Tudor to Manchester United?

Juventus’s defender, Igor Tudor, is dreaming of a move to English titan Manchester United.

The 15million-rated defender, recently named Croatian player of the year, got a taste for the English game during Juventus' Champions League defeat against Arsenal earlier this month.

Tudor To United

"It has always been my dream to play over there,", the 23-year-old said, “I love the English style. I will never forget the incredible crowd at Highbury. Merely the thought of it gives me goose bumps.

"Manchester United are the biggest club in the world and would be a dream-come-true option.

"Juve are a big club as well and I feel comfortable with them at the moment. If I leave them it will only be to play for a club of similar tradition, but such clubs can only be found in the English or Scottish leagues.

Serie A round-up

Inter Milan’s striker Ronaldo limped off injured of the field as Inter beat Piacenza 3-2 to go to the top of Serie A.

The Brazilian super-star had an thigh strain which was not thought to be real serious, but his enforced substitution overshadowed Christian Vieri's two goals.

Serie A Roundup

On the other side of the road, AC Milan beat Verona 2-1 thanks to a last-minute goal by Romanian defender Cosmin Contra. Massimo Ambrosini scored Milan's other goal in his first appearance after an 11-month injury lay-off.

“Old Lady” Juventus cruised past over Brescia 4-0 to stay within striking distance as French striker David Trezeguet scored a goal and set up another.

Parma ended a six-game losing period with a 2-0 win over Fiorentina, while Perugia beat Atalanta 2-0, Torino fell to last-place Venezia 2-1 and Lecce beat Udinese 1-0.

Serie A's surprising team, Chievo, failed to surprising champions AS Roma, as the Italian champions defeated them 3-0. Chievo were undone by goals from Emerson, Walter Samuel and Damiano Tommasi. Both sides were reduced to 10-men, with Roma keeper Francesco Antonioli dismissed eight minutes into the second-half but with 11 minutes left Cheivo's ex-Bologna Eriberto got his red card.

Lazio blew a 2-0 solid lead to draw with Bologna 2-2. Claudio “Piojo” Lopez had given the home side a two-goal advantage, but strikes by Julio Cruz and Cristian Zaccardo ensured a share of the points. Dejan Stankovic was sent off for Lazio with 24 minutes remaining.

Anelka joins Liverpool

Nicolas Anelka has joined Liverpool on a loan until the end of the season, with an option to a permanent move.

Nicolas Anelka to Liverpool

Liverpool have agreed terms with both Paris Saint Germain and the french star, subject to the successful completion of a medical. The deal also includes the option to buy the player at the end of the loan period.

Anelka made his name at Arsenal in their double winning season, than he moved from the Gunners to Spanish giants Real Madrid before returning to PSG and his homeland after one season.

Liverpool's move for Anelka comes just three weeks after Robbie Fowler's move to Leeds, and a lot of eyebrowns are now raised from the press and the fans about the signing of Anelka “instead” of Red’s symbol, Fowler.

Paolo Maldini out for 2 months

AC Milan’s captain, Paolo Maldini, have diagnosed his injury and it’s isn't as bad as it seemed.

A great sigh of relief came from Maldini, Ancelotti and Giovanni Trapattoni, who does not want to lose his captain for the World Cup.

Paolo Maldini’s Injury

The injury looked much worse than it actually is, and there was a fear that Maldini will miss the World Cup in Korea and Japan.

Maldini was told that he will be out for two months, as he has partially lesioned his knee ligament.

It is always difficult to say when he will make his come back, but if everything goes to plan he should be back in a couple of months” said Milan’s doctor.

Serie A round-up

Ronaldo scored twice in five minutes to lift Inter Milan to a 3-0 win over Verona and a return pass to the top of the Serie A standings.

The Brazilian super-star showed signs of his past brilliance and it looks like he is finally fully back.

"I feel good, very good. But I still want to improve," Ronaldo said after the game. "It has been tough overcoming the psychological trauma, but my team and coach have helped me.".

Welcome Back Ronaldo

Serie A Defending champion, AS Roma, and the league’s surprise, Chievo Verona, came into the week tied for the Italian league lead, but neither could hold its spot.

Chievo didn't get the chance, when its game against Lazio was postponed because of an icy field. Roma couldn't take advantage of a weak opponent at home, drawing 0-0 with Brescia.

Two other northern Italians titans, AC Milan and Juventus, both settled for draws against weaker opponents.

Ukraine striker Andriy Shevchenko earned his club's 1-1 result with a header in the 57th after a first-half goal by Atalanta’s defender Luigi Sala. Milan captain Paolo Maldini went down in the first half with a left knee injury.

Juventus couldn't hold its lead against a struggling Fiorentina, allowing a goal by Portugul's Nuno Gomes after France's David Trezeguet had given the lead to Juve..

The game between Chievo and Lazio was postponed because the field at Verona's Bentegodi stadium was too icy.

In other games, Udinese beat Bologna 1-0, Perugia outgunned Lecce 3-2, Torino handed Parma its sixth straight loss on a Marco Ferrante goal and Piacenza beat Venezia 3-2.

Before departing for two weeks in Europe, Guus Hiddink on Wednesday spoke about his first year in the job as Korean national team head coach, as well as about the challenges that await the team over the coming six months. Overall, Hiddink said he was satisfied with the progress made since his appointment at the end of 2000.

"With six months to go before the final period of the world championship, I think we're on schedule regarding my plan to build up a team to be competitive next June," he told a press conference at Korean Football Association headquarters in central Seoul.

"The team is beginning to find stability. They're gaining confidence, and they now believe they can compete with the world's good teams," he explained.

The coach paid tribute to the work put in by the players over the past year, confirming that they are starting to play the kind of football he wants, but admitted there is still work to do.

Who's next on Parma

Daniel Passarella has been fired as Parma coach after just six weeks in the job.

Passarella, the former Argentina manager, saw his side lose five consecutive league matches after taking over from Renzo Ulivieri last month.

The final straw for the board came as Parma crashed 4-1 to Atalanta over the weekend. Parma currently sit just one place from the "red line" on Serie A, with two wins from 14 games.

Gedeone Carmignani will take temporary charge of the team for the game against Torino. Italian media reports have linked former Parma coaches Nevio Scala and Arrigo Sacchi with the job.

New week, new look

As we enter the festive period and a very exciting time in my personal life, my very good friend Shlomy has developed some great new artwork for the site. The new images emphasise our vision of bringing the world of virtual reality soccer (Fifa) closer together with the world of real soccer. This has been achieved at the site through the popular introduction of our Real Soccer News articles combined with our comprehensive coverage of Fifa Super Patches (which provide the realism touch to our Fifa gaming experience).

We know the images are rather heavy on the Kb stakes but as they only have to be downloaded once and then are cached we hope you feel the benefits outweigh the initial penalty. Please let us know in the Forum what you think of these new images.

As I mentioned above, the next few weeks are very exciting personally as I await Witts junior number 3 to arrive plus my other baby, Sweetpatch MRA 2002 is due to be delivered in the next week or 2.

Finally, a BIG thank you to Shlomy for his persistence and patience in developing these to my specification, thanks mate.

Chelsea 4 v 0 Liverpool

What a great game of football to watch and a great day to be a Chelsea fan. This game was a real credit to the Premiership as it possessed everything. Great skill, lots of pace, enthusiasm and a desire to win from both sides.

Screenshots Great penalty save Gudjohnsen 4 - 0!

What was the main difference between the teams? In my opinion it was the following:

  • Cudicini was fantastic in goal again (including penalty save)
  • Sam Della Bonna was inspirational in the centre of the park and linked very well with Frankie Lampard
  • Jimmy was always a threat upfront and very well supported by Eidur Gudjohnsen
  • Gallas and Terry are maybe only 2nd behind Hypia and Henchoz as the best defensive partnership in the Premiership
  • Liverpool just seemed to have too many changes with players who you would not class as the first XI (no disrespect but it is things like this that make a difference at this level).

Read the full story over at the Official Chelsea website. On this form both these teams will be there and there abouts in May.

Zidane's Last World Cup?

France Midfielder, Zinedine Zidane, could be playing in his final World Cup in Korea and Japan.

The Real Madrid player hopes that France will become the first country, since Brazil in 1962, to successfully defend the World Cup trophy.

But Zidane, who will be 30 in June, suggested he may not be around for the 2006 finals which will take place in Germany.

Any text if you want it here

"We are stronger than we were in 1998 and at Euro 2000," ,zidane told to the French magazine "Onze Mondial".

"Our motivation is also stronger than ever and we have what it takes to clinch a second title. It will be the summit of my career, I'll be 30 for my last World Cup.”.

Zidane admitted he can see the days after his football career is over, which probably won’t be an extended football related career.

"I have started to think about my future over the past few months and to be honest with you, it is still very vague," ,Zizu added, “I would like to remain in football, but what I want above everything is to be left alone.

"So I don't think becoming a coach would be a good idea, but working with kids, why not?

"But for now I still have three or four years ahead of me, I have not finished yet.

Latest news from Soccer Access

Xavier has 2 interesting updates for you today from over at Soccer Access.

  1. 2GK-4S kits released
Ariel Santarelli has released his new editing technique called 2GK-4S (sleeves) kits! Four sleeves for your kits to make them look more realistic! The new 2GK-4S kits include 2 images for the right sleeve (one long and one short) and 2 images for the left one (one long and one short).

He has included the 2GK-4S kits essential files in a patch called "2GK-4S Combo". This patch does not only include the texture files, it also includes their new program Kit Converter! This program allows you to convert your 2GK kits to the new 2GK-4S format. Do you want more? You've got it! They included 2 fantastic kits: Barcelona and Roma Home kits (Champions League version) made by Federico de Blasio and Jin Man Bae! Download this great patch in their Download Zone.

    Click for larger image
  1. Local News
They now include a new feature at their site called "Local news". If you go to any page in the SA site, you will be redirected to a special page that will ask you to choose your country/continent. Based on that info (you'll only have to select your country/continent once every year), you'll now see a new category called "Local news". The local news will be taken from web pages of their network in your continent like FifaCenter.org, FifaKorea.net, FifaEngland.com, FifaBrasil.com and FifaEngland.com. Therefore, if you're European you don't have to see the Latin American news, Asian news.. and so on. You're invited to try this script and give them your feedback.

Also coming soon is the Ecuadorian Away 2GK-4S kits and news about Kit Raptor 2.0 and Adboard Raptor. The Raptor saga continues thanks to the comments and feedback of the people who use their Forums. They plan to release more stable versions of their most popular programs in the upcoming months.

Check out all this great news over at Soccer Access.

Beckham: I've worked hard for United

David Beckham has once again countered the latest rumours surrounding his future of his commitment to Manchester United.

Beckham, who came off the bench as United got their sixth Premiership defeat couple of days ago, is currently in talks concerning a new contract though the reports of interest from abroad.

Beckham Will Stay At Manchester

Beckham is determined to stay with the United and fix the latest problems of the Old Trafford’s side.

He said: "I think I've made the last 10 years my commitment to Manchester United, I think I've worked hard for them. I want to carry on playing for Manchester United, that's the team I support and the place where I'm most loved by the fans, and I love them."

Beckham has been rested by Ferguson for the United's last two games, which they lost, but he accepts the manager's decision was justified: "I think deep down I needed a rest. I'd never admit it to myself or anyone else but deep down I did.

I am not going to question the manager - it's his decision and I respect it. Of course I want to play every game, but that's not possible.

However Beckham says he’s disagree with his manager on one thing, the destiny of the Premiership title. Ferguson said that he doesn’t think United will win the Championship this year, but the midfielder thinks differently.

"As players we have got to believe that we can still be in with a chance, but we will have to wait and see," ,Beckham said, "I can't put my finger on why it has happened, it is just one of those things. But this team will come together and will stay together as a team."

Ronaldo is finally back!

Brazilian super-star, Ronaldo finally scored his first goal in over two years on Sunday to lead Inter Milan to a 3-1 win over Brescia.

Ronaldo finished confidently following a neat one-two with strike partner Christian Vieri in the 19th minute as manager Hector Cuper was finally able to let his 30million strikeforce loose on Serie A.

"I am delighted, it was a great day," Ronaldo said. "I want to thank our coach, Hector Cuper, who had faith in me and let me start from the first minute."

Ronaldo also thanked his fans across the globe: "I would like to take the time to thank the fans everywhere who have been with me throughout my recovery, It was really a big help to have such support from everyone."

Ronaldo Is Back!

Ronaldo, who was starting only his second Serie A game of the season after two years out with injury, has been limited to late substitute appearances in recent weeks.

Ronaldo's last competitive goal came in November 1999 (!!) when he scored in a 6-0 victory over Lecce before limping out with a knee injury.

Just a minute after Ronaldo's goal, Brescia drew level through Albanian Igli Tare, but Christian Vieri scored twice in the second half to keep his team at the top of the standings of the Serie A.

Vieri and Ronaldo make an amazing strikers pair, but this pair had only played 121 minutes together at the club and have not appeared in the same Inter starting team since the big derby of Milan on October 23, 1999.

We all hope Ronaldo getting back to fitness as soon as possible, and hope to see him in the World Cup as well.

Premier League review

Liverpool kept their lead at the top of the table with an easy 2-0 victory against Middlesbrough.

Liverpool, who are now six points clear, never looked like struggling against Boro.

Amazing Michael Owen struck his 20th goal of the season after Boro lost it’s goal-keeper, Mark Crossley, with a serious looking injury.

Patrick Berger added the second goal on the stroke of the half-time as Liverpool's good run continued.

Premier League Review

Manchester United lost again, this time 1-0 at home against West Ham United after David Beckham was again left on the bench.

Jermain Defoe won it for the Hammers with a fine header from Paolo di Canio's 64th minute cross.

United tried endlessly to hit back with Mikael Silvestre denied an equaliser by a superb save by David James.

Charlton shattered Tottenham's hopes of climbing into the top three as they won 3-1 against the spurs.

Graham Stuart put Charlton ahead on his 100th appearance for the club following a Dean Richards error. Kevin Lisbie struck twice for Charlton before Gustavo Poyet netted a late consolation as Spurs' impressive run came to an end.

Derby County picked up three vital points with a 1-0 victory at home against Bolton. Malcolm Christie broke the deadlock as the Rams kept Bolton down.

Fulham enjoyed a 2-0 win against Everton at Craven Cottage.
The Cottagers went ahead just before half-time when Barry Hayles scored Rufus Brevett's cross. And it was Hayles who tapped in Fulham's second following a corner as Fulham made it six games without losing.

Southampton secured a crucial 4-0 win at fellow strugglers Leicester City.

Anders Svensson took just 12 minutes to volley the Saints ahead from a Marian Pahars flick-on. James Beattie added the second and another goal from Svensson and the fourth from Pahars wrapped up the win.

FIFA RTWC Official Update Version 3.7

Nike the Bike has informed us of this great news for fans of Fifa RTWC 98. The FIFA RTWC Update is BACK with the most massive update EVER!

FIFA RTWC Official Update

They have now, at last, managed to solve the well known flag and speech problems! Now all national teams will have their real flags in the team select menu and they will also be commented correct in the game. They have also updated the speech of many club teams, either making them not commented if they aren't available for speech or commented by their real name. An example for this is Galatasaray that now are commented. He also fixed the scoring tables for league play, so now when you play in a league or RTWC mode you will have much more competition for the top scoring positions! Now also ALL teams that will participate in the FIFA World Cup 2002 has completely updated squads!

This update includes the REAL EUROPEAN WORLD CUP QUALIFYING GROUPS with completely updated squads for all participating teams! Now it is possible to see if YOU have got what it takes to take your country to the 2002 World Cup! The ingame editor will crash because of the new jerseys, so if you want to edit anything, I recommend using Fed98 that can be found from the FIFA RTWC site.

The goal they had when they started with this update was to update every single team in the game. Just look at what they have achieved:

  • UEFA, the CONMEBOL, the CONCACAF, the Swedish, Italian, English and Spanish leagues along with other top clubs from around the world are completely updated with accurate squads, kits and attributes based on stats from Championship Manager 00/01
  • New European and American teams has been added, all not yet fully updated though, but they will be eventually
  • This update also includes LOTS of new realistic kits, three colored striped shorts, socks and sleeves that make the game look much better
  • There are also new adboards, new turfs and a new goal that looks much deeper and realistic than the original one.
  • All goalies have updated stats to make their play more realistic.
  • You can replay the Champions league final, play the next Serie A or Premier league season, play lots of exciting friendlies and more!
  • All speech and flags for national teams are now correct
  • All World Cup 2002 participants now have updated squads

Also download the great Speech Upgrade, available from http://www.fifartwc.cjb.net! It updates speech and makes previously uncommented players like Verón, Vieri, Rivaldo, Salas and Roberto Carlos commented!

There is loads more information regarding this patch and the updated teams in the Patches Database. Check it out and then visit the home of the ultimate Fifa RTWC 98 update at http://www.fifartwc.cjb.net/. Look out for the coming FIFA RTWC World Cup 2002 Update which will make it possible for you to play in the World Cup with correct teams!

Champions League latest results

England’s Champions Manchester United awoke from their Premiership nightmare to put themselves firmly on course for the Champions League quarter-finals.

Old Trafford was filled with a singing of 'United are back' as Ruud van Nistelrooy continued his hot scoring streak in Europe to help United achieve an easy 3-0 win over Portugies Boavista.

The Dutchman converted Phil Neville's centre on 31 minutes and then slotted home on 60 minutes to register his fifth and sixth Champions League goals in his seventh euro appearance, what an amazing record.

A thunderous header from French defender Laurent Blanc separated the Dutchman's strikes and completed a good night's work for the 36-year-old who impressed at the heart of defence.

United now go into the Champions League winter break on top of Group A on goal difference following Bayern Munich's narrow 1-0 win in Nantes.

Champions League 2nd day

A second-half goal from Brazilian Paulo Sergio gave Bayern Munich a well-earned away victory against Nantes.

The result was even more satisfying for defending champions Bayern, who were without influential midfielder Stefan Effenberg and keeper Oliver Kahn.

Liverpool delivered a highly competent performance to reignite their Champions League hopes with a 0-0 draw against Italians champions Roma in group B.

Roma opened with only one striker, Gabriel Batistuta only to see Liverpool dominating the first half thanks to their ability to retain possession more effectively than they had been able to do in their 3-1 defeat to Barcelona a fortnight ago at Anfield.

Roma were a much more potent threat after the interval, but to Liverpool's credit, the home side struggled to create any clear openings.

A seconed half brace from Javier Saviola ensured Barcelona claimed a 2-2 draw at home to a Galatasaray side that finished the game with nine players.

Umit Karan was credited with heading the opening goal on five minutes, although Patrik Andersson may have supplied the final touch. Andres Fleurquin made it 2-0 after 41 minutes as he touched in the rebound after Umit's header was saved.

Saviola pulled one back on 49 minutes, when he fired an Overmars ball back into the area. And after Capone had been sent off for a late challenge on Rivaldo on 62nd minute, the young Argentinian striker levelled the score with a second close-range goal.

Hakan Unsal was the second Galatasaray player to be sent off after he received a second yellow card in the dying seconds of the game.

Champions League

Arsenal got their first points of the Champions League second phase with a superb victory over Italian giants Juventus.

The game was a personal triumph for Freddie Ljungberg, whose two goals started and ended the scoring in this great game.

Thierry Henry added the other Gunners goal from a free-kick, while the Juventus goal came from an unlucky own goal by Arsenal goalkeeper Stuart Taylor.

With Deportivo La Coruna losing their game, Group D is wide open again with all four teams taking three points from the opening two games.

Champions League Tuseday

Bayer Leverkusen produced three second-half goals to stun Deportivo La Coruna and keep alive their chances of qualifying to the knockout stages of the Champions League.

Brazilian midfielder Ze Roberto started the rout with a superb free kick from outside the area on 64 minutes. The second goal came from In-form striker Oliver Neuville, three minutes later after collecting a fine pass from midfielder Carsten Ramelow. The night was completed by German international Michael Ballack, who headed home a corner 11 minutes from time.

Real Madrid, lacking midfielders Claude Makelele and Steve McManaman, didn’t had much problems winning over Panathinaikos 3-0.

Two goals from Raul propelled them to a comfortable home win over the Greek Champions League Group C rivals.

Raul added two second-half strikes after Ivan Helguera had opened the scoring just before the interval.

The Spanish champions now have six points out of a possible six points in their group while the Greek club has just one point from two outings.

Sparta Prague's Libor Sionko scored against the run of play to secure a 1-0 win for the Czech Republic side against FC Porto in the European Champions League group C game.

The win, only the Czechs' third victory on the road in their last 16 matches in the competition, revived Sparta's campaign.

Beckham: People love to criticise us

England’s captain, David Beckham, has admitted that the confidence is low at Manchester United, but strongly denies the claims that he is saving his best performances for internationals games.

As United have uncharacteristically slumped to eighth place in the Premiership, Beckham and his England colleagues at Old Trafford have come in for criticism suggesting that their first priority is with their country.

Beckham speaks out

But the midfielder says such claims are nonsense, and insists that the Uniteds’ renowned siege mentality will see them through their current low.

"Since the England game, the England lads have been getting stick saying we only do it in the England games," , Beckham said, "That's part and parcel of being at Man United. People love to criticise Manchester United because they are the biggest club”.

"Obviously there have been problems, but we're a strong team with strong players and we will get through it between us.

"People have been trying to pinpoint what's wrong. Everybody has been coming out in the papers and saying things, but the only people who knows is us and it's up to us to get ourselves out of it.

Inzaghi

The 28 year old collided with Chievo goalkeeper Cristiano Lupatelli in the 61st minute.

He had earlier scored a goal, taking his tally to six in Serie A so far this season.

A decision on whether surgery is needed will be made over the next two or three days, but the injury is hard and will take him out for at least 2 months.

McManaman still injured

Real Madrid's left midfielder Steve McManaman will miss Tuesday's European Champions League clash with Greek club Panathinaikos.

McManaman is still suffering from the same back strain he suffered in last week's Spanish Cup 3-1 victory over third-division Lanzarote, in which he was substituted at halftime.

He also missed Real Madrid's 2-1 victory over Osasuna in the Spanish first division Saturday.

Other Real Madrid players definitely on the sidelines are the former Spanish international defender Ivan Campo and the Brazilian midfield pair of Flavio Conceicao and Savio.

Koeman to coach Ajax

Ajax have appointed former player Ronald Koeman to replace Co Adriaanse, who was sacked as the club's coach on Thursday.
Koeman, who was in charge at rivals Vitesse Arnhem, has been brought in to try to return Ajax to the summit of the Dutch league and further to the top of European football.

"I have the same feeling as when I went to Ajax as a 20-year-old." said Koeman.

The club have also named another former Ajax star, Ruud Krol, as Koeman's assistant. Krol was assistant to Dutch national team coach Louis van Gaal, who stepped down on Friday.

The new managerial duo will make their debut in Ajax's home game against Fortuna Sittard on tommorow.

Ajax are second in the Dutch first division and could take the lead from Feyenoord with a victory over bottom side Fortuna.

Chelsea enjoy biggest win at Man Utd since 1968

    Man Utd 0 Chelsea 3

What a match. What a record. Chelsea have now won more times in our annual meetings at the Theatre of Dreams than Sir Alex Ferguson’s men. Since he took over, our record here reads: played 14, lost three, drawn seven, won four.

    Click for larger image

The team took a customary Old Trafford lead after just five minutes to stun the home fans and set the capacity away following singing in the far corner. Mario Melchiot, charging across the penalty area, lost his marker and thundered a header from Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink’s corner back into the bottom of the net.

Man Utd then mounted plenty of pressure, dominating midfield and testing Chelsea’s back line with chips behind them for the fast forwards. Chelsea had problems, but hung on and started to counter and create the better opportunities.

The worry for the second-half was that Chelsea had so dominated the chances but only gone in with a one-goal lead.

But there were no problems as United continued to flounder on the central defensive security safe of Gallas and Terry. Indeed, the whole back four were outstanding.

Tension grew as the next goal would be so important. It came 18 minutes into the half, and Hasselbaink kept up his record against United. Veron gifted him the ball in the Chelsea half, but his forward pass for Gudjohnsen fell just behind the forward. Gudjohnsen controlled it well, advanced and found Hasselbaink steaming up on the right. The Dutchman steadied himself, took aim and hammered a cross shot past the defender and Barthez from a tight angle into the far corner. It was a wonderful strike. He turned and walked to the Chelsea fans in the corner where he punched the flag with ferocious delight.

United responded by pushing Keane forward from his new centre-back position into midfield. Cudicini, had to race from his area to make an outstanding block from the charging Veron. The ball broke to Scholes whose lob was goal bound, but the fantastic Gallas raced back to head off the line.

United were beaten. They were thrashed four minutes later. Gudjohnsen was waved onside by the linesman as he accelerated onto Babayaro’s pass, settled himself and powered Chelsea’s third across Barthez for his eighth goal of the season. He ran to the Chelsea fans and dived full-length in front of them. How the fans went mad.

Today’s 3-0 thrashing also equalled United’s worst ever Premiership defeat at Old Trafford, suffered at the hands of Everton in August 1992. That says it all about the magnitude of today’s win – one of those with the potential to set a season alight.

For all Chelsea fans, check out their great new website at www.chelseafc.co.uk. What a day and now off to watch it on the Premiership!
