FIFA 2004 with Alessandro Del Piero

Over at the official site of Alessandro Del Piero he talks about his involvement with FIFA 2004. This is the whole article:

"Raise your hand if you have ever experienced that unmistakable feeling of numbness of fingers and burning eyes typical of a two hour session in front of a videogame.........let me tell you, I know what it feels like, especially if the game allows me to change the results of matches in which I played without joystick or the possibility to start all over again.

Screenshots Visit the official site of Alessandro Del Piero Visit the official site of Alessandro Del Piero

I am talking about FIFA Football 2004, the latest edition of the fabulous video game by EA that very soon will cheer up my spare time during the training camp and your free time. The news is that I will be testimonial of the new edition of the game together with two renowned foreign colleagues that I can't mention yet. Not bad isn't it?

I am sure you will enjoy many great matches as this version has two gems that I can disclose to you because I have already tested them:

  • a new control method called "Off the ball" that gives you the possibility to take control of two players simultaneously, having this way control even of the player who is receiving the ball,
  • and an option called "Career" that allows you take even the smallest team right up to the top of the Championship: you can create your own team, administer budget and staff.

Stay tuned for more info and some exclusive screenshots of the new commercial with myself in.......digital version."

I strongly recommend visiting this site as it is very cool and has some nice effects and features. Thanks to Alessandro Sampogna for bringing this to our attention.

Gaming Extender is out

JFK from the French site www.fifakulte.com has informed us that their Gaming Extender is out. It is a new utility for Fifa 2003; actually, it's the perfect program if you want to tweak FIFA.

Screenshots Click for larger image Click for larger image

It allows you to set up different profiles that you can call back later: multiplayer, solo etc... Besides, you can even add your new profiles. A must have for players, and especially for patchers who like to edit soccer.ini. Examples:

  • you do play in solo, but in 1024x768, and with specific settings
  • sometimes, you need to lower the resolution, set the game in windowed mode... to avoid lag
  • you may want to play Winamp while playing Fifa...but you are boarded by having to shut the music down in the game's menu
  • you create stadiums, and need to launch the game directly with one of your stadiums

This all needs modifications in the game, sometimes boring....but Gaming Xtender is here !

So they've created both an English and French Fifa XPerience utility's version, so that people who don't understand French won't have any problem to use it... Get your copy from our FIFA 2003 Download Boutique.

Duff and Bridge sign for the Blues

Damien Duff signs for ChelseaDamien Duff finally put pen to paper today as he signed a five-year contract with Chelsea paying a transfer fee of, a reported £17 million to Blackburn Rovers.

The fee makes Damien Duff the most expensive signing in Chelsea's history and ends a wait that has spanned the weekend. Initial talks, between Chelsea and the party representing Damien, started last week.

Duff's signing, coupled with that of Wayne Bridge earlier today, gives Chelsea a whole new left side to the team. With both players having youth on their side it augurs well for the future of the club.

Also on Chelsea TV tonight, Wayne Bridge explained that he was looking forward to playing for Chelsea and couldn't wait to meet his new team mates. He remarked that he had said farewell to the management staff at Southampton and also some of his former team mates.

Two more great signings for Chelsea as we build for a bright future.

The rest is up to Stadium Installer. With this tool you can install single stadiums or whole sets of stadiums.

Football Fusion in TCM 2004

EA have released details of TCM 2004 and they have a BIG surprise in store for us FIFA 2004 fans.

Screenshots Click for larger image Click for larger image

Football Fusion is a unique and innovative feature that will allow the TCM manager to:

  • Take their favourite team from TCM into FIFA, play the league or cup game and then import the result back into TCM.
  • Create an all-star team in TCM and then play against CPU or friends in FIFA 2004.
  • Take any team from TCM, that isn't in FIFA, play with that team in FIFA’s Tournament and Play Now modes, or manage the club to promotion and play it in FIFA’s Career and Single Season modes as well.

This looks like a fantastic feature but only details available of Football Fusion on the PS2 and XBox. No news yet of this feature on the PC. Let's keep our fingers crossed.

New FIFA 2004 screenshots and features

Matt Holme has now returned home from EA Canada and he has been kind enough to send me some original pre-alpha screenshots of FIFA 2004 from his visit. To add to these new screenshots I have also summarised the 111Mb interview by GameSpot with FIFA 2004 Product Manager Matt Bilbey.

Screenshots Click for larger image Click for larger image

The main new exciting points I found Matt referred to in his interview were:

  • 4 areas they really drilled down on to create an "authentic soccer simulation":
    • new database with 30 times the amount of player attributes
    • new formation technology (for both players and team)
    • organic animations
    • deeper playing experience
      • still easy to pick up and play but much more depth for the master
      • 4 to 5 times the amount of button functionality for passing, shooting, etc...
      • Off-the-ball control (remote receiver control)
  • Online play around the world with leagues, ladders and voice-over-IP functionality
  • Game career mode
  • New leagues including Dutch and Portuguese plus lower divisions (30+ leagues altogether)
  • Practice mode

Matt finishes saying there is still a long way to go in the development process and changes/enhancements still to be introduced but EA are looking forward to an awesome game to be released in October.

Screenshots Click for larger image Click for larger image

I think it sounds fantastic and can't wait. The things that excite me most are the new depth of play plus the career mode which should add so much to our enjoyment of the Fifa series.

You can download this and all the other FIFA 2004 videos released so far from our FIFA 2004 Download Boutique. Thanks again to Matt Holme for these exclusive screenshots.

Help us to help you

In the good old days (before I started this site 4 years ago) the Internet advertising revenue model was very profitable. These days it is none existent and that is why we need your daily help.

Keeping this website alive is a passion of mine and in return I receive very little in the way of advertising revenue. I pay a monthly fee to host the site which is not covered by the revenue we receive from advertisers.

So how can you help us to help you enjoy your Fifa experience for years to come? To improve the site requires investment and to continue to run the site requires investment. If you can do the following it really would help us to help you:

  • Every time a pop ad appears all you need to do is click on it. It is only this way that we receive any advertising revenue. A banner displayed these days is no revenue - only when you click on it is it worth anything.
  • Join up with our great new affiliate scheme at ManagerZone and manage your Football team to success online v players from all around the world.
  • Need to get your football teams kit or a new set of boots? Then visit our Kitbag.com Shop and see what we have in store for you.
  • Need the latest CDs, books and software? Then visit our Amazon Shop and see what goodies we have there for you.
  • Finally, hopefully you will all be buying FIFA 2004. Pre-order your copy today and you will not have to worry as it will be delivered to you on the day of release.

Many thanks in advance for helping the future be bright for both us and you. A click a day keeps the bank manager at bay!

FIFA 2004 Chat No. 2

Over at the EA Sports FIFA 2004 Football Forum you can find all the answers that EA have provided in response to your questions. Some of the highlights include:

  • Q: Tell me more about the new Training Mode
EA: We're currently working on training mode right now and it will be the perfect place for you to practice the control system. We'll post full details on it at a later date.
  • Q: Can you notice the difference for the feel of a team between say Real Madrid to Leeds United?
EA: Yes, our main focus of this year is building on both player and team attributes. So with these attributes, when they are tuned correctly, you'll feel the difference between players and teams.
  • Q: Are the stadiums still packed during games no matter how important it is?
EA: No, we will have a variable attendance model which will effect the crowd.
  • Q: Can players pick up injuries off the field like training or something that will allow us to use the full capability of our squad?
    EA: Yes they will.
  • Q: Will there be player conditions on the team during the season?
EA: Yes. Player condition and overall fatigue will be instrumental in deciding the first 11 for each game in career mode.

Other interesting questions relate to:

  • playing with the keyboard
  • when will demo be released?
  • weather changes during a match
  • warm-ups before matches
  • goalie animations
  • heading
  • crossing
  • throw ins
  • cup/league winning celebrations

If this really excites you then get over to the FIFA 2004 Football Forum to see all the questions and answers. And if that has left you very very excited why not go and pre-order your copy of the game today by visiting Sweetpatch's Shop?

The Complete List of Players Linked with Chelsea

Whilst all Chelsea fans pinch themselves to check the transformation in the club's fortunes is really happening, the press are doing their utmost to ensure Chelsea are linked with every half decent player under the sun. They say a week is a long time in football - I think we'll all agree with that one!

So, whom will Chelsea be getting? Well, it's all a game of speculation at the moment. Check out over at the Chelsea fansite for a full review to see the teams they are supposedly approaching and for who:

  • AC Milan - Alessandro Nesta, Andriy Shevchenko and Rivaldo
  • Arsenal - Thierry Henry and Patrick Vieira
  • Barcelona - Patrick Kluivert
  • Bolton - Jay Jay Okocha
  • Charlton - Scott Parker and Paul Konchesky
  • Fulham - Steve Marlet and Steed Malbranque
  • Juventus - Edgar Davids
  • Leeds - Harry Kewell
  • PSG - Ronaldinho
  • Parma - Hidetoshi Nakata
  • Real Madrid - Geremi
  • Southampton - Wayne Bridge
  • West Ham - Joe Cole

Well, that's the majority of linked players and whether many or any of them will be on show come August at Anfield, we won't know for a while. But it's certainly been fun to sit back and watch the rumours mounting up, and there's plenty more to come! Check out the full review at the Chelsea fansite.
