Baroš brings down Danes

Euro 2004 - Czech Republic 3 v 0 DenmarkTwo second-half goals from Milan Baroš and a header from Jan Koller proved too much for Denmark and powered the Czech Republic into the semi-finals of UEFA EURO 2004™, where they will meet Greece on Thursday.

A scoreless and tense first half did not set the tone for the deluge of goals that followed, but Koller set the Czechs on their way four minutes into the second period when he rose unchallenged to head Karel Poborský's corner past Thomas Sørensen in the Danish goal.

Final result: Czech Republic 3 v 0 Denmark

Vive o 2004! - Danes alive to Czech threat

Denmark will decide on the fitness of striker Ebbe Sand at the last possible minute as Morten Olsen's side prepare to face the Czech Republic in the UEFA EURO 2004™ quarter-finals, with a place in the last four against Greece at stake.

The Czechs will be hoping to extend their winning sequence to nine matches in the competition stretching back to the qualifying round. In that sequence, the Czechs have scored two or more goals in every game, and have come from behind on five occasions. With no injury concerns, coach Karel Brückner will restore his star players to the starting lineup having rested them for the final group game against Germany as the Czechs had already secured first place.

Dutch delight in shoot-out

Euro 2004 - Sweden 0 v 0 Netherlands (Netherlands won 5 v 4 on penalties)After a dramatic penalty shoot-out, the Netherlands advanced to a UEFA EURO 2004™ semi-final against Portugal following 120 minutes of goalless stalemate in Faro-Loulé.

A desperately tight, fiercely contested encounter had seen both teams foiled by the woodwork before misses from Sweden's Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Olof Mellberg proved decisive in the shoot-out, with Arjen Robben nervelessly converting the winning spot-kick.

Final result: Sweden 0 v 0 Netherlands (Netherlands won 5 v 4 on penalties)

Vive o 2004! - Strikers to shine on Algarve

Sweden and the Netherlands could give us a scintillating quarter-final when they meet at the Estádio Algarve in Faro-Loulé today. Each team's defenders face an evening on red alert as some of the more potent striking talents at UEFA EURO 2004™ go head-to-head.

Both sides have already given notice of their abundant attacking promise in Portugal, and no one can call the result with confidence. In any event, it would be something of a surprise if we were to see a contest with a paucity of goals. Sweden come to the quarter-finals having been one of the most effective all-round teams in the group stages.

Slick Greece shock holders

Euro 2004 - France 0 v 1 GreeceGreece pulled off the biggest shock of UEFA EURO 2004™ here tonight when they beat France for the first time in their history to reach the semi-finals where they will meet the Czech Republic or Denmark.

A goal after 65 minutes by Angelos Charisteas sent the defending champions crashing out of the competition along with fellow former winners Italy, Germany and Spain. France, with Thierry Henry struggling to reproduce his best form and Patrick Vieira out injured, were heavily reliant on the skills of Zinedine Zidane, but for once the great man was unable to inspire his team-mates sufficiently.

Final result: France 0 v 1 Greece

Vive o 2004! - Greeks planting seeds of doubt

If the eight quarter-finalists had been subject to Wimbledon-style seedings, the meeting of France and Greece at the Estadio José Avalade on Friday evening would be first seeds versus eighth, the defending champions and favourites against the rank outsiders.

But Greece, enjoying the adventure of their footballing lives, have been here before: just under two weeks ago, in fact, when they faced the hosts, Portugal, in the opening game of the tournament and were given very little chance by most experts. On that occasion of course they not only won, but won well. So what price a first-ever win for Greece over France and the adventure continuing into next week?

Hosts hold their nerve

Euro 2004 - Portugal 2 v 2 England (Portugal won 6 v 5 on penalties)Portugal eventually overcame England on penalties to advance to the last four of UEFA EURO 2004™ after an enthralling quarter-final at the Estádio da Luz in Lisbon, with misses from David Beckham and Darius Vassell proving decisive in the shoot-out and Portuguese goalkeeper Ricardo nervelessly converting the winning spot-kick.

Michael Owen's improvised finish put England ahead after just three minutes. But, after almost relentless pressure, Portugal finally leveled in the 83rd minute when Hélder Postiga headed in Simão Sabrosa's cross. Then it was the turn of Portugal's third substitute Rui Costa, who beat David James with a sumptuous strike from 25 metres in the 110th minute. England were briefly down but not out and Frank Lampard sent the match to penalties when he got on the end of John Terry's knockdown after 115 minutes.

Final result: Portugal 2 v 2 England (Portugal won 6 v 5 on penalties)

Vive o 2004! - Hosts' biggest test yet

Today we enter the Quarter Final stage of the tournament. 8 teams are still here and 8 teams have now flown home.

Portugal face England in the first UEFA EURO 2004™ quarter-final at the Estádio da Luz with both teams burdened by huge expectation.

Portugal, fresh from victory over Spain, carry the fervent hopes of the host nation, while in England confidence levels have rocketed after the dazzling displays of tournament top scorer Wayne Rooney.

The match comes four years after Portugal's dramatic 3-2 win against England at UEFA EURO 2000™, and just two years after Portugal coach Luiz Felipe Scolari ended the English 2002 FIFA World Cup bid during his time in charge of Brazil. The meeting of Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo, the tournament's brightest young stars so far, adds further spice to the mix.

To celebrate we have the kits of the 2 teams for you to add to your game to enhance the excitement and realism of your copy of UEFA Euro 2004™.

Euro 2004 - Netherlands 3 v 0 LatviaThe Netherlands claimed their place in the quarter-finals, as a comfortable win against Latvia was combined with a German defeat by the Czech Republic.

Ruud van Nistelrooij scored twice and Roy Makaay added a third six minutes from time, by which time the Czechs were beating Germany. The Netherlands finish second in Group D, two points ahead of Germany, and meet Sweden on Saturday. Latvia's debut ends with a single point.

Baroš ends German hopes

Euro 2004 - Germany 1 v 2 Czech RepublicGermany crashed out of UEFA EURO 2004™ after losing to an under-strength Czech Republic side. The Czechs, who maintained their 100 per cent record - including in qualification - came from behind with goals from Marek Heinz and Milan Baroš.

Michael Ballack had opened the scoring on 21 minutes to steady the nerves of a German side needing victory to be sure of a place in the last eight, but Heinz equalised with a superb free-kick and when Baroš added a second after sustained second-half pressure from Germany, the hopes of Rudi Völler's side had ended.

Having already secured top spot in Group D, the Czech Republic rested several players with Sunday's quarter-final against Denmark in mind. In total there were nine changes from the team that beat the Netherlands, with Marek Heinz and Vratislav Lokvenc paired in attack, and midfield trio Stepán Vachoušek, Jaroslav Plašil and Roman Týce all handed the chance to shine.

Final result: Germany 1 v 2 Czech Republic

Share of spoils sufficient

Euro 2004 - Denmark 2 v 2 SwedenA last-minute goal from Mattias Jonson ensured that Sweden and Denmark both qualify from Group C. Jon Dahl Tomasson twice gave Denmark the lead in an enthralling game but Jonson's strike means that Sweden finish group winners while Italy are eliminated.

It was the result Italy had dreaded the most and ensured that Sweden finished top courtesy of goals scored between the three sides as they all finish level on five points. Denmark now face the Czech Republic on Sunday, Sweden the Group D runners-up the day before.

Euro 2004 - Italy 2 v 1 BulgariaItaly are out of UEFA EURO 2004™ despite a dramatic victory against Bulgaria as Denmark and Sweden drew 2-2 to condemn the unbeaten Azzurri to third place in Group C on head-to-head record with the three level on five points.

A Martin Petrov penalty had given Plamen Markov's side the lead on the stroke of half-time and although Simone Perrotta equalised three minutes after half-time, Sweden's late equaliser in Porto made Antonio Cassano's last-gasp winner academic.

England ignited by Rooney

Euro 2004 - Croatia 2 v 4 EnglandWayne Rooney scored twice as England came from behind to defeat Croatia at the Estádio da Luz in Lisbon and progress to the UEFA EURO 2004™ quarter-finals.

England's win secured second spot in Group B and a quarter-final meeting with hosts Portugal on Thursday at the same stadium. England had trailed to Niko Kovac's fifth-minute opener before two goals in the final five minutes of the first half set up victory. Rooney assisted Paul Scholes for the opener and the midfield player returned the favour on the stroke of half-time. The tournament top scorer sealed England's progress with his fourth goal of the competition after 68 minutes before Igor Tudor and Frank Lampard traded goals within minutes.

Rooney had earlier gone off to a rapturous reception and Europe's newest young star, with six goals in his last four matches, was again the hero as England advanced beyond the first round of the UEFA European Championship for the first time on foreign soil.

Final result: Croatia 2 v 4 England

Switzerland were in with a chance of a last-eight berth themselves after Johan Vonlanthen had cancelled out Zinedine Zidane's strike inside the first half hour, but two late Thierry Henry goals finally subdued the battling underdogs to knock them out of the competition.

Nuno Gomes lights up Lisbon

Euro 2004 - Spain 0 v 1 PortugalA 57th-minute strike from substitute Nuno Gomes eased the worries of a nation as Portugal, the UEFA EURO 2004™ hosts, advanced to the knockout stages of the competition at the expense of their Iberian rivals, Spain.

The significance of the occasion where Portugal needed a win and Spain only a draw denied the fans a truly wonderful derby, but Nuno Gomes' goal finally ended a 23-year wait for the Portuguese to put one over their old adversaries. Portugal advance to the last eight as group winners, while Greece finish second in Group A with Spain eliminated in third.

Nervous Greece advance

Euro 2004 - Russia 2 v 1 GreeceGreece nervously edged into the quarter-finals despite losing their last Group A game 2-1 to Russia in Faro-Loulé on Sunday. Zisis Vryzas’ goal two minutes before half-time ensured that Otto Rehhagel's side qualified along with Portugal, having scored more goals than Spain.

Having started the day top of the group, Greece's hopes of reaching the last eight were rocked in the first 17 minutes as Russia raced into a two-goal lead. Dmitri Kirichenko opened the scoring inside two minutes with the quickest goal ever scored in a UEFA European Championship finals match, then Dmitri Bulykin took advantage of some anxious Greek defending to head in a second. But Vryzas' well-taken strike just before the interval ultimately proved enough to see Greece through to the quarter-finals of a major tournament for the first time in their history.

Final result: Russia 2 v 1 Greece

PORTUGAL UMA FORÇA QUE NINGUČM PODE PARAR!

Portugal is on delirium, all the Portuguese country is celebrating this victory against Spain, after complete 90-minute fever of football, and Portugal wins.

This match was a delirious match, after everyone betting that in the first half of the match, the game would be already decided either to Spain or to Portugal but after the end of the first 45 minutes the game was tied and undecided. Both teams had goal chances and was a great a first half.

The second half starts and only on change on the teams, Pauleta for Nuno Gomes, suddenly it was 10 minutes of 2nd half, a striking attack and magical shoot from Nuno Gomes made it to the end of the nets, killing the Spanish hope.

Euro 2004 - Nuno Gomes celebrating the goal

But the match wasn’t over, as this just became the start of a great match, as the goal opportunities started to increase more and more for both sides.

The game was by a wire and as the final minutes started to come, the game was like a bomb about to explode.

Final minutes came and Spain made their tactical changes, they were giving everything for everything, as Spain couldn’t afford to lose the match.

Spain was losing for 1 goal and the game was hot, really hot, still with Portugal trying to defend their victory by 1 goal, Portugal was being able to give some big scares to the Spanish team, but Spain wouldn’t give up and they were having more goal chances than Portugal and I must admit as you know luck makes part of football games and Portugal was lucky not to suffer. Then the final whistle came and Portugal was victorious, everyone jumping on streets, party everywhere, Portugal was green and red everyone on the streets celebrating.

Euro 2004 - Spain 0 v 1 Portugal

Portugal won a great match and stayed first on their group. The Iberican battle ended, and all Portugal is on party, Portugal wins by 1-0 to Spain.

Brave Latvia deny Germany

Euro 2004 - Latvia 0 v 0 GermanyUnheralded Latvia produced a gritty performance of determination and endeavour to deny Germany and earn their first-ever major tournament point in an entertaining goalless draw in UEFA EURO 2004™ Group D.

The Baltic underdogs gallantly withstood constant second-half pressure from the Germans to earn a draw, and could have even grabbed a shock win had Maris Verpakovskis taken a gilt-edged first-half chance. Germany dominated proceedings after the interval, but were ultimately frustrated as they failed to convert the chances that came their way.

Final result: Latvia 0 v 0 Germany

Ibrahimovic pegs back Italy

Euro 2004 - Italy 1 v 1 SwedenA dramatic late equaliser from Zlatan Ibrahimovic put Sweden in a strong position to qualify from Group C as they drew 1-1 with Italy to remain top above Denmark on goal difference.

Antonio Cassano had opened the scoring in the first half of a game that Italy largely dominated, but Sweden staged a late rally in the closing stages and substitute Mattias Jonson forced Gianluigi Buffon into a fine reaction save after he had been picked out by Henrik Larsson's penetrating diagonal pass. The pressure eventually paid off when Ibrahimovic profited from a goalmouth scramble, acrobatically hooking a shot over the head of Vieri on the line and into the top corner with five minutes remaining.

Final result: Italy 1 v 1 Sweden

Danish delight in Braga

Euro 2004 - Bulgaria 0 v 2 DenmarkGoals at the end of each half from Jon Dahl Tomasson and Jesper Grønkjær earned Denmark three points in Braga and put the Scandinavian side in a strong position in UEFA EURO 2004™ Group C.

Tomasson opened the scoring a minute before half-time with a simple finish from close range and Grønkjær completed the success two minutes into added time, sidefooting into the corner to seal the three points. The final score might have been more emphatic, but Ebbe Sand's thunderous last-gasp strike rebounded off the crossbar. Bulgaria therefore bowed out of the tournament after following up Monday's 5-0 loss against Sweden with defeat by Morten Olsen's team.

Final result: Bulgaria 0 v 2 Denmark

Croatia rattle holders France

Euro 2004 - Croatia 2 v 2 FranceEuropean champions France shared four goals with Croatia in a pulsating UEFA EURO 2004™ Group B encounter in Leiria.

The French led at half-time through an own goal by Croatian defender Igor Tudor and were full value for their advantage. But two goals in four minutes straight after the interval - a Milan Rapaic penalty and a superb Dado Pršo volley - reflected a tremendous Croatian fightback before David Trezeguet's strike just after the hour gave France a point.

At 18 years, seven months and 24 days old, Rooney became the youngest scorer in a UEFA European Championship finals match, surpassing the record of Yugoslavia's Dragan Stojkovic, who was eight months older when he scored against France in 1984.

Portugal restore home pride

Euro 2004 - Russia 0 v 2 PortugalHosts Portugal restored their UEFA EURO 2004™ hopes as goals at either end of a thrilling encounter from Maniche and Rui Costa gave them a hard-fought win and ended Russia's dreams of reaching the knockout stages.

Maniche seized on his FC Porto team-mate Deco's pass after seven minutes to fire in the first goal before Rui Costa converted fellow substitute Cristiano Ronaldo’s cross one minute from time as Portugal bounced back from their opening match defeat by Greece with a much-improved display. Russia had to play for over 45 minutes with ten men after goalkeeper Sergei Ovchinnikov was sent off on the stroke of half-time for handling the ball outside the area.

Final result: Russia 0 v 2 Portugal

Charisteas stops Spain surge

Euro 2004 - Greece 1 v 1 SpainGroup A rivals Spain and Greece remain on course for the quarter-finals after they followed up their opening UEFA EURO 2004™ victories by drawing an intense encounter.

Spain were made to toil hard in the afternoon heat by a determined Greece team, but still took the lead with a clinically-taken Fernando Morientes strike just before the half-hour. Iñaki Sáez’s team went on to play some scintillating football but failed to kill Greece off and paid a price when Angelos Charisteas levelled matters midway through the second half.

Defiant Dutch make a point

Euro 2004 - Germany 1 v 1 NetherlandsAn 81st-minute equaliser by Ruud van Nistelrooij ensured honours ended even in this clash of Group D heavyweights after a freakish goal by BV Borussia Dortmund's Torsten Frings had given Germany a first-half lead.

For much of the match it looked as though the Netherlands, not for the first time, had flattered only to deceive their fervent fans, but Van Nistelrooij, who had had a quiet game, produced an acrobatic hooked finish at the near post from a fine Andy van der Meyde cross to bring them their reward.

Final result: Germany 1 v 1 Netherlands

Czechs cheered by late goals

Euro 2004 - Czech Republic 2 v 1 LatviaTwo goals in the last 17 minutes gave the much-fancied Czech Republic a narrow win against unheralded Latvia in a pulsating UEFA EURO 2004™ Group D encounter in Aveiro.

Maris Verpakovskis gave the Baltic nation a shock lead just before half-time, but Liverpool FC striker Milan Baroš came up with a 73rd-minute leveller and substitute Marek Heinz grabbed an opportunist winner that was reward for ceaseless second-half pressure from Karel Brückner's side against the spirited underdogs.

Larsson lights up Sweden

Euro 2004 - Sweden 5 v 0 BulgariaSweden recorded only their third victory in a UEFA European Championship finals as two fine goals from Henrik Larsson and further strikes from Fredrik Ljungberg, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Marcus Allbäck powered them past Bulgaria at Lisbon's Estádio José Alvalade.

It was a fairytale return to competitive international action for Larsson as he scored two goals in two minutes shortly before the hour to end the game as a contest in which Bulgaria battled bravely but in vain. Already ahead through Ljungberg's first-half opener, Larsson's spectacular diving header from Erik Edman's pinpoint left-wing cross doubled their lead after 57 minutes.

Seconds later, the Swedes ended the game as a contest when Anders Svensson's low cross from the right was missed by the diving Zlatko Zdravkov and Larsson knocked the ball into the roof of the net from close range. Ibrahimovic scored a fourth from the penalty spot 12 minutes from time after Ljungberg had been brought down, and substitute Allbäck raced on to Larsson's chip to add a fifth in added time.

Final result: Sweden 5 v 0 Bulgaria

Italy denied by Danes

Euro 2004 - Denmark 0 v 0 ItalyItaly and Denmark had to settle for a share of the spoils in their opening Group C encounter in Guimarães, with some inspired goalkeeping ensuring the game remained goalless.

Denmark's Thomas Sørensen produced a stunning double save to deny Alessandro Del Piero and Francesco Totti before half-time, while Gianluigi Buffon emulated his opposite number to brilliantly keep out efforts in quick succession from Jon Dahl Tomasson and Dennis Rommedahl in the second half of an enthralling encounter in the Estádio D. Zidane strikes stun England

Euro 2004 - France 2 v 1 EnglandTwo Zinedine Zidane goals in added time at the end of the match gave France an incredible win against England in UEFA EURO 2004™ Group B.

Trailing to Frank Lampard's 38th-minute header, it seemed that the holders would begin their campaign with a disappointing defeat. However, the Real Madrid CF playmaker curled in a free-kick a minute into added time to seemingly rescue a point.

Moments later Steven Gerrard's misplaced pass set Thierry Henry clear and the French striker was brought down by England goalkeeper David James. Zidane kept his nerve from the spot to cap an incredible turnaround.

Final result: France 2 v 1 England

Victory vindicates Sáez switch

Euro 2004 - Spain v RussiaSpain coach Iñaki Sáez paid tribute to Juan Carlos Valerón after the midfield player handed his side victory against Russia in their opening Group A game by scoring with his first touch after coming off the bench.

The game was scoreless when Sáez sent Valerón on to replace Fernando Morientes in the 59th minute in Faro-Loulé, but just over 30 seconds later the RC Deportivo La Coruña playmaker had broken the deadlock after latching onto Carlos Puyol's cross. A satisfied Sáez said: "The first game is always difficult and it's a big relief to start off with a victory."

Final result: Spain 1 v 0 Russia

Greece spoil hosts' party

Euro 2004 - Portugal v GreeceGoals from Georgios Karagounis and Angelos Basinas gave Greece a deserved victory and provided a massive setback to Portugal's hopes of winning UEFA EURO 2004™ on home soil, despite Cristiano Ronaldo's late consolation.

It was the first time the hosts had lost the opening match of a UEFA European Championship, but in truth it was a disappointing display from Portugal, who gave away possession far too easily. Greece, on the other hand, played with great freedom and assurance, none more so than Angelos Charisteas.

Final result: Portugal 1 v 2 Greece

SFTLA Division 1 Cup Final

Sweetpatch FTL Academy - PC LeagueValencia and Deportivo battled out this SFTLA Division 1 Cup Final Second Leg and what a cracker of a match it turned out to be. With Valencia edging out the Deportivo lads away from home 2-3 and now back in front of their home fans in the Estadio Mestalla things were looking very good for Valencia and their supporters.

The game kicked off and Deportivo where straight into the heart of the Valencia midfield and defence giving the Valencia players no time to think about the easy pass. It was immediately clear that the Deportivo lads were focussed for this match as players shut down each and every Valencia player as soon as they received the ball.

The frantic start to the game by the Deportivo players was beginning to take its toll as the Half Time interval approached as Valencia earned a corner kick. The ball was delivered perfectly into the crowded Deportivo box and with the Deportivo players tired Valencia's Baraja rose the highest and thundered his header into the back of the Deportivo net. The Half Time whistle blew to much to the relief of the worn out Deportivo players who had run their hearts out in the opening 45mins with nothing to show for it and Valencia were in complete control of this match leading 4-2 on Aggregate.

Both Teams returned to the pitch to begin the Second Half with the Deportivo players needing a miracle to get back into this match but an Animal is at its most dangerous when backed into a corner and wounded and the Deportivo players were just that as they refused to give up anything in this match without a fight.

The determination and courage of the Deportivo players was a joy to see as their "Never Say Die" attitude paid off when on just 6mins of the Second Half played an inspired Valeron does what he does best and picked the ball up in midfield and ran at the Valencia defence skipping past sliding tackles and dancing his way past tough challenges......the right foot was unleashed and the ball smashed passed a helpless Canizares who was probably still in shock of this guys footwork 1-1 on the night (4-3 on Agg) and the Deportivo players and fans could sense the tide was turning as the stadium was drowned out in Deportivo celebrations.

Valencia were on the ropes as wave after wave of attacks by Deportivo rained down on the Valencia goal and it surely was just a matter of time before something had to give, 72mins of the game played and the battered Valencia defence gave as Fran fired home from just outside the box 1-2 on the night  (4-4 on Agg) and scenes of shock and disbelief on the Valencia Player faces were beamed all across the world from the TV Cameras covering the action.

Valencia were still sitting in a winning situation as the Away Goal rule was firmly in their favour but from the disheartened faces of not only the Valencia Players but the fans as well and the combination of Deportivo's refusal to "Lay Down and Die" attitude you almost knew that more was to come from this remarkable Deportivo side.

As many armchair neutrals watching this match rushed to the Online Bookmakers of Bet365 and Sporting Odds to lay down their life Savings on the next goal being scored by Deportivo, up steps Valencia's Fabio Aurelio and wallops one into the top right hand corner of the Deportivo goal from all be it 30yrds ! 2-2 on the night (5-4 on Agg) and a subdued Valencia stadium erupts with such a force that the Pope in the Vatican probably thought Armageddon was finally upon us.

Simply unbelievable scenes were being witnessed here by not only the fans and the players but the millions of viewers all around the world that were tuned into this epic titanic battle of a game and it wasn't finished their by any means.

Valencia had re-discovered their enthusiasm and belief and it was now them that had the bull by the horns as they began peppering the Deportivo goal with effort after effort and the Deportivo Keeper Molina was adding Zero after Zero to his price tag as he pulled of an array of world class saves to keep his side in the game.

With just 8mins of this Gladiator Match to play and with Valencia with both feet on the gas a Deportivo counter-attack saw Diego Tristan break free from the Valencia defence and smash home his effort to take the score to 2-3 on the night (5-5 on Agg), both sets of Players stared blankly at each other as this match was turning into something that even Stephen Spielberg couldn't invent. The Away Goal rule was now tied and Extra Time looked a certainty as the clock slowly ticked down towards 90mins.

The referee's assistant was seen on the touch line holding up the board indicating 2mins of Injury Time to be played and it looked like both sets of players were resigned to the fact that another 30mins of football would be played, that is 'Most of the Players' as Valeron again found himself with the ball at his feet in midfield and thought another Valeron special would be most fitting to round this sensational game up and as he drove forward into the heart of the Valencia defence and you could hear and taste the fear that quickly formed on the thousands of Valencia fans who could only watch from the terraces as Valeron strode forward like a Lame Stallion...... this time however an unselfish Valeron laid the ball off to Tristian which had the Valencia defence all at sea , Tristian then delivered a pass through the confused Valencia back line and Victor with a first time shot 'Smashed' it past Canizares in the Valencia goal .... 2-4 on the night (5-6 on Agg) a huge silence fell upon not only the Players but the Fans as 'Disbelief and Shock Set In' but it was quickly followed by scenes of jubilation from the Deportivo Players and Fans as the reality of what just happened finally hit home as the Referee blew the whistle to end this game.

Deportivo had won the SFTLA Division 1 Trophy in what will go down as one of the most exciting matches anyone will ever witness in their lifetime and celebrations would no doubt continue into the early hours.

A truly remarkable game that both sets of Players and Fans will remember with joy and disappointment for many years to come. Final Score from the Estadio Mestalla Stadium :- Valencia 2-4 Deportivo (5-6 on Agg)

Division 3 Cup Final :- Boro v Dortmund

Sweetpatch FTL Academy - PC League

After a very entertaining Season in the SFTLA Division 3 where Middlesboro won the League all be it on Goal Difference from the battling Dortmund Team everyone knew that this League Cup Final was going to be something special between these two great clubs.

Boro were after that illusive double to end their first Season in the SFTLA on a high note and Dortmund were out to put the record straight and finish their Season with some silverware after just missing out on the League Title.

The first leg ended with the League Champions running out 0-2 Winners and more importantly having Two Away Goals going into the 2nd Leg and everything looked good for a Boro Double.

Dortmund knew that they needed an early goal to even stand a chance of getting back into this Cup Final and that's exactly what happened when on just 2mins of the game played Koller broke free and smashed his effort past the helpless Schwarzer who had no chance and with the score now 0-1 (2-1 Agg) Dortmund were right back in it.

This seemed to wake the Boro players up and although Dortmund continued to press hard at the Boro defence, a decisive counterattack came Boro's way and Maccarone found space to fire home and level the score at 1-1 (3-1 Agg) and the Boro fans erupted the Stadium in chants of "We Are The Champions".

The Referee ended the First Half and both Teams retired into the dressing rooms with the score tied at 1-1 (3-1 Agg). No doubt the Dortmund Manager was eager to speak to his Team as they were two behind with only 45mins left to play. Could the Dortmund Manager turn this game around ? We were soon to find out.

The Second Half kicked off and Dortmund were like a Tiger that had been let loose after years of captivity as they tore the Boro Defence and Midfield to pieces and with only 1 minute of the match played Flavio fired Dortmund into a 1-2 lead (3-2 Agg) and the Dortmund Fans began to realise that this Cup Final could be theirs for the taking and made themselves heard all around the stadium.

The Dortmund players were now oozing confidence and on 50mins, cometh the hour, cometh the man, up stepped Koller to fire home past Schwarzer and turn this Cup Final on its head with Dortmund now leading 1-3 (3-3 Agg), the Dortmund Fans went 'Crazy' and lifted the roof of the Stadium but the Dortmund players knew that there was still a long time left to play and kept focussed on the task at hand.

Both Teams were now going for the outright winner but defences and keepers on both sides were putting in outstanding performances as both held firm. It was nerve tingling stuff as the tension grew and grew , both sets of fans with their heads in their hands as the time ticked down.

The Referee blew his whistle to end the game that was immediately drowned out by ecstatic Dortmund Celebrations from the Terraces as the reality that Dortmund had won this Cup Final on the Away Goal Rule hit home.

A jubilant Party Atmosphere filled the entire Stadium and both sets of Players went to thank their Fans for their support.

As the Boro Players went up to collect their Runners up Medals a wave of applause echoed the Stadium from both sets of fans in recognition that this was truly a Cup Final that will be remembered in both Clubs history for many years to come.

Then a deadly silence fell as the Dortmund players lined up to receive their winning Medals and over the loud speaker the words every Dortmund Fan was waiting to here arrived..... SFTLA 2004 League Cup Champions .... "BORRUSSIA DORTMUND" !!! The stadium shook as Dortmund Players Lifted aloft the Trophy to their fans and Dortmund had done the impossible and won the League Cup Final in what has to be one of the greatest comebacks of all time.

Mourinho - his own man

Visit Chelsea mini site New Chelsea manager José Mourinho doesn't want to be linked with any kind of manager other than himself. And he believes there is more to himself than just being a football manger.

I'm not a football excessive,” he said in his press conference. “I love football since I remember, and I understand the evolution of football and the needs of modern football. I'm not a defender of old managers or new ones. I believe in good managers and bad ones, ones who achieve success and ones who didn't. I don't want to be one of the faces of new managers. I want to be one manager. Also, don't call me arrogant because it is true, I'm manager of the European champions!

He listed medical, statistical and audio-visual knowledge as some of the interests a modern manager must pursue “to make our dream better.”

His own culture includes his family who are in London with him, wife Matilde, daughter aged eight who is also Matilde, and four year old son José Mario.

We look forward to even more success now under our new manager. But as a true fan I would love to say a massive thank you to Claudio for all he has done for the club and the way he conducted himself - brilliant.

SFTLA Premiership Update :- Cheltenham v Spurs

Sweetpatch FTL Academy - PC League

Last years Treble Winner Kotp was up against this Season's golden boy in the form of reigning UK Champion Adam Reid in this SFTLA Premiership clash.

Cheltenham at home in front of their home fans who have witnessed this season a fine display from their players were in fine voice.....at the other end of the stadium the Spurs supporters were also in a jubilant mood and made themselves heard as this titanic tussle kicked off.....

Cheltenham got things underway and soon pressed hard into the Spurs midfield and defence , the Lilly whites held firm and withstood the constant barrage of attacking moves put together by this silky Cheltenham outfit.

Spurs themselves looked dangerous in possession when going forward but this was a clash of two experienced players and chances were not very forthcoming. Spurs striker Keane came closest in the first half with a long range effort that sailed harmlessly wide of the Cheltenham goal.

The Second Half began with both teams trying to find a way thru the solid barriers of midfield and defence on both sides, Cheltenham found space a few times on the Wing but were quickly chopped down to stop the deadly cross from being delivered.

This is where the first real chance of the game came , when Cheltenham were awarded a free kick some 30yrds out from goal. The Free-Kick was struck perfectly but somehow Keller managed to get a hand to it which fortunately for Spurs fell kindly to Ledley King who whacked it up field and out of danger.

Spurs then put together their best move of the game with some slick passing and a great opportunity opened up for Keane who let fly but saw his effort smash against the crossbar.

All in all both teams defended solidly and the title can only be thrown away now by this impressive Cheltenham side, Spurs on the other hand put a dent in the Cheltenham 100% record with this draw and are so far the only team to hold this mighty club from scoring, so some positive aspects were taken away by the Spurs manager Kotp.

This game ended Cheltenham 0-0 Spurs.

SFTLA PC Premiership Update

Sweetpatch FTL Academy - PC League

Spurs entertained Real Madrid in this SFTLA League match and with both sides looking to end their campaign on a high note the scene was set for an entertaining match.

Spurs opened up the scoring when Keane was given too much space in the Madrid box and his shot easily beat the helpless Madrid Keeper to make it 1-0.

Spurs continued to press hard and the Madrid Keeper made some fantastic saves to deny the Lilly Whites adding to their score. At the Half Time whistle Spurs led 1-0.

The Second Half began where the 1st Half left off and Spurs were immediately on the attack and it was Keane again who added to the score , a perfect near post cross from Simon Davies on the left wing was controlled beautifully by the Irish Forward who swivelled on a sixpence and volleyed home his second of the match to put the Spurs 2-0 up and in total control.

Real Madrid now with nothing to lose pressed forward in numbers in search of a goal and they had a great chance midway thru the second half when Ronaldo found space and with only the keeper to beat blasted his shot into Row Z Seat 1,010 and this really summed up the Madrid confidence.

Spurs eager to add more goals to the score went in search of more and it was Giant Forward Kanoute who grabbed Spurs third , a lovely cross in from the wing was met by a towering Kanoute who powered his header past the helpless keeper and Spurs led 3-0.

Kanoute wasn't finished there and almost a copycat incident late on saw him rise like a Salmon and power yet another bullet header past the helpless Madrid Keeper to wrap up a solid 4-0 display by the Lilly Whites.
