you can download this patch by clicking here.

Full details of this and all patches can be found in the World's No. 1 Patches Database.

Version 3.0 of The FIFA RTWC Official Update is released

AT LAST! THIS IS WHAT WE ALL HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR! Version 3.0 of The FIFA RTWC Official Update is released and available for download and it is better than ever!

The update now includes the REAL EUROPEAN WORLD CUP QUALIFYING GROUPS! Now it is possible to see if YOU have got what it takes to take your country to the 2002 World Cup!

The goal that Nike the Bike had when he started with this update was to update every single team in the game. This far all teams that participated in:

  • EURO 2000,
  • the South American World Cup-Qualifying group,
  • the Swedish,
  • Italian,
  • English and
  • Spanish leagues
  • along with other top clubs from around the world

are completely updated with accurate squads, kits and attributes based on stats from Championship Manager 99/00.

New European and American teams have been added, all not yet fully updated though. This update also includes LOTS of new kits, three colored striped shorts, socks and sleeves that make the game look much better. There are also new adboards, new turfs and a new goal that looks much deeper and realistic than the original one.

You can replay the Champions league final, play the next Serie A or Premier league season and why not go for the glory in your own EURO 2000 or qualify for the FIFA 2002 World Cup?

Additions to this version of the update are:

  • some new European national teams,
  • THE REAL EUROPEAN WORLD CUP QUALIFYING GROUPS and new turfs.
  • There are new kits for many teams that fit better to the striped arms and many new transfers!
  • Many national teams are also updated...

For a full feature list of this patch check out the Patches Database and then download this great patch and much else from http://www.fifartwc.com
