Fifatology v0.5 is released

Over at the Fifatology site they proudly present a new version of their much talked about patch "FIFATOLOGY".

Check out this excellent screen shot

A lot of people ask how the patch will work - as you know, FIFATOLOGY will feature badges in the popups and every team with its own stadium, chants, fans, fanblocks, etc... but how is that possible?

It's a program that runs in the background. This program reads the userfile and realises which teams are chosen. For these teams, the program installs the specific stadiums, fans, chants, etc. in a few seconds.

This background program called "FIFA FX" will be a free source for everybody so that it can be used in other patches too ...Then soon, hopefully, all patches will feature displayed badges in the popups, unlimited stadium-numbers, etc... You can read the whole explanation (in German and English) over at the Fifatology site.

You will first have to install Version 0.4c and then install 0.5. Soon they can give you all answers to any questions about FIFATOLOGY and the program called FifaFX. They will also present a version of FifaFX without their Patch data, but with some examples, so it can be used by everybody.

For your information, Fifatology requires the following System requirements:

  • DirectX8 (!! Version Eight !!)
  • HTML-Help (comes with IE 4.01 or later versions)
  • Fifa 2001
  • Fifatology 0.4c
  • 60 MB disk space

Check out Fifatology site as this is a great breakthrough for Fifa gaming.

Great new Turkey Super Patch

This weekend we have a great treat for you all. Kerim Apaydin has sent me his brand new patch which the world has been waiting upon - the Turkey Super Patch. Along with the Portuguese League this has been the most requested league missing from within Fifa 2001. Wait no longer, you can now play Fifa 2001 with all the following features included:
  • home and away kits of Turkey national team
  • Turkey adboards
  • Turkey league header with Turkey name replaces France
  • ACCURATE and CORRECT rosters for all Turkey team
  • Turkey Teams Flags with crowds
  • Turkey League Badge
  • 2nd division teams in the Turkey Cup

You can download this patch directly from the Patches Database and it is ready to be loaded into your Fifa 2001 game using your Sweetpatch MRA.

Visit Kerim's TSP site

I have just spent the last hour playing it as Galatasaray and it is a great little patch. It also uses the feature of storing the kits in the root directory so Sweetpatch installs it in a flash as there is no need to use Gfxpak to pack it into the Kits.big file - this makes a massive difference to patch install times!

As a mark of respect, pop over to Kerim's Fifa site at http://www.geocities.com/kimimkim/fifa.htm

New FIFA 2001 Champions League Web Tournament

I have been informed of a new FIFA 2001 tournament which is different from others. Its being run by Robin Kikic and its in a Champions League style format with only 16 teams. Its graphically quite good and it is a simple, yet effective web site. I suggest people sign-up quickly as places are going fast. You can visit his site at FIFA 2001CL.

Or if you dont fancy a Champions League style format you can alternatively visit
FIFA 2001Europe where Lafferty is starting a league. According to him "there isn't much competition in the FIFA 2001 multiplayer matchup" so if you agree visit his site and sign-up now !

FifaTology breaks new ground in Fifa Gameplay

Check out this great news for us all direct from the Fifatology website:

"Well, actually we didn't want to say anything about the new Version until it's released, but now I had to read about theses rumours, that some Germans have "cracked" Fifa.........so I think we have to tell ya about it

Of course we haven't and I don't know who spread this and if it's even possible. The main thing in the next Version will be a program called "FifaFX" and I try to explain, how it works.

You start the C:\..\FIFA2001\FifaFX\FifaFX.exe from your Explorer and the program starts FIFA but remains in the background and always has an eye on the User-File. If there is now a Save occurrence on the User File (FIFA01) the program is activated and looks for the names of the Teams of the next game and also for the league. With these names FifaFX can start some Install-Scripts, which bring all the correct Data (Badges, Stadiums, Sounds...) to the right place. These Scripts are simple "install.bat" files (2 for every Team, Home and Away) which you should know and they are in a subfolder which has the exact name of the Team FIFA also uses in the Saved game. So FifaFX can be used by everybody for every Team !

But what does it mean to the game ?

Imagine you play a season with your favourite club and the only thing you have to do, is to save your game between two games. So, when I now consider what EA gave to us, I think this solution is OK."

Check out this excellent screen shot

This sounds like great news for us all as Fifa gameplay has now been taken to a new level. Excellent work the guys from Fifatology.

FIFA Liga Manager v1.0 Released

I have just received some exciting news about the Fifa Liga Manager, which has been eagerly anticipated. It’s an Internet program, which allows people who run online leagues to easily generate all the rankings etc. Dominik Weber tells us more:

"The FLM v1.0 (FIFA Liga Manager) is a big program that makes it easier to handle an Online League. So the Webmaster of the league just enters the result, and the program generates the ranking automatically. The program also has many more functions: for example it automatically generates the match days for the whole season and it automatically generates the list of goal getters."

The program runs with CGI and perl scripting languages and Dominik will even create an account for every user, so you don’t need a server that supports CGI. Good news thanks Dominik I look forward to seeing it run on many websites in the future!

Visit his website at Fifa 4 Players Or catch him on ICQ. His no is: 74366840.

Bosnian Super Patch 2001 Update

Nedim Erkocevic, who is one of the makers of the Bosnian Super Patch 2001, has informed me that they are going to delay the relase date of their patch. The reason is that one of their roster-makers is out of the team, so now the development is slowing down. As soon as they are finished with the rosters they will be sending me the patch. Unfortunately when, they don't know!

Check back here regularly as we will have all the latest news on this patch.

The Patch of Solidarity

We have received the following touching article from Christian over at Fifa Benelux with regard their special patch made for the Victims of the 1 January Volendam fire. Please take time to read this touching story.

01-01-2001
The close knit community spirit of a small Dutch fishing town is helping residents begin to come to terms with a New Year tragedy which claimed 10 lives. The 10 died when a café crowded with celebrating young people became engulfed in flames and smoke shortly after midnight on New Year's Day. More than 180 people were injured. The youngest victim so far was 13-years-old, with the others all aged under 25.

27-02-2001
Volendam stadium is home to the benefit match between FC Volendam and the Friends of Volendam team, a team full of stars including:

  • Gullit
  • Van Basten
  • Koeman
  • Kanu

After this match they decided to make a patch together with international FIFA-stars, so we'll never forget this special Match, trying to raise money for Giro 800 by letting sponsors pay a small amount of money for every time the patch is downloaded.

The Patch of Solidarity will feature:

  • the original Volendam "De Dijk" stadium built by DG (FIFAItalia) and Lunardon (FIFAMANIA)
  • Official Match of Solidarity Jersey's (H+A)
  • Official Line-up with the Volendam team and the Friends of Volendam stars team, including a lot of Holland '88 players, as mentioned above.

Press to visit home of the Patch of Solidarity

The Patch of Solidarity will hopefully be released on Friday March 9th. For now, they have built a sober website, which will be home to the Patch. On the site you'll find more information and background on both the disaster and the patch.

A closing thought:

"In the youth centres, at the schools, on street corners, everywhere they are coming together, especially the younger people. Every youngster in town has friends or relatives involved."

World Cup Patch info

I have just got news about the hugh patch, "Road to the World Cup":

"After about a month of time in development of my patch, I have decided to change the plans slightly.  I was originally planning on relying purely on donations from people who make kits, which was actually rather successful (46 teams now done).  However, I have decided that it would be much wiser to get an actual team of kit makers who want to devote themselves purely to this patch.  I will still gladly accept kits from people too busy to become fully involved, but this practice will take a backseat to the teams' own published kits.

There are simply too many for me to do alone, so I hope to get a group of at least 4-5 guys.  Obviously, experience in kit making is needed, and it should be noted that I will be using only 256 color kits (the "old technique") simply because the other methods do not work on all computers.

I already have a few possibilities, so if you would like to join the team visit my site and give me an email."

Thanks for the info mate.

Excellent new MRA Chat Room

As part of our continuous enhancements to add much more interactivity to the site, today sees the launch of our excellent new Sweetpatch MRA Chat Room.

"Oh no, not another chat room" I hear you say! Well this one is quite different. It enables you to communicate in your own language and will translate into the required language of all recipients.

Today as a test I communicated to Sebastien Neri in English. It translated it into French for him and then translated his French response into English for me. The translations are not always correct but you get a good idea of what is being said.

As part of our continuous upgrade to the site, when you visit the Chat Room page it will inform you of how many people are currently at the site with you and you can then enter the Chat Room to discuss any hot topics with them. You will also find staff from the MRA site in there from time to time to assist you with any issues - like me for its launch as Wittser!.

Please take a minute to visit and appreciate our brand new Chat Room which has been provided especially for you. Also, take some time to get to know the people who also visit this site while you are there.

It is how easy to install a Kit?

Xavier from Fifacentre.com has informed us of some exciting news for you all:

"When Soccer Gaming released the Downloads Centre I went to download a jersey to check if people still include Gfxpak in the jersey zip files as well as a .bat program. To my amazement they still do!

There's absolutely no need to use Gfxpak to install jerseys into the game. This method was discovered and used by Ariel Santarelli, however, people still don't seem to understand this. In the new tutorial section of Fifacentre.com not only will you discover how to install Fifa 2001 jerseys but you will also learn how you can install jerseys so easily in the game without even touching the "Kits.big" file!

And if this doesn't sound good enough to go and take a look at the new site in the Fifa scene, Fifacentre.com has also published the "Jersey Database". This is the ultimate database for patch developers. This database was made by Ariel Santarelli and it includes the number of the jersey of ALL the teams of ALL the leagues. If you're a patch developer you CAN'T loose your chance to save hours and hours of work! Do you want to know what jersey number your team use in the game? Come on, take a look at the relaunched Fifala international site - www.fifacentre.com"

Want to learn more, check out this and more news over at Fifacentre.com.

For your information your Sweetpatch MRA utility will support both this method and using Kits.big to install your Fifa 2001 kits. No need for .bat and Gfxpak, let the MRA do it all for you.
