FIFA 08 News - Wiill be available on the Wii

Wiill be available on the WiiThe latest issue of the Nintendo Power magazine has confirmed that Electronic Art's soccer game FIFA 08 will release on Wii this fall with Mii support.

In addition to featuring Wii-specific gesture controls, FIFA 08 will also include a set of Mii-based mini-games. Nintendo Power described one mini-game as a form of soccer hot potato, in which players must keep the ball in the air by flicking the Wii Remote in a certain direction when the ball lands in a target circle. The magazine also mentioned a Foosball mini-game, as well as a shoot-out game in which multiple players kick a ball at a single goalie; the lowest scorer assumes goalie duty in the next round.

Other editions of FIFA 08 are expected to feature online play, but it is unknown if Electronic Arts will utilize the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection for the Wii version.

Excited by this FIFA 08 Wii news? Then get on over to our Sweetpatch Shop now where you can already pre-order your copy so it arrives with you on its day of release.

UEFA Champions League Final - AC Milan 2 v 1 Liverpool

UEFA Champions League Final - AC Milan 2 v 1 LiverpoolFollowing last night's Final, we check out a brief summary of all the action below.

A goal in each half from Filippo Inzaghi ensured AC Milan avenged their defeat by Liverpool FC in Istanbul two years ago to claim the European Champion Clubs' Cup for a seventh time. Inzaghi had been forced to sit out the 2005 final which Liverpool won on penalties after trailing 3-0 at half-time, but he made up for that here with a pair of goals that fully justified coach Carlo Ancelotti's decision to select the veteran ahead of Alberto Gilardino. The gods in Athens were smiling kindly on the 33-year-old when he deflected in Andrea Pirlo's free-kick on the stroke of half-time but there was no doubting his ability when he rounded Pepe Reina to make sure of victory with eight minutes to play. Kuyt sparked hope for Liverpool when he nodded in Daniel Agger's flick-on from a corner in the final minute of normal time but this was to be Milan's night.

So that's it for another season. Check out all our extended UEFA Champions League coverage from this season (including latest results, top goalscorers and previous weeks match reports) by clicking here.

FA Cup News - Chelsea 1 v 0 Manchester United (aet)

FA Cup News - Chelsea 1 v 0 Manchester United (aet) Didier Drogba scored the goal which won the FA Cup for Chelsea five minutes from the end of extra-time.

Chelsea have now won the FA Cup four times. Two evenly matched teams ran themselves into the ground covering and defending, and so it was almost two hours of cautious deadlock.

With 5 minutes of extra time to go, when everyone was fearing the dreaded penalty shootout, it happened. Drogba played a one-two with Lampard from Mikel's pass and got behind Ferdinand to chip past advancing van der Sar and score his 33rd goal of the season.

After three minutes of stoppage time the whistle went on Chelsea's longest season. We are the domestic Cup kings, hopefully we can regain the league title next season.

UEFA Cup Final - Espanyol 2 v 2 Sevilla (aet - Sevilla won 3v1 on penalties)

UEFA Cup Final - Espanyol 2 v 2 Sevilla (aet - Sevilla won 3v1 on penalties) Following last night's UEFA Cup final in Glasgow, we check out a brief summary of all the action below:

Espanyol 2 v 2 Sevilla (aet - Sevilla won 3v1 on penalties)
Andrés Palop saved three shoot-out penalties as Sevilla FC became the second side to retain the UEFA Cup despite twice losing the lead as they finally defeated ten-man RCD Espanyol 3-1 on spot-kicks after a gripping contest in Glasgow. The holders, bidding to emulate Real Madrid CF who lifted this trophy in 1985 and 1986, took an 18th-minute lead through Adriano Correia only for Albert Riera to level ten minutes later. Espanyol, who also lost the 1988 final on penalties, were hit by the second-half dismissal of Moisés Hurtado but still managed to take the game into extra time. Frédéric Kanouté – who also scored in last year's final – restored Sevilla's advantage but again Espanyol fought back through Jônatas's deflected drive and it took the drama of a shoot-out, where Palop saved from Luis García, Jônatas and Marc Torrejón to finally end their hopes.

CEP 4.0 Assets and zdatas downloadable!

CEP Career Expansion PatchI'm doing the last debugging processes on the CEP 4.0 db, and this will take at least another couple of days, but in the meanwhile I've uploaded in the Downloads section the first parts of the CEP 4.0 that are the assets (gui elements), and the zdatas: three easy installers that you can start downloading waiting for the final and most important one that will include the system and the db files. NOTE: you will not be able to play with CEP 4.0 without the fourth and last installer, that should be released during this week (most probably on 17/5).

After the full release of CEP 4.0 we'll upload the new CEP Kits Addon as some files changed during the CEP 4.0 realization and we want to be sure that the kits addon will be 100% compatible with the last version of the CEP. Anyway if you previously installed kits addon you will not have problem installing over it the CEP 4.0.

So go download in the appropriate section, waiting for the final part of the installer; you can check in the Status and Release pages which sort of stuff you will find inside this new effort from the CEP team.

English Premier League Review

English Premier League ReviewWe bring you all the latest news and heartbreak from the last day of the English Premiership season.

Blackburn Rovers 3 v 3 Reading
Blackburn Rovers secured a place in the Intertoto Cup next season while Reading, who finished above them in the table, saw their dreams of Europe dashed. Blackburn took the lead 3 times with goals from Benny McCarthy, David Bentley and Matt Derbyshire but Reading refused to lie down and equalised on each occassion through Seol Ki-Hyeon, Kevin Doyle and Brynjar Gunnarsson.

Bolton Wanderers 2 v 2 Aston Villa
Sam Allardyce endured a nervous return to the Reebok Stadium but was ultimately left celebrating as Bolton Wanderers secured European qualification for only the second time in their 133-year history.
Allardyce quit as Trotters boss on April 29 after seven-and-a-half hugely successful years in charge. But the 52-year-old found time to accept an invitation from Phil Gartside to attend the game and take up his old seat in the directors’ box next to the Bolton chairman. A tense encounter saw Aston Villa snatch a deserved point in the 81st minute when substitute Luke Moore fired home to tie the scores at 2-2. But Reading’s failure to win at Blackburn Rovers ensured Bolton finished the season a point clear of the Royals in seventh spot to clinch a coveted UEFA Cup berth.

Chelsea 1 v 1 Everton
Didier Drogba's 32nd goal of the season was enough for Chelsea to equal Liverpool's 63-match unbeaten home record against Everton at Stamford Bridge. Drogba’s goal cancelled out James Vaughan’s shock opener in the 49th minute but the Ivorian’s leveller was shrouded in controversy.

Liverpool 2 v 2 Charlton Athletic
Robbie Fowler did not quite get the farewell Anfield game he wanted but relegated Charlton Athletic certainly headed into the Championship with some pride. They led twice at Anfield through Matt Holland and Darren Bent, and only a goal from Xabi Alonso and a late penalty from Harry Kewell denied them an unexpected victory.

Manchester United 0 v 1 West Ham United
Carlos Tevez again proved West Ham United's hero on a day of rollercoaster emotions to preserve his side's top-flight status. The Argentina forward scored the only goal at Old Trafford as the Hammers climbed to 15th place at the end of a day which coiuld have seen them join Charlton Athletic and Watford in the Coca-Cola Championship.

Middlesbrough 3 v 1 Fulham
Mark Viduka capped what could prove to be his Middlesbrough swansong with a clinically-taken double as the Teessiders eased past Fulham. The 31-year-old Australia striker, whose contract expires at the end of next month, fired his side ahead on 34 minutes and claimed his 19th goal of the season within a minute of the restart. Had it not been for a fine one-on-one save from Antti Niemi, who was outstanding in the Fulham goal, eight minutes from time, Viduka would have collected a hat-trick and become the first Boro striker to score 20 goals in a season since Fabrizio Ravanelli a decade ago. The Teessiders wobbled briefly when Simon Davies cashed in on an error by David Wheater to level on 42 minutes, but the defender made amends in first-half stoppage time with a powerful header to restore his side’s lead.

Portsmouth 0 v 0 Arsenal
Portsmouth's bid to qualify for the UEFA Cup fell just short as Arsenal, having missed a penalty, hung on for a goalless draw at Fratton Park.

Sheffield United 1 v 2 Wigan Athletic
David Unsworth's penalty in first-half injury time secured Wigan Athletic's dramatic escape from relegation but cruelly sent former club Sheffield United back down to the Championship. The veteran defender, a free transfer signing from Bramall Lane in January, was only on the pitch because of an injury to Ryan Taylor but when Phil Jagielka handballed the 33-year-old coolly drilled home to give his side a crucial 2-1 lead. Paul Jewell’s side had taken a 14th-minute lead through Paul Scharner’s left-foot strike but Jon Stead’s header eight minutes before the interval put United in pole position to survive. However, in a relegation race full of drama there were a few more twists left and it was the Blades who suffered the deepest cut.

Tottenham Hotspur 2 v 1 Manchester City
Tottenham Hotspur booked their place in the UEFA Cup after Robbie Keane and Dimitar Berbatov fired them to victory over Manchester City at White Hart Lane. The Spurs pair struck in the first half before Emile Mpenza pulled one back before the break. Paul Robinson kept Spurs ahead with two stunning saves, while Jermain Defoe missed a late penalty.

Watford 1 v 1 Newcastle United
Relegated Watford earned a point thanks to Marlon King's 52nd-minute penalty after Kieron Dyer had given Newcastle a first-half lead, but it was Owen's departure in the 67th minute which was the talking point of the game.

English Premier League Review

English Premier League ReviewWe bring you all the latest news from the last night's game in the English Premiership.

Tottenham Hotspur 1 v 1 Blackburn Rovers
Blackburn Rovers' hopes of a direct route into the UEFA Cup were ended by Jermain Defoeýs leveller for Tottenham Hotspur at soggy White Hart Lane. Mark Hughes’ men needed a win to stay in the hunt for a top-seven finish in the Barclays Premiership but their European hopes now rest with a possible Intertoto Cup campaign. They were on course for victory when Benni McCarthy opened the scoring to edge him ahead in the battle of the Barclays Premiership newcomers with Dimitar Berbatov. But Berbatov then played his part in Defoe’s equaliser, meaning Spurs now need a point against Manchester City on Sunday.

CEP 4.0 completed

CEP Career Expansion PatchThe realization and the testing of the CEP 4.0 is completed and during the remaining days of this week I should be able to pack everything and upload as usual on Filefront. For this version you will find a more comfortable division of the files: they will be auto-installing exe divided by the "type" of files they containg: you will have an exe for assets stuff (the gui directory), an exe for the zdata, for the database stuff etc. so if you will experience some problems downloading a single file you will not have troubles downloading and installing the others.

Completing the CEP 4.0 we realized we were not able to include all the material elaborated, so we had to do a selection, even if a VERY wide one, of what to include: you will find the final decision about the new leagues, teams and tournaments both in the Status and in the Release4.0 release and 5.0 release in autumn has been motivated mainly by two reasons: 1) me and Esterry had much more things to do in the real life (personally, VERY important familiar things), and this did not allowed us to dedicate all the time we spent in the past on this hobby; 2) we had to face the fifa.fat limitation problem one more time, and the solution we thought about needs more work and the collaboration with other programmers to be implemented: this is why we delayed so much the release, and this is why we cannot include all what we wanted.

For the future of CEP, during these months, we gathered a very wide group of updaters: contributors who will help us updating the rosters and the information on players for each specific league, so we hope that the work for the future will be more fast and accurate as we are very near to complete the "creation" stage of the CEP project and for the future we will "just" have to update the teams that are already in the patch.

CEP remains anyway a FREE gadget for the Fifa users and we'll keep providing more material to make your fifa experience more and more complete, so as we'll keep considering it an hobby. Within some days I'll release an huge update for the Miniheads Addon covering more main leagues, while Esterry will surely go further with his Chants project. The release of the CEP 4.0 is scheduled withing the next 7 days and will be announced on these pages with the exact date and time: most probably you will have the possibility to join a chat during the hours before the official release to download the very first version of the patch and to shot your personal immediate feedbacks. I will up a temporary new forum too to report the debugging segnalations of the 4.0 release as we will not start a debugging phase.

English Premier League Review

English Premier League ReviewWe bring you all the latest news from the last night's game in the English Premiership.

Chelsea 0 v 0 Manchester United
New Barclays Premiership champions Manchester United and deposed title holders Chelsea played out a 0-0 draw at Stamford Bridge. Both sides rested a host of first-team regulars and as a result chances were scarce. Chelsea’s Ben Sahar had the best chance of the game but his second-half effort was cleared off the line by Kieran Lee.

English Premier League Review

English Premier League ReviewWe bring you all the latest news from the recent games in the English Premiership.

Sunday 6th May

Arsenal 1 v 1 Chelsea
Ten-man Chelsea fought to the end but their flickering title challenge was finally snuffed out at the Emirates Stadium to spark a Barclays Premiership party at Manchester United. Despite the first-half dismissal of Khalid Boulahrouz, Jose Mourinho’s side not only managed to drag themselves level from Gilberto’s penalty opener but also have what would have been a late Joe Cole winner disallowed.

Monday 7th May

Charlton 0 v 2 Tottenham Hotspur
Charlton Athletic's relegation from the Barclays Premiership was confirmed as Tottenham Hotspur defeated them at The Valley. Ironically, it was former Charlton striker Jermain Defoe, jeered as he came off the bench, who sealed the win with an injury-time strike after Dimitar Berbatov had scored an early opener.

English Premier League Review

English Premier League ReviewWe bring you all the latest news from yesterday's games in the English Premiership.

Aston Villa 3 v 0 Sheffield United
Sheffield United's battle for Barclays Premiership survival will go down to the wire after they were comprehensively dismantled by an in-form Aston Villa. Gabriel Agbonlahor, Ashley Young and Patrik Berger rattled home the goals that ensured manager Martin O’Neill’s side won their final Villa Park game of the season with ease.

Everton 3 v 0 Portsmouth
Everton demolished Portsmouth to take a giant step towards a place in next season's UEFA Cup. A second-half penalty from Mikel Arteta and Joseph Yobo’s header three minutes later broke Pompey’s resistance, and substitute Gary Naysmith rubbed salt in the wound with an injury-time diving header.

Fulham 1 v 0 Liverpool
Fulham substitute Clint Dempsey finished off a fine move in the second half to condemn Liverpool to defeat and put Lawrie Sanchez's side on the brink of Barclays Premiership survival. Dempsey combined with Liam Rosenior before sending the ball past Jose Reina in the 69th minute to snatch the victory that should be enough to keep Fulham in the top flight for a seventh successive season.

Manchester City 0 v 1 Manchester United
Cristiano Ronaldo demonstrated his resilience to inspire Manchester United to a derby victory which leaves them on the brink of clinching the Barclays Premiership title. Ronaldo struck from the spot - his 50th goal for United - after his dancing feet had won the opportunity, bamboozling Ball into bringing him down in the box.

Newcastle United 0 v 2 Blackburn Rovers
Blackburn Rovers kept their UEFA Cup dreams alive as they made light of Michael Owen's presence to condemn Newcastle United to another home defeat. Benni McCarthy’s 22nd goal of the season and Jason Roberts’ 73rd-minute strike were more than enough to claim the points as the Magpies imploded in their final home game of the campaign.

Reading 0 v 2 Watford
Reading's hopes of qualifying for next season's UEFA Cup suffered a blow on Saturday when they were beaten at home by relegated Watford. Despite dominating for much of the match, Steve Coppell's team could not find a way past Watford's outstanding goalkeeper Ben Foster, and they were sunk by second-half goals from Dan Shittu and Marlon King. This was only Watford's second away win of the campaign in the Barclays Premiership, and, although they rode their luck, it will give manager Adrian Boothroyd optimism for next season's promotion push.

West Ham United 3 v 1 Bolton Wanderers
Carlos Tevez dragged West Ham United out of the Barclays Premiership relegation zone with two goals and an assist against Bolton Wanderers. The Hammers are doing everything they can to preserve their top-flight status after six wins in the last eight matches. After Tevez curled in a sublime free-kick for an early opener he then added a simple second before laying on a third for Mark Noble, the Hammers went to sleep in the second period and did not awaken until the last few minutes when substitute Marlon Harewood twice failed by inches to add to their lead. By then, Gary Speed had pulled one back for Bolton on 67 minutes after keeper Robert Green superbly saved from Nicolas Anelka.

Wigan Athletic 0 v 1 Middlesbrough
Mark Viduka's fortunate first-half strike left Wigan Athletic clinging onto their Barclays Premiership status by their fingertips at a stunned JJB Stadium.

UEFA Champions League Review - Semi Final 2nd Leg

UEFA Champions League Review - Semi Final 2nd LegFollowing last night's match in the Semi Final, we check out a brief summary of all the action below.

AC Milan 3 v 0 Manchester United (AC Milan won 5 v 3 on aggregate)
AC Milan are through to their tenth European Champion Clubs' Cup final after overturning a first-leg deficit against Manchester United with a memorable 3-0 win in the UEFA Champions League semi-final at the San Siro. First-half goals from Kaká and Clarence Seedorf, and Alberto Gilardino's 78th-minute strike were enough to end United's dreams of a second treble in eight years. Instead the Serie A giants completed their third semi-final success in the competition against their English visitors and set up a repeat of the 2005 UEFA Champions League decider against Liverpool FC in Athens on 23 May.

Happy 6th Birthday to FIFA 4 Fans

Happy 6th Birthday to FIFA 4 FansWe would like to wish the team over at FIFA 4 Fans a very happy 6th birthday.

On May 1st 2001 FIFA 4 Fans went online, but originally with a completely different aim than it has today. Initially FIFA 4 Fans was merely a small webpage on which DaKaTotal wanted to offer his own downloads. But very fast FIFA 4 Fans became more and more a growing editing team which released recurrently new downloads for the FIFA 200x series.

After an online time of 2,191 days or 52,584 hours they can say proudly that FIFA 4 Fans has developed into one of the biggest FIFA pages worldwide and the biggest German FIFA editing page. More than 5.6 million visitors found their way to 'FIFA 4 Fans' - some years ago this had been an unimaginable number.

Well done guys and have a very happy birthday and we recommend you visit them regularly as they always have great files available to enhance your FIFA gameplaying experience.

UEFA Champions League Review - Semi Final 2nd Leg

UEFA Champions League Review - Semi Final 2nd LegFollowing last night's match in the Semi Final, we check out a brief summary of all the action below.

Liverpool 1 v 0 Chelsea (AET - Liverpool won 4v1 on penalties)
Pepe Reina saved two spot-kicks as Liverpool FC knocked English rivals Chelsea FC out of the UEFA Champions League 4-1 on penalties to reach a second final in three seasons on a dramatic night at Anfield. Daniel Agger's first-half shot had taken the semi-final into extra time but with no further goals and the aggregate scores locked at 1-1, a shoot-out ensued in which Dirk Kuyt struck the decisive conversion. After Boudewijn Zenden had tucked away Liverpool's first attempt, Reina guessed right to save Arjen Robben's effort. The next penalties were scored by Xabi Alonso, Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard before Geremi was outsmarted by Reina and Kuyt stroked in the clincher.

Sweetpatch TV - Match of the Next Day (Liverpool v Chelsea UEFA CL SF)

Match of the Next Day - Can you predict the future?Today we bring you our latest edition of our brand new concept of "Match of the Next Day".

"Match of the Next Day" allows you all to simulate important games that are taking place on the next day using our favourite soccer games (i.e. FIFA 07, UEFA Champions League, PES, etc...), then post the video at YouTube in our brand new "Sweetpatch TV - Match of the Next Day" group and then everyone can post their comments/predictions of the real score and when the real match takes place we can all see how accurate (or not) the simulations were.

Today we take a look at predicting today's UEFA Champions League Semi Final 2nd Leg match between Liverpool v Chelsea, using UEFA Champions League™ 2006-2007, played on the PC in World Class mode, with 4 minute halves and with the added gameplay enhancement from NK Football's World Evolution 2.

Check out the programme below and see if we get anywhere near the actual result. We hope you will also enjoy our brand new Sweetpatch TV experience at the same time and join in the fun and start posting your own videos too. When you have watched it click here to post your predictions.

Would you like to join in the fun and simulate your favourite games? Go on and join in the fun by simming your favourite match(s), record it and upload it at our brand new Sweetpatch TV - Match of the Next Day Youtube group. Everyone can then post their comments and predictions, as so many of you have already.

English Premier League Review

English Premier League ReviewWe bring you all the latest news from last night's game in the English Premiership.

Reading 1 v 0 Newcastle United
Michael Owen finally made his long-awaited comeback but the England striker's presence could not prevent Newcastle United slipping to a 1-0 defeat at the Madejski Stadium. All eyes were on Owen, who has been out for 10 months since rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament in last summer’s World Cup, but it was Reading marksman Dave Kitson who stole the show. Kitson buried Seol Ki-Hyeon’s cross in the 50th minute for his second Barclays Premiership goal in an injury-hit season to clinch the Royals’ third straight victory.
