"Upgrade and fixes" will try to solve the following problems:

  1. Error "Run-Time error '53' File not found: 'D:\Fifa 2002\wc teams\.gif' " fixed
  2. Challenges problems
  3. Fixes the gameplay problem where the player runs away when the other one tries a tackle
  4. Fixes the Tunisia kit problem

Screenshots Click for larger image Click for larger image

"Upgrade and fixes" also includes the WC Diagnosis application. It will tell you if the patch is correctly installed, if it's not then the WCDiagnosis will try to fix it. If you don't get a message like this one: "Patch enabled (disabled) and ok" it means that the WCDiagnosis could not fix the patch. So you will have to install the patch again.

Latest cool news from around the Fifa scene

Following on from the excitement of the release of the World Cup 2002 patch yesterday, today we have 2 great pieces of news from over at our partners at Fifa 2002.com. In Matt's words:

World Cup 2002 Demo News
There has been quite a bit of news come to hand in recent days concerning the World Cup 2002 demo.

About a week or so ago, Soccered shocked us all by releasing a WC2002 Demo with no sound. The game was great, but EA asked them to take it down as the demo had not yet been officially released. We have since found out that this demo was taken from a Coca-Cola promotion CD which you can currently get for free at any ASDA Supermarket in the UK. EA Sports have told Matt that the demo that we had available to us a week ago is NOT the completed version and there will be some changes to the full version of the game before it is released on April 26th.

Pre Order your copy of Fifa World Cup 2002 today!

The official demo is set to be released this week and you can already pre-order your copy of this game direct from FootyFirst.

FEd2002 Into Beta Testing Stage
Big news from Chau Le was posted in the forums today. Check out this topic. It seems like a release date for the much sort after FIFA 2002 editor is only days away. Matt also learnt that FEd2002 will be able to be used with World Cup 2002... seems the news just keeps getting better!

Thanks for these great updates Matt.

World Cup 2002 patch delayed until next weekend

I'm sure you will have noticed that this much awaited patch has been slightly delayed. In Ariel's words:

"Hi pals. I realized that the WC Stadiums did not work ok with 3GK and IGGex. When for the first time I played three matches in a row I noticed that the game jump to desktop. Why? The Stadiums has too many TPAGES. TPAGES are pages of 256x256 pixels where game textures are pasted. There is a limit of TPAGES. First we thought that the limit was 12 TPAGES. Now I notice that the limit is 6!

So I have to redo the stadiums textures. This will take some days. So we delay the WC patch for a few days. Don´t worry the problem will be solved and we will have this great patch for you. I´m working hard on it.

I hope you understand why we delay the patch release. We all want a patch that really works."

Screenshots Click for larger image Click for larger image

In the meantime check out these great screenshots above and the latest feature list below:

  • Fully compatible with any other patch you have. You can enable or disable the WC patch. So then if you decide to disable the patch your FIFA 2002 will return to your previous configuration
  • 64 kits in a NEW kit format (this one will let you enjoy from 3 sleeves for your kits plus a customizable captain band, for instance the captain band from France will even show the French soccer federation logo)
  • Goalkeepers kits better than ever. Each team with it´s own goalkeeper kit (3GK kits)
  • Updated rosters
  • Edited menus and for the first time ever edited fonts in your Fifa 2002
  • New in game Music FEATURING PINK FLOYDs: LEARNING TO FLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ( this is my favourite group)
  • FifaMania.it stadiums done specifically for SoccerAccess (you'll notice that these stadiums include a maximum number of 12 TPAGES, and therefore are compatible with the 3GK kits) with textures made by Ariel Santarelli

Start of Partnership Week

Recently we have struck up some great partnership arrangements with other Fifa sites. Unfortunately my time has been limited so I have so far been unable to update the site with their details. I will therefore post one new partner per day for the next week to catch up on my backlog.

Our first new partner today is Polish website FIFA-PL. Their website gets about 600 visitors a day and every day they update the site. They make a lot of new FifaFX add-ons including:

  • balls
  • kits
  • keeper gloves

Champions League post-match clashes

An extraordinary post-match pitchside brawl involving players, officials and fans marred Roma's 1-1 draw with Galatasaray on Wednesday, a result which kept alive both sides' hopes of qualifying for the Champions League quarter-finals.

ROMA VS. GALA

But before all the mess, a game wes held, Umit Karan gave the Turkish side the lead just before half-time and Cafu equalised seven minutes after the re-start.

At the end of the game, the red mist desecended, and Roma's Brazil midfielder Lima got caught up in a scuffle with Galatasaray players and chaotic scenes ensued.

Roma’s coach Fabio Capello and forward Vincenzo Montella pulled Lima away but the brawl continued.

The Roma team escaped to the dressing rooms but the Galatasaray players were forced to wait on the pitch for 10 minutes until order was restored before avoiding a hail of missles as they made their retreat.

The result itself leaves group B wide open with all four sides still able to qualify for the last eight going into the final round of matches - provided that UEFA decide not to impose any sanctions.

A spokesman for the governing body said: "On the basis of various reports from the referee, delegates as well as the venue director, Uefa has opened a disciplinary investigation. It is likely that it will be looked at next week at the Uefa control and disciplinary body meeting, which is scheduled for 22 March in Switzerland."

Today we welcome Tristan Abbott's Gameplay and Roster updates

Tristan has been very kind to provide us his latest Gameplay and Roster update (in conjunction with Treebeards Rosters). The patch updates include:

  • CPU does not cheat with the offside trap anymore and will not make impossible runs
  • Stamina drops quicker reflecting real life stamina
  • CPU is a lot more aggressive in tackles and general play resulting in more realistic allocation of free kicks. This is true of amateur, Professional and World Class
  • Penalties are much harder to score and easier to save
  • Ball travels at a more realistic speed and is actually affected by gravity now
  • The CPU is less successful at long shots than before which you were helpless to prevent
  • On Professional and World Class the CPU plays more realistic possession (i.e. not composed of one-time passes constantly) and passing
  • The new passing model is in effect
  • The CPU will try dekes
  • The game is naturally slower now and you can track the action. You can always speed the game up again in options if it is now too slow for you
  • Free kicks easier to get on target - no guarantee of scoring though
  • The lob height is reduced slightly to stop the CPU always scoring from lobs
  • The fixing of shooting direction has been turned off now so that you can press shoot and still determine which direction you want the ball to go. You still have to aim but the feature is more realistic

Self destruction_update!

For everybody who has been wondering what ever happened to Melvir's highly anticipated destrucution_update 3.0 it goes something like this:

  • 27th Feb - Melvir provided me massive news posting informing everybody of features that would be available in 4 days
  • 1st March - e-mail received from Melvir informing me that he had run into an unimaginable problem and that he had reached the limit of transfers and still had a long list to go so destruction_update 3.0 may be delayed until a week after Fed2002 is out. As if the whole world was not already aware of the issue with limited transfers in 2002!
  • 3rd March - patch due to be released but obviously no sign, just promise that it would be released after FEd2002 arrives
  • 3rd - 12th March - lots of adverse comments posted in the Patches Database - some responded to by Melvir :(
  • 12th March - I receive e-mail from Melvir informing me: "From this f***ing moment on, i want destruction_updates 2.0 and 3.0 and any further updates COMPLETELY REMOVED FROM FIFA-MRA.COM . DO i make myself f***ing clear. I'm sick of you and i'm sick of your site f***ing childish visitors!" Can you believe it after all the support and encouragement I provided this lad?

So there you go, that is what you get for supporting someone who had an idea but could not deliver and in the meantime fell out with the world. My apologies for all those, like myself, who were looking forward to the release of this patch but it has now been deleted from history. Thanks for all your support and sorry for building up your hopes. Sometimes you win and sometimes you lose. Today Melvir lost!

I would like to finish on a high note and say that we will have Tristan Abbott's new roster and gameplay patch available here within the next couple of days. This patch has received a lot of positive press during Melvir's demise so it should be good.

UEFA gives Terror the Victory

UEFA have decided to move the UEFA Cup quarter final game between Hapoel Tel-Aviv and AC Milan to a neutralist fair ground instead of playing it in Israel.

UEFA Taking The Wrong Side

The decision came after the Palestinan’s suicide bomber terror attack in Tel-Aviv last week. UEFA announced that they are concern to the safety of AC Milan’s players so they had to move the first leg from Israel to a neutralist fair ground.(The decided place is Cyprus)

Israel tried to change that decision, even Israel’s prime minister own guarentee was offered, but didn’t quite succeed, UEFA’s mind was done. The strange part of it is that another Italian club played in Tel-Aviv just a week ago, it was Parma. And until now many European giants played in Tel-Aviv this UEFA Cup season and even were knock-out of the competition. Including : Turkish Gaziantepspor, English CHELSEA, Russian LOKOMOTIV MOSCOW and the latest team was AC PARMA.

So the question is: If all those European giants didn’t had no problem to play in Israel, and AC MILAN personally didn’t stood out against it, Why did UEFA got to that decision?

On a personal note: as a sport rival, I hate Hapoel Tel-Aviv, my favorite team is Maccabi Tel-Aviv, so no one can “blame” me in the love of Hapoel. But what UEFA just did is taking a side in this whole conflict, and that side was the side of Terror.

The Israeli people are suffering from a crazy wave of Palestinian terror recently, but still are trying to maintain a normal life through it including the sport life, and here comes UEFA and take a decision that effect everybody’s life here.

After the Terror attack on September 11th, George W. Bush said: “We Won’t Let Terror Win!”, well, George my friend, according to UEFA it already won…

Video games are 40 years old!

Before we even had Pong and Space Invaders...

It is 40 years since the birth of what is widely credited as the first video game, since students at MIT created an Asteroids-like program called Spacewar. Of course games have come a long way since then, with the birth of consoles from Nintendo, Sega, Sony and now even Microsoft, not to mention all the titles for programmable platforms such as the PC.

The MIT team were interested in using a powerful DEC computer for something, well, different and programmed their original space fighting game using punch cards.

Go on, take a look at what Spacewar looked like, click here.

Out on 3rd March 2002!

destruction_update 3.0 (The ultimate patch to send shivers down EA's spine, now, that's a PROMISE) created by Melvir Singh from Singapore.

Look what is coming soon...

It is out on 3rd March and will include:

  • English Premier League (EPL) - Superbly accurate and up to date. Team managements, captains, kick takers, attacking strategies ALL upto date in the EPL!
  • Perfected Italian, Swedish, Scottish, German & Israeli leagues N ALL the others based on transfers (They are fully updated using a global soccer transfer site)
  • Corrected transfers which were missed out by EA Sports as well as in the second version. - Added LOADS (around 75-80 more excluding those added in first 2 versions) of new players to the game, BOTH young and old!
  • Updated Till 3rd of March 2002 - ALL world-wide transfers. (Not a single transfer for EVERY CLUB IN FIFA2002 left out, a feature simply loved by fans!)
  • Released players from their clubs & includes those who were transferred to clubs NOT available in Fifa2002
  • Players statistics accurately changed - Improved teams according to real-life form : such as Roma, Chievo, Valencia and many others improved and some made easier to beat )=
  • EPL clubs now play according to their current form and overall ability - Teams such as Arsenal, Newcastle and inform Man Utd (Top-three will be updated in March) are much harder to play against now
  • Due to the 28 teams restrictions, only the team managements of the EPL could be altered and made playing MUCH MUCH MORE realistic N best of all COMPLETELY UPTO DATE!
  • Top charts at worldpatches.com (2.0 is currently the top file in worldpatches.com) for destruction_update 1.0 and 2.0 and expect destruction_update 3.0 to top charts this time at www.fifa-mra.com !

Gameplay - Once again EDITED exclusively by Melvir for all those gamers who want a MUCH more realistic feel for your Fifa. The gameplay patch (in destruction_update 2.0) was improved drastically.

  • CPU doesn't take that many long shots, some will be saved some over the bar and seldom some hit the back of the net!
  • CPU builds their play slowly and VERY REALISTICALLY but surely they move the ball around and try getting some players in for 1 on 1s or maybe even headers and volleys from crosses!
  • CPU marks very tightly, its harder to play in through passes or even normal simple short passes!
  • CPU doesn't stay offside anymore, they themselves try THEIR BEST TO STAY ONSIDE!
  • THE BEST PART - SCORING HAS A COMPLETELY DIFF FEELING NOW, SOFT AND HARD SHOTS MATTER. Ground shots and "Hasselbaink type shots" YOU CAN FEEL AND WATCH THE DIFFERENCE! Put too much power, and the ball may go over or hit the bar or saved by CPU keeper!
  • Attributes NOW MATTERS MORE! Also goes for CPU!
  • NOW THE BALL rolls and feels very realistic. Ball velocity in the air (Ball Gravity) changed to real-life. Use long-balls to open up defences!
  • The second Major Improvement to shooting - Saves from CPU AND your own keeper is VERY REALISTIC now! Its not close to real-life, IT IS REAL-LIFE AS IF you're on the pitch itself!
  • Feels so much more realistic its as if you're playing on the field being one of those players yourself!
  • Fatigue is more visible now, no more SOLO-LIKE goals as stamina runs out exactly like in real -life! Seldom you find a Giggs or Carlos in Fifa2002 now
  • Injuries now come about more realistically, a hard clip of the knee or ankle might result in a 1 or 2 match injury! However, players are stronger AND MORE AGGRESSIVE!
  • CPU fouls AND is "MUCH MORE AGGRESSIVE", brings you down and gives more free-kicks away! CPU are also humans. They can make mistakes
  • Set-pieces INCLUDING throw-ins has been changed and it now gives a better feel to throw a long Gary Neville like into the box causing trouble for your opponents!
  • Easier to take free-kicks, force fabulous saves or hit the back of the net with a BRILLIANT Beckham like curler!
  • Penalties are harder to score and save now. No more fake-penalties!
  • Improved AI and sliding tackles are harder to time without committing a foul!

Expect destruction_update 3.0 to be the BEST EVER PATCH YOU'VE EVER AND EVER WILL DOWNLOAD IN YOUR ENTIRE LIFE IN THE GAMING INDUSTRY! Out on 3rd March 2002!

Look what is coming soon...

There's some BIG promises from Melvir there. Lets wait to the 3rd of March to hope they all materialise. It certainly sounds like a fantastic patch and one we will be very proud to host.
