MLS sew up All-Star win

MLS sew up All-Star winThe MLS All-Stars got three second-half goals, including a pair from substitute Jeff Cunningham, to race past Fulham FC of the English Premier League for a 4-1 victory in the 2005 Sierra Mist MLS All-Star Game on Saturday afternoon at Columbus Crew Stadium.

MLS All-Star Game Honda MVP Taylor Twellman (New England Revolution) gave the MLS team the lead midway through the first half, but a penalty converted by Fulham's Claus Jensen sent the teams into the break level. Ronnie O'Brien (FC Dallas) deflected a Clint Dempsey (New England Revolution) shot to put the MLS side ahead for good just before the hour. Cunningham (Colorado Rapids) scored two goals in the final five minutes to provide the final scoreline.

Pre Season Friendly: DC Utd 1 Chelsea 2

Pre Season Friendly: DC Utd 1 Chelsea 2Wayne Bridge returned from injury weeks ahead of schedule, Lassano Diarrra impressed on his first 45 minutes for the club, but this was not Chelsea’s finest performance of the season.

José Mourinho said afterwards: “In the first-half we were very bad, in the second-half we were better but we were still bad.” He was referring to a lack of motivation from the players. But he admitted it is almost impossible to raise it in the same way as for Milan and Benfica, the previous two friendlies, despite DC being the USA champions.

Chelsea lacked attacking shape and midfield rhythm in the starting line-up which allowed DC, in the middle of their season, to enjoy lots of possession.

Tiago was given the Makelele defensive role allowing Jarošik to be more advanced, but there was no retaining of possession and DC had the better of the game. They played with three at the back and spread the ball well.

  • 1-0: Just before the half hour Terry typically put his head in the way of a drive when right-wing back Gros cut inside and hit a left-footed 25 yarder. From the resulting corner central defender Boswell headed Carroll’s inswinger just inside the far post.
  • 1-1: It took Chelsea five minutes to equalise and Damien Duff was the scorer. Duff has had a good pre-season and has arguably been Chelsea’s most consistent performer. Backing off beyond the six yard box, he volleyed Wright-Phillips’ cross back across the keeper and just inside the far post.
  • 1-2: The game was won in the 57th minute, Crespo haring away on to Robben’s pass and easing it past the advancing keeper.

Once again the crowd wasn’t what was hoped for but 31,473 constituted an interest and potential which is too good to ignore.

Pre Season Friendly: Chelsea 1 AC Milan 0

Pre Season Friendly: Chelsea 1 AC Milan 0One-nil to Chelsea, no shots on target for Milan, scorching attacking from wide men on the counter — normal business has been resumed in the first pre-season USA friendly of 2005.

Chelsea’s counter-attacking potential was underlined after just seven minutes when the first corner of the game, a Milan one, was interfered with by the referee as the ball came across. Robben darted away from ref and Gattuso, raced box to box, and when his shot was blocked Gudjohnsen won the ball back and squared it to Duff whose edge of the area low effort was well saved by diving goalkeeper Eleftheropulus to his right.

The game was won, however, by good possession play starting with Gudjohnsen and Gérémi. The ball was moved in to Makelele who made a fine penetrating, angled pass inside to Robben, and he placed a perfect, low shot just inside the post. Robben was looking sharp. It was the 13th minute.

Arsenal Home Kit 2005/06

Arsenal Home Kit 2005/06Today we bring you Sweetpatch Development Posse member, Anubhav Ashok's, Arsenal Home Kit 2005/06 for FIFA 2005.

Arsenal’s famous red and white strip has a less obvious heritage than the crest. In 1895 a selection of Nottingham Forest players joined the squad, subsequently bringing their old kit along with them. Arsenal’s economic resources in the 19th Century were not as they are today. Therefore working to a tight budget, the Club decided the most inexpensive way of acquiring a strip was to kit out the team in the same colour as the ex-Forest players. So, the very origins of Arsenal’s kit were more by accident than design.

This original kit was a deep red, with long sleeves, a collar and three buttons down the front. The shirt was worn with white knee length shorts and heavy woolen socks with blue and white hoops. The goalkeeper wore the same attire apart from the shirt - which was a hand knitted cream woolen polo neck jumper.
It was this deep red kit that the team wore during their first season at Highbury in 1913/14.

It was the arrival of manager Herbert Chapman in 1925 that launched the Arsenal kit as we know it today. Chapman noticed someone at the ground wearing a red sleeveless sweater over a white shirt. This inspired him to create a new strip combining a red shirt with white collar and sleeves. It also incorporated the Club badge, which was positioned on the left-hand side of the shirt. This particular shirt was produced by Bukta, one of the first sportswear manufacturers in the UK. One of the 1935/36 Bukta kits belonging to winger Alf Kirchen is displayed in the Arsenal Museum.

Chelsea complete SWP signing

Chelsea complete SWP signingShaun Wright-Phillips became a Chelsea player Monday lunchtime after signing a five year contract.

Arriving at Chelsea with father Ian Wright and agent Mitchell Thomas, he completed his medical and is now due to fly out with the rest of the team to the USA today.

With a pre-season game and training already under his belt for Manchester City, he is ready to be involved straight away. Chelsea’s next game is against Milan in Boston next Sunday.

He has asked to play in the Number 24 shirt. “It’s the date my son was born,” he explained. “He loves football.”

He knows plenty of the Chelsea team from England, England Under 21s, his kit sponsor and his youth — he was playing against and becoming friends with Joe Cole when they were still at school.

He knows he is going to be competing for places with Cole, Arjen Robben and Damien Duff. “That’s fine by me,” he says, “I never expected to be in anywhere and walk into any team to be honest with you. Competition is just healthy really and will help make me a better player. I just want to try and get some medals and be a regular part of the team. I want to play well for myself and for the fans, and for the coaching staff.

Chief executive Peter Kenyon added: “We’re delighted that Shaun has joined us. He’ll be a fantastic asset to the team and squad. This carries on the Chelsea policy of investing in young, top English talent.

Ok, on with the awesome news we have for you today. Our excellent Sweetpatch Development Posse utility developer Rinaldo Zocca has created a great new utility for you, his Commentary Master 2005.

Commentary Master is an editor that allows you to modify the commentary of FIFA 2005 and allows you to do several things including:

  • from simply adding a comment for hearing the name of a player when he touches the ball;
  • up to replacing the entire commentary with your own voice;
  • you can also export and import any part of the commentary to exchange with your friends;
  • Commentary Master also comes with a powerful sound recorder and editor: Audacity. (Audacity is free software developed by audacity.sourceforge.net)

Download this excellent Utility direct from our Download Boutique.

Please note: Commentary Master requires the .Net Framework to be installed on your PC for it to run.

To compliment the release of Commentary Master 2005 Rinaldo has also developed the International Commentary Patch 2005.

This excellent patch allows all the international commentators from England, Spain, Germany, France and Italy to work together in your FIFA commentary. You will have over 2800 players called with their own name by the different commentators. When possible the commentators with the most correct pronunciation have been selected. The rest of the commentary will remain in your original language.

Download this excellent Commentary Patch, to compliment your copy of Commentary Master 2005, direct from our Download Boutique.
