Listen to Bergkamp

Real Madrid players had a bad day yesterday, not only that they lost to Lokomativ Moscow, but in the flight back to Spain, one of the airplane engines was on fire. When Madrid's players noticed the fire they informed it to the pilot and the plane returned to Russia in peace.

Ivan Helguera said: "it was the worst moment of my life".

The New Phase

I hope you are all enjoying this new phase in the FIFA community, as the new FIFA 2002 has raised the quality of the FIFA saga series. For some people it has more quality than before but for others it is just the same "old" thing. Well for these lads who say that this is just another piece of cheap software, I can say they´re pretty wrong because the new FIFA 2002 game hasn´t just got the best gameplay that FIFA was able to made until now, but the most important issue is that they finally have opened their eyes and saw a huge community behind FIFA asking for more quality and they tried to give this new FIFA 2002 a better look by listening to some of us. Well what I can say to the makers of FIFA is keep listening to us and someday you will get a more realistic game, because you still have lot´s of things to progress on.

As a proof of all what I said before is true I am proud to tell you that all along this week, months, years, centuries and eternity we will keep bringing you FIFA news, patches and the best friend of all the gamers the Sweetpatch Utilities, so we can transform this great game into a perfect game.

To all the Portuguese League fans during this week you will have a series of patches for the FIFA 2002 demo, the first will be a Benfica Porto patch and some other patches will come followed. But these small patches are just the beginning of a huge patch that will be developed for the FIFA 2002 game by us, this patch will be called MEGA Sweetpatch 2002 and will be produced of course by the great Sweetpatch MRA team, more details on this patch will be released in a near future.

2S kits only at Soccered.com

Soccered.com has made the first important breakthrough in Fifa 2002. 2S(leeve) kits have been developed to increase the reality of kits.

More and more kits are using designs that are irregular and demand two different sleeve images (examples are Blackburn Rovers, and Valencia). To cope with this demand YJ has edited the Fifa code to allow multiple sleeve images. Kits that do not need two images will not be effected. To understand the full capabilities refer to the following screenshot.

The patch can be downloaded directly by accessing http://2skits.soccered.com or you can download 2S kits at http://www.footygaming.com/downloads.

Fifa 2002 Demo released

Secondly, the much awaited Fifa 2002 demo has been released. I am just downloading the demo as I write this so cannot comment on it yet. Early reviews in the forum include:

  • I think the demos cool
  • I am happy the way the games turned out
  • I am gonna buy this game no matter what
  • The game rocks
  • Finally EA have made it right
  • Its not perfect but way better
  • Change the INI.BIG file for some cool options
  • Player animations are laughable, they almost come to a standstill before passing, shooting etc...
  • The 1-2 pass is way too effective and too unrealistic

As expected there is a wide range of views from excellent to awful. Get your copy of the demo direct from EA Sports and soon from Fifa 2002 Online and see what your view is. Roll on 2nd November!

News from FIFAustralia

Gazza has 're-re-opened' FIFAustralia to celebrate the new NSL season, and prepare for the upcoming release of Fifa 2002. They are also starting plans for an NSL Patch for 2002, and a Socceroos Patch, since Australia don't feature in Qualifying in the game.

Anyway, they are at www.FIFAustralia.soccered.com and are the only Fifa gaming site down under. They are also looking to expand into the ISS division too, so if you are an ISS fan in Australia send an e-mail and tell them what you can do.

That's all from Down Under......they're back!

Fifa 2002 News Update

While I have been away news has been starting to flow with regard Fifa 2002. Here are some of the highlights so far for you:

1. Matt at Soccer Gaming has received a copy of the full, ready to be released version of FIFA 2002 meaning we'll have literally 100's of new screenshots uploaded for you over the next few days. Matt will even be putting together his own review. Matt has uploaded 34 high-res screenshots over at the FIFA 2002 preview site, check out the fantastic quality of the 2 below and then head to www.fifa2002.com for all the new action shots.

Click for larger image   Click for larger image

From Matt's experience so far, this year EA has taken FIFA 2002 to a whole new difficulty level. Where as in FIFA 2001 you would have won in World Class mode, Matt is now struggling to score a goal in Professional mode. On top of this, FIFA 2002 does not feel like the same FIFA we've come to know over the past 5 years. This is a whole new feeling game and one he is certainly enjoying.

2. FIFA 2002 Online is taking shape with a really cool, modern new design and some excellent features. We're hoping the site will be ready for launch in 1-2 weeks. EA have also let us know that the FIFA 2002 demo is being tested and should be out early next week.

3. Everyone at the Soccer Gaming Forums has caught FIFA 2002 fever. Make sure you head there today to give your opinion on what FIFA 2002 will be like. Matt is also personally answering question on the game there.

4. In other FIFA 2002 news, FIFA Italia have recently uploaded the second movie they took as the big ECTS show. It displays the new passing systems and really shows off the new ingame graphics. Head to FIFA Italia to download the movie.

5. Have you ordered your copy of Fifa 2002 yet? It sounds like it can't be missed. Thanks to our partnership with Soccer Gaming and Gamer you can now pre-order your copy of Fifa 2002 for only £19.99 and it will be delivered to you on the day of its release.

That is all the Fifa 2002 updates for now. Check back regularly as we will bring you all the latest and greatest news.
