FIFA 07 News - Q&A with the developers of FIFA 07

FIFA 07 News - Your questions sent to the developers of FIFA 07As you know, we managed to secure a Q&A session with the developers of FIFA 07 and many thanks for all your great questions.

From the 4 we sent in 3 were selected (numbered below) and included in the full interview with Jamie Toghill, a member of the Xbox 360 development team behind FIFA 07:

  1. Q: Rumours are that you cannot perform tricks in the Xbox 360 version. Is that true or are tricks achievable?
  • A: The new physics engine actually promotes user-defined tricks. There are no canned special moves but rather the flexibility for gamers to create their own within the context of what is authentic to Football. We've actually be pleasantly surprised how users are creating their own special moves when we look at videos on the internet.
  1. Q: What would have been the one feature you would love to have included in FIFA 07 if time had been on your side, but we will definitely see appear in FIFA 08?
  • A: There are many features that I think each member of our team would have loved to include in FIFA 07. Our new gameplay engine sparked a wide variety of cool new ideas we could build onto this system.
  1. Q: Can you explain to the real FIFA fans out there how you take into consideration their suggestions made in forum threads, which often contain a lot of very good ideas for enhancing the game?
  • A: Well, every year we get together as a group and sift through the forums to see what gamers are saying about the game. We're often inundated with great ideas so we spend a lot of time reviewing the ones that make sense and are achievable at that time and look at how we can realise them. The gamer feedback is very important to us because at the end of the day we're making a game we hope they want to play.
  • Q: There have been many FIFA games to date; how hard is it to incorporate new game play features into such an established and popular series?
  • A: FIFA is the largest selling football franchise in the world. It's actually very easy indeed to incorporate new ideas and game play features into our game. The harder decision is what do we invest time in and which features will we have to leave on the design board. Our FIFA team is made up of talented and creative individuals from all over the globe so what we tend to see is that new features and ideas can come from any area of the development team. We also read our forums to see what people want to see in the next installment of FIFA and it's great when we already have a feature in pre-production that gamers are all asking for. We do take these comments and suggestions very seriously and often we tend to find we are in complete synergy with what our fans want to see in the game.
  • Q: The Fifa 06 (Xbox 360) had some online bugs - have you overcome these on FIFA07?
  • A: Yes we have completely rewritten our on line experience for FIFA 07 and this is something users should see instantly when playing the game. In fact most reviews thus far have called out the improved experience.
  • Q: What will be the future of FIFA games? In what direction are you going to take the game?
  • A: This is something we're keeping tight lipped about but you can be assured that we have exciting features in development today that will be showcased in future FIFA games and not necessarily FIFA08. Think big and then you're just starting to scratch the surface of the future of our FIFA game.
  • Q: The FIFA dev team is based in Canada. Do you feel removed from the world of football being based in a nation that isn't renowned for its love of the sport?
  • A: If you look around the FIFA team here in Canada we have people from all over the world. And this was a conscious decision to bring football enthusiasts as well as talent developers to Canada to provide a global voice to represent football for the game. I moved from England to specifically work on FIFA and we're very lucky that people want to come to Vancouver with their sole desire to work on the game. We're football nuts and we grew up playing and watching football. Also, the television coverage for European and world football in Vancouver is amazing. While I might not be able to travel to Goodison Park every week, I get to see more games than I did in the UK!
  • Q: The selection of the licensed soundtrack is great! where do you find all the bands?
  • A: Choosing the music tracks for FIFA is one of the exciting and interesting elements of the development process. We have a dedicated team within EA that specifically research who are the up and coming bands and which songs feel like they will become future hits.
  • Q: The ‘Lounge’ aspect of the game is for many what separates FIFA from other football games. How much does the ‘lounge’ differ from FIFA ’06 and what changes if any will we see?
  • A: We've actually built in more feedback into this year's Lounge mode because of the new engine. The game tracks all the statistics from each match and now generates ratings based on your performance.
  • Q: What is the ultimate reason according to you to choose FIFA over PES?
  • A: We're offering something new to the consumer. This is a completely new FIFA with an innovate and unpredictable gameplay engine. FIFA 07 is a true next generation title which exploits the power of the Xbox 360. We've created a sophisticated engine that does so much more than our competitor's game. If you're looking for a football game that really showcases your console, then FIFA 07 is it.
  • Q: In what way did you use the extra capacity of next gen (360) other than just better graphics? and what is the single biggest enhancement over Fifa 06 you think?
  • A: The main point of focus this year was to build a new gameplay engine from scratch. The things our new system does, you just couldn't do on the current generation of consoles. We've really taken full advantage of the Xbox360 technology and our game is truly next generation. We have no legacy code from our older games. So when you ask the question, what is the single biggest enhancement over FIFA06, it has to be gameplay, gameplay, gameplay!

We hope you enjoyed this interview and especially the answers to the questions that you our fans asked. Post your feedback to this Q&A session by clicking here.

English Premier League Review

Our official English Premiership reporter Salman Khalid brings us all the latest news from Saturday's matches.

English Premier League Review
Saturday 28 October 2006
Visit our home of the English Premier League
Arsenal 1
Everton 1
Everton's dream of winning at the Emirates Stadium was 20 minutes away when Robin Van Persie scored a beauty from a free kick. Everton’s wonder boy Cahill gave his side an early lead which was well protected but curling left footer from Van Persie finished it all for Everton and grabbed the home team one point.
Bolton Wanderers 0
Manchester United 4
It took 10 matches for Rooney to discover once again his goal scoring touch but when it came, it came like fire. Not one not two but three goals were hammered past the goal keeper by Rooney and a fourth one was added by the fast paced youngster Ronaldo. With this win the Red Devils are right at the top spot of the league and looking hungry for the title.
Fulham 0
Wigan Athletic 1
Wigan managed to get their first away win of the season by beating Fulham by one goal at Craven Cottage. It looked as if luck was not favouring Wigan when Danny Landzaat missed a great chance of giving his side the lead from the spot but Henri Camara scored the only goal of the match in the 83rd minute to give his side first away win of the campaign.
Liverpool 3
Aston Villa 1
A comfortable win by a margin of three goals to one gave some relief to Rafael Benitez as his side were not showing consistency recently. First Kuyt fired home the first goal which was doubled by the tall man Crouch and the third was slammed by Garcia within a space of 15 minutes. First half saw the Reds leading by three goals to nil. Second half was again dominated by Liverpool although Villa managed to snatch a goal but were not able to do anything more than that.
Newcastle United 0
Charlton Athletic 0
Newcastle once again disappointed the home crowd as they drew another game when Charlton visited St James' Park. Newcastle were the better of the two sides with a number of opportunities to score but their players were not able to give that final touch to put the ball in the net.
Portsmouth 3
Reading 1

Portsmouth’s flying start to the season continues after some breaks as they beat Reading at home with some style. It all started from an own goal by Brynjar Gunnarsson in the 10th minute and the first half ended with the same score. Nwankwo Kanu scored in the 52nd minute and the third was added by Pedro Mendes to sink Reading. Reading’s only goal was scored by Kevin Doyle in the 85th minute of the match.

Sheffield United 0
Chelsea 2
A goal in each half from the midfielder’s helped Chelsea beat Sheff Utd at Bramall Lane. Lampard fired home the first in the 43rd minute while Ballack scored second of his side in the 49th minute to give his side a comfortable win. Sheffield rued a missed penalty when the score was still 0-0.
Watford 0
Tottenham Hotspur 0
Tommy Smith’s shot over the bar was the best chance of the match for Watford to record their first win of the season. This missed shot which could be the miss of the season for him as his side is desperately in need of a win to put some points on the board. This was the match which seemed as if Watford were going to win but they failed to and the miss in the 80th minute of the match cost them another draw.

CEP 2.1 Update fixed and Filefront misteries

CEP Career Expansion PatchI really don't know how this was technically possible anyway yesterday the CEP 2.1 final update (that has been tested during the last months) presented some corrupted (badly archived and so unreadable) data inside the exe on the Filefront servers: as I re-tested the update without problems I tried to download it from Filefront resulting in an error in career selection zone 3 and 4. I'm VERY disappointed by the things happening with filefront uploading, so I reupped, redownloaded and retested and now the game works as it has to do. Please, all the users who downloaded the update during the day of yesterday (27/10), redownload from Downloads page the update for CEP06 that now is correctly working.

FIFA 07 News - Manager Mode Tips

FIFA 07 News - Manager Mode TipsHow’s your season progressing? Thanks to EA we have got a few great tips to help your club career!

  1. How to play the Transfer Market
A great way to get started in your career is to purchase older stars (30yrs +). They may only be 2 or 3 years from retirement, but they will be cheap and will help you to get out of a rut if your team is consistently losing.
  2. Watch out for the Acts of God
Don’t ignore the random scenarios that pop up from time to time, as selecting the right answer from the three options is pretty important at the start of your career. Once you reach the dizzy heights of 99 in job security, fan appreciation and team morale you will find nothing can stop you!
  3. Secure your Team's Future
Youth players, found in your Youth Academy (via the Office), are cheap investments that can give you a solid player five years down the road. They are a great way of investing in your teams future, so long as you keep an eye on the growth curve of the player and be ruthless if they don't reach a decent rating by the time 5 years roll around.

We hope you found these useful and we will have more Hints and Tips to help your FIFA 07 gameplay soon.

FIFA 07 News - Latest on the PC Patch and Roster Update

FIFA 07 News - PC Patch and Roster UpdateEA have updated us on the latest news concerning the PC patch and roster update for FIFA 07 (and it's still not the news we want to hear).

The latest information EA UK have is that they have been waiting for further information before giving an update because the situation is not satisfactory.

With 3 weeks having passed since the launch of the game, the delay of the patch is already too long to be acceptable, and they are forwarding your comments to the relevant people inside EA.

So, where is the patch?

The patch has completed testing, but, again, one half of it has had an issue where for some PC set-ups it would fail to install correctly, which has resulted in the standalone version of the patch failing.

The two separate patches do the exact same thing, however one is available only when you connect to online play, the other available for offline players to download separately. Right now the auto-install version has passed the testing process while the other one has not.

They are currently pushing for the auto-install version to be released as soon as possible while the problem is resolved in the other version, however this may create significant problems for online play, and given the level of online gaming played on the PC release of the game this is not a desirable route.

They are looking to get a full explanation of why there is a significant delay, as well as information on how soon the patch can be expected for you as quickly as possible.

They apologise for the considerable frustration the delay to the release of the patch may have caused.

Keep updated with all the latest official patch news by clicking here.

CEP07 Betatesting Subscribe

CEP Career Expansion PatchAfter having provide to the Fifa 2006 users an huge expansion of the game modalities, the CEP, Career Expansion Patch, brings its project for the Fifa 2007 game. All the CEP team worked hard during these months to provide a final update for all the fifa 2006 gamers and, at the same time, to convert the patch for Fifa 2007, with more updates, more teams, more leagues, a wider and more intese game experience.

As we want to release a CEP07 as bugs-free as possible we will start next week (first days of November) an intese beta-testing of about 20 days in which we hope to involve as much gamers as possible, each with a specific competence about one of the many leagues included.

To partecipate to the CEP07 betatesting you need the following requisites:

- having the original Fifa 2007 game (no ripped versions!)
- being at least 17 years old
- having a good competence about at least one of the leagues included
- good internet connection (i.e. no 56k)

The countries of the leagues that the first CEP07 will perform are:

Australia, Albania, Austria, Argentina, Bulgaria, Belgium, Brazil, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Czech Republic, Croatia, Denmark, Ecuador, England, France, Finland, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland Republic, Italy, Japan, Lithuania, Mexico, Netherlands, Norway, Peru, Poland, Portugal, Paraguay, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Slovenia, Slovakia, Scotland, Ukraine, United States, Uruguay, Venezuel

Partecipating to the CEP07 betatesting you agree too:

- do not use the CEP material for personal use and redistribution
- do not spread informations, details and images about CEP07
- do the tasks that will be assigned to each betatester

If you feel that you can't respect any of these points, please do not partecipate to this testing effort.

To subscribe to the betatest please write to fifaock @ yahoo.it writing:

- The league(s) you know well enough and that you want to test
(probably some will receive leagues that they don't know though)

We are waiting for you collaboration, thanks in advance for your help. The selected betatesters will be contacted during next week with the indications of the work to be done.

PS. A special help is needed for Argentina league, as we found as many of the clubs don't have a good official site: we have to renew completely the players styles and physical appearances, so if you think you can help us in a systematic way about this please contact me: for this point you don't need the Fifa 2007 game.

English Premier League Review

Our official English Premiership reporter Salman Khalid brings us all the latest news from yesterday's matches.

English Premier League Review
Sunday 22 October 2006
Visit our home of the English Premier League
Blackburn Rovers 0 Bolton  Wanderers 1
Jussi Jaaskelainen’s heroics saved Bolton right at the end of the game when he saved two consecutive penalties in just two minutes. First he saved a spot kick by Benni McCarthy in the 78th minuet and one minute later he again saved another spot kick by Jason Robert to deny Rovers getting points on the board. Ivan Campo had given Bolton the lead in 62nd minute of the match which was defended till the end.
Manchester United 2
Liverpool 0
Two goals in each half from Paul Scholes and Rio Ferdinand pushed Liverpool down the table to 11th spot, further away from title. The old rivalry was easily won by the Red Devils on their home ground. Scholes scored in the 39th minute while Ferdinand added another in the second half to spoil Liverpool’s title hopes.
Middlesbrough 1 Newcastle  United 0
Aiyegbeni Yakubu’s late goal helped Middlesbrough beat Newcastle at The Riverside stadium. He scored when only 5 minutes were remaining on the clock. Defeat sent Newcastle to 16th spot while Middlesbrough are at 12th spot with the win.
Reading 0
Arsenal 4
Arsenal once again proved that they are still hungry for the title when they crushed new comers Reading at Madejski Stadium. Thierry Henry opened the scoring within the first minute of the match and after that goals started coming down like rain. Alexander Hleb scored in the 39th minute and the first half ended in favor of Arsenal. Second half was once again dominated by the Gunners as Robin van Persie scored third in 50th minute and Henry scored his second of the night from the spot in the 70th minute to wrap it up.
Tottenham Hotspur 1 West Ham United 0

Ahmed Hossam Mido’s goal right at the brink of half time was not more than a nightmare for Hammers as they were once again beaten by Spurs at White Hart Lane. It was a good way to take revenge from Hammers who snatched 4th spot last season from Spurs by beating them. West Ham are still in the relegation zone and need something quick if they want to stay alive in the league.

CEP Career Expansion PatchToday or tomorrow I will publish for all the 2006 CEP users the final update for the CEP 2.0, namely the CEP06 update 2.1, that will contain all the fixes for the bugs reported and a massive rosters update for a lot of teams.

I'm very proud to include in this list of updated leagues some tournaments as USA MLS and South American leagues that lacked of a real update. I checked personally every single club website to include all the new players and the most updated rosters to the present season, you will be delighted by the presence of all the new promises of championships like United States MLS, Brazilian Serie A and so on.

In the meanwhile the work on CEP07 (that will be the CEP07 3.0 as first version) is at a very good point: basically I have completed the long and complex conversion of the db, of all the assets and gui elements and partially of the kits: when the kits conversion will be finished the first version of CEP 3.0 for Fifa 2007 will be ready and we can start the betatesting.

In the following hours I will post the detailed announcement about betatesting so we can start working together quickly to release the first release for Fifa 2007. So, stay tuned on Sweetpatch because we are going to revolutionise Fifa 2007 too, and considering how good are the improvements done by EA be sure that your FIFA experience will be something really astonishing!

English Premier League Review
Saturday 21 October 2006
Visit our home of the English Premier League
Aston Villa 1
Fulham 1
It was a game with few chances for both sides and ended in a draw with one goal each. Gareth Barry scored from the spot to give Villa the lead and Moritz Volz's scored the equalizer for Fulham right at the brink of half time to save his side from a defeat. Draw puts Villa in 6th spot while Fulham are in 9th position.
Charlton Athletic 0
Watford 0
Two of the bottom clubs clashed at the Valley but both of them had to settle for a goal less draw. Both clubs are in the relegation zone and need something from their upcoming games if they want to stay alive in the Premier league.
Chelsea 2
Portsmouth 1
At last the dead lock was broken for Ukraine star Andriy Shevchenko who scored his first home goal of the season which also helped his side to move to the top spot in the Premiership right above Man Utd who faced Liverpool on Sunday. Ballack also scored his first goal to ensure Chelsea got all three points. The only goal for Portsmouth came from Benjani Mwaruwari.
Everton 2
Sheffield United 0
Everton at last won at home by beating 10 men Sheff Utd. Arteta gave Everton an early lead which was doubled by James Beattie from the spot. Claude Davis was shown a red card in the 33rd minute of the match. Blades played very well in the 2nd half and created number of chances but were unable to beat the back four of Everton.
Wigan Athletic 4
Manchester City 0

Two goals in each half sunk frustrated Man City who are now in 12th spot with this heavy defeat. Emile Heskey opened the scoring in the 2nd minute of the match which was doubled by a bizarre own goal from Richard Dunne. 2nd half was once again started brightly by the home side and Henri Camara scored the third in the 65th minute and with in next three minutes 4th goal was on the board. Wigan with this win are now in 13th spot.

FIFA 07 News - Your questions sent to the developers of FIFA 07As you know, we managed to secure a Q&A session with the developers of FIFA 07 and many thanks for all your great questions.

I have reviewed them all and have been asked to forward on 4 questions in priority order. They are as follows:

  1. Can you explain to the real FIFA fans out there how you take into consideration their suggestions made in forum threads, which often contain a lot of very good ideas for enhancing the game?
  2. Rumours are that you cannot perform tricks in the Xbox 360 version. Is that true or are tricks achievable?
  3. Can you please clarify how many leagues there will be in the Xbox 360 version of FIFA 07?
  4. What would have been the one feature you would love to have included in FIFA 07 if time had been on your side, but we will definitely see appear in FIFA 08?

We await their answers and you will be the first to find all the answers here as soon as the Q&A session is published.

UEFA Champions League Review - Matchday 3

Following yesterday's matches, we check out a brief summary of all the action below:

UEFA Champions League Review
Group A
Visit our home of the UEFA Champions League
Werder Bremen 2
Levski Sofia 0
Werder Bremen revived their hopes of reaching the knockout rounds of the UEFA Champions League as goals in each half from Naldo and Diego earned a vital 2-0 victory against PFC Levski Sofia in Group A.
Chelsea 1
Barcelona 0
Chelsea FC took an emphatic hold on Group A with a Didier Drogba-inspired victory that inflicted FC Barcelona's first defeat in the UEFA Champions League since March 2005 – which also came at Stamford Bridge. Drogba unleashed a sublime turn and shot in the 47th minute to divide the teams and add to his Matchday 2 hat-trick against PFC Levski Sofia. It earned the English champions a third successive win and moved them five points clear of a Barcelona side who always fought hard and skilfully. With two home games to come, the holders will no doubt remain confident of taking one of the two qualifying places.
Group B
Visit our home of the UEFA Champions League
Inter Milan 2
Spartak Moscow 1
Two goals in the first nine minutes from Julio Cruz helped FC Internazionale Milano break their 2006/07 UEFA Champions League duck as the Serie A leaders earned a 2-1 win against FC Spartak Moskva.
Sporting 0
Bayern Münich 1
Bastian Schweinsteiger's first-half goal proved enough to give FC Bayern München victory at Sporting Clube de Portugal and cement their place atop UEFA Champions League Group B - despite the German international's sending-off a minute into the second half.
Group C
Visit our home of the UEFA Champions League
Bordeaux 0
Liverpool 1
Peter Crouch once again made the difference as Liverpool FC beat FC Girondins de Bordeaux to cement their position at the top of Group C. The home side failed to find the net for the third consecutive UEFA Champions League match and although Liverpool never hit top gear, they were rarely troubled by their French opponents.
Galatasaray 1
PSV 2
PSV Eindhoven coach Ronald Koeman got the better of his former team-mate Erik Gerets as the Dutch champions bounced back from an early deficit to win at Galatasaray SK thanks to second-half strikes from Jan Kromkamp and Arouna Koné.
Group D
Visit our home of the UEFA Champions League
Valencia 2
Shakhtar Donetsk 0
A double from David Villa was enough to give Valencia CF a comfortable 2-0 victory over Group D strugglers FC Shakhtar Donetsk.
Olympiacos 0
AS Roma 1
AS Roma secured a firm grip on second place in Group D by taking three vital points against Olympiacos CFP thanks to Simone Perrotta's solitary goal at the Georgios Karaiskakis Stadium. The Italy midfielder slid in substitute Aleandro Rosi's cross to break Olympiacos hearts and hand Roma their first UEFA Champions League away win in five matches following a tense encounter in the Greek capital.

UEFA Champions League Review - Matchday 3

Following yesterday's matches, we check out a brief summary of all the action below:

UEFA Champions League Review
Group E
Visit our home of the UEFA Champions League
Steaua Bucharest 1
Real Madrid 4
Ruud van Nistelrooy became only the third player to score 50 goals in the European Champion Clubs' Cup with an astute chip as Real Madrid CF moved to within striking distance of a place in the knockout stages of the UEFA Champions League with a commanding victory at FC Steaua Bucuresti.
Dynamo Kiev 0
Lyon 3
Juninho Pernambucano enhanced his reputation as European football's premier free-kick specialist as Olympique Lyonnais moved to within touching distance of qualifying for the knockout rounds. The Brazilian added another to his collection of stunning set-pieces with the first goal in Lyon's comprehensive 3-0 Group E victory over winless FC Dynamo Kyiv. Juninho turned provider for the third, headed in by Florent Malouda, while Kim Källström got the other as Gérard Houllier's slick outfit strengthened their position at the summit.
Group F
Visit our home of the UEFA Champions League
Celtic 3
Benfica 0
Two second-half goals from Kenny Miller and a late strike from Stephen Pearson gave Celtic FC a 3-0 victory over SL Benfica in the first round of their double-header to move the Glasgow club five points ahead of their Portuguese rivals in Group F.
Manchester United 3
Copenhagen 0
Manchester United FC have one foot in the UEFA Champions League knockout rounds after a comfortable 3-0 victory over FC København. United's third straight win leaves them three points clear of second-placed Celtic FC in Group F - with København bottom and still seeking their first goal in the tournament. Despite the presence of captain Tobias Linderoth, who flew into Manchester this morning still awaiting the birth of his baby, Ståle Solbakken's men were second best on a night when United's greater quality and experience told.
Group G
Visit our home of the UEFA Champions League
CSKA Moscow 1
Arsenal 0
PFC CSKA Moskva replaced Arsenal FC at the top of Group G after recording a memorable 1-0 win against last season's finalists at the Lokomotiv Stadium. A stunning 24th-minute free-kick from Daniel Carvalho was enough to hand the Russian Premier-Liga leaders their second victory of the campaign and their first against English opposition, leaving them on course to qualify for the knockout rounds for the first time. The defeat ended Arsenal's six-match winning streak and, fielding a conservative 4-5-1 formation, the visitors lacked their usual sparkle and fluency, Thierry Henry cutting a isolated figure in attack.
Porto 4
Hamburg 1
FC Porto broke their scoring duck in this season's UEFA Champions League in emphatic fashion with a defeat of Hamburger SV that leaves the visitors adrift in Group G after three losses. Lisandro López scored at the start and end of the match, with a Lucho González penalty and Hélder Postiga's header helping the Portuguese club to an emphatic victory. Third-placed Porto are now four points ahead of Hamburg - who they visit on 1 November - and within two of Arsenal FC.
Group H
Visit our home of the UEFA Champions League
Lille 3
AEK Athens 1
LOSC Lille Métropole took a significant step towards securing a first-ever qualification for the UEFA Champions League knockout stage as late goals from Daniel Gygax and Jean II Makoun fired them to a 3-1 victory over Group H rivals AEK Athens FC in France.
Anderlecht 0
AC Milan 1
A magnificent strike from Kaká ensured that AC Milan returned to winning ways against RSC Anderlecht in Group H despite playing with ten men for almost the entire second half.

English Premier League Review

Our official English Premiership reporter Salman Khalid brings us all the latest news from Saturday's matches.

English Premier League Review
Saturday 14 October 2006
Visit our home of the English Premier League
Arsenal 3
Watford 0
It was Thierry Henry’s day as Arsenal dumped Watford 3-0 at the Emirates stadium. An own goal from Jordan Stewart started it all which was doubled by Henry just before the break to give Arsenal a healthy lead at half time. Second half once again went Arsenal’s way as they scored another to continue their winning streak.
Aston Villa 1
Tottenham Hotspur 1
A red card, an own goal and a penalty, it was all drama between Villa and Spurs at the Villa Park. Calum Davenport was given his marching orders on a rough tackle and later Angel put the ball in his own net but Gareth Barry's super strike saved the match for Villa. Spurs were the better side in whole of the game and they must be very disappointed not taking all three points away from home.
Liverpool 1
Blackburn Rovers 1
Craig Bellamy’s goal against his former club helped the Reds maintain their unbeaten home record of the season but they failed to snatch all three points. Benedict McCarthy in the 17th minute scored from a cross to give Rovers a surprise lead which was maintained till half time. Liverpool boss had no other choice but to put Aurelio and Crouch in the starting lineup due to injury problems with Sissoko and Kuyt.
Manchester City 0
Sheffield United 0

Sheff Utd managed to snatch their first away point of the season which helped them move away from the danger zone. Man City created a number of chances but were unable to take advantage from any of them.

Middlesbrough 2
Everton 1
Everton's unbeaten run of the season came to an end when they faced Middlesbrough in an entertaining game. Yakubu scored from the spot in the 26th minute and missed another but Viduka scored which proved to be the winning goal for his side.
Portsmouth 2
West Ham United 0
Portsmouth’s flying start to the season continues as they dumped the Hammers at home. It was West Ham’s sixth straight defeat and they have now dropped it to the relegation zone. Kanu's sixth goal in seven games and a late strike from Cole was enough to get all three points.
Reading 0
Chelsea 1
It was the most horrible game for Jose Mourinho since he joined Chelsea as his side lost their 3 key players. One through red card and the rest of the two through injuries. Mikel Jon Obi was shown the red while both of the top choice goal keepers Petr Cech and Carlo Cudicini were stretchered off the field. Reading were outstanding throughout the game and didn’t even gave single chance to Chelsea. The only goal also came from a deflection that luckily was in the back of the net. Now Chelsea will face Barcelona in the Champions League clash without their two best goalkeepers and one key player.
Wigan Athletic 1
Manchester United 3
Manchester United came from one goal down and scored three to grab top spot in the Premiership. Leighton Baines' superb strike gave Wigan an early lead in the 5th minute of the match which was maintained till the end of the first half. Second half was all United’s way as Nemanja Vidic (62nd minute), Louis Saha (66th minute) and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer (90th minute) scored three goals to give United maximum points.

CEP rosters update

CEP Career Expansion PatchThe work on the massive transfers and rosters update for CEP 2006 is near to be completed and will be released as a final patch for the 2006 version of the CEP during the next week together with the fixing of the various bugs encountered during these weeks. This update will be the basis too of the conversion of the CEP for the 2007 version of Fifa that will feature all the leagues updated to the current season, with the rosters completed by the new youth promises of the various teams. The first release scheduled for Fifa 2007 will be an exact conversion of the last version for 2006 of course including all the rosters updates. Only after this first release of CEP07 we'll start working on the new leagues that we'll implement in Fifa 2007, so that the first CEP07 release should be available on the last week of November or first week of December (after an intensive betatesting) while the new version is scheduled on January/February 2007. You can find the status of the updating work in CEP 2006 section of CEP website.

FIFA 07 News - Latest on the PC Patch and Roster Update

FIFA 07 News - PC Patch and Roster UpdateEA have updated us today that the PC patch and roster update for FIFA 07 has been delayed again following the testing process in order to resolve some issues.

This patch was originally intended to contain the roster update only and be released at the same time as the game, however due to several issues with the game as a whole some fixes have been worked into the patch causing the initial delay.

The reason for this additional delay is that it failed the first round of testing so required additional development before being retested. The failure of the patch last week was caused, we believe, by some problems with international language support, so the amount of work to get that rectified wasn't massive but it does mean that a second round of testing is required.

The timings for getting the test completed this week are extremely tight, so they don't know right now know whether the release of the patch will be this week or not, however we will keep you updated.

As there will undoubtedly be plenty of comment regarding this further delay to the patch please use this thread.

FIFA 07 News - PC Patch and Roster Update

FIFA 07 News - PC Patch and Roster UpdateEA have announced today that the PC patch and roster update for FIFA 07 has been delayed following the testing process in order to resolve a crash issue.

This patch was originally intended to contain the roster update only and be released at the same time as the game, however due several issues with the game as a whole some fixes have been worked into the patch causing the initial delay.

This subsequent delay is unexpected and we are all disappointed that they are not releasing the patch today, however the necessary changes have already been made and the patch is re-entering testing today.

As such the patch will not be released for at least the next few days, however EA will keep us updated on a daily basis as to its progress.

EA apologise for the frustration this delay may cause however they wanted to ensure the patch not only addresses the important need for up to date teams, but also deals with several issues which may cause instability in the game.

The current fix list for this patch is as follows:

  • resolves an issue with online play whereby the game can be made to crash both users out immediately. (Not giving full details on what causes this right now, as it would be exploited by those wishing to cheat).
  • resolves an issue whereby changing your club logo to a custom logo causes the game to crash - although this only happens the first time.
  • resolves an issue with line-up changes made using the mouse causing graphical corruption.

This list is current, however it may be revised when the patch is released.

As there will undoubtedly be plenty of comment regarding the delay to the patch please use this thread.

Joseph Ngwenya, Jacob Thomas, and Jason Garey scored for the Crew, Dallas scored a late consolation on Carlos Ruiz’ 12th goal of the season.

Red Bull New York 1
Chicago Fire 0
Josmer Altidore, just 16 years old, scored his third MLS goal in his first career start, to keep New York’s playoff hopes alive.
NE Revolution 3
Colorado Rapids 1
New England were the better team from the start as Colorado put up little resistance to the Revolution attack. Steve Ralston (4’), Jose Manuel Abundis (59’), and Clint Dempsey (79’) put the game out of reach from the Rapids. Kyle Beckerman scored in the 90th minute for Colorado.
Houston Dynamo 1
DC United 0
Brian Ching scored a superb bicycle kick with four minutes left to play to give Houston the win at home. Houston clinched a playoff berth with the victory. Despite the loss, DC won the Supporters’ Shield for having the best regular season record.
KC Wizards 3
Real Salt Lake 3
The tie didn’t help either club, who are fighting for a playoff spot in Major League Soccer. The draw left Kansas City tied on points with New York for fourth place in the Eastern Conference of Major League Soccer. Real Salt Lake pulled to within two points of the Colorado Rapids.
LA Galaxy 3
Chivas USA 0
Los Angeles’ slim playoff hopes were kept alive with a convincing 3-0 win over Chivas USA. Peter Vagenas, Landon Donovan, and Alan Gordon scored for the Galaxy.

FIFA 07 News - Defining Next Gen Football Gaming

FIFA 07 News - Defining Next Gen Football GamingHugues Ricour, Producer of FIFA 07 on the Xbox 360 welcomes you to his official FIFA 07 Xbox 360 blog! He is very proud to inform you that EA SPORTS is redefining football gaming. What does this mean? It means that FIFA is a # 1 priority for EA and that they wanted to answer your most important requests for Next Gen offerings:

  • Responsiveness and a great feel
  • Athletic motion and a realistic simulation
  • Football Intelligence and variability

This is why they decided 2 years ago to rebuild a completely new football game engine. It is their biggest investment in the football business to date. Developing this new generation technology took them more than 100,000 hours; the equivalent of 66,700 football matches played back to back. They firmly believe that it will set new standards and it already opens many doors for next gen gameplay.

This new technology powers FIFA 07 on Xbox 360 and is a combination of:

  • A revolutionary Animation Engine
  • A new physics engine that manages player biomechanics and ball behaviour
  • A new data driven AI system that reproduces human decision-making

This is the start of a bright future. The new FIFA engine will do for gameplay what Fight Night did for graphics on next-gen. Their goal on next-gen is to blur the line between reality and the virtual world.

Watford 3
Fulham 3

Watford were on the way to achieve their first win of the season with a comfortable two goal lead on Fulham but it all changed in the last 20 minutes when Fulham scored twice to level the game. Earlier Marlon King and Ashley Young scored goals to comfort their manager for getting three points but their defence was not able to maintain such a lead and they allowed three goals in the space of 18 minutes including an own goal also which cost them loosing precious two more points. Ashley Young scored the equaliser for Watford in the dying minutes.

Blackburn Rovers 2 Wigan Athletic 1
What a day for the substitute goalkeeper Jason Brown who saved a vital penalty to deny Wigan an equalizer and helped his side catch all three points. He was replaced at the brink of half hour when Brad Friedel was injured. Earlier Wigan had the lead but afterwards two goals from Rovers were enough to secure all three points.
Manchester United 0 Newcastle United 1
United seemed to be back on winning track as they beat Newcastle United easily by a margin of two goals. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer scored both the goals for the Red Devils. With this win United are now at top of the table and looking in good shape.

Tottenham Hotspur 2 Portsmouth 1

Portsmouth’s superb start to the season seems to have taken a step back as they were beaten by Spurs at White Hart Lane. Danny Murphy scored his first for the club which was doubled by Jermain Defoe from the spot. Pompy’s only goal came from a header by Kanu five minutes from half time. This was his fifth goal of the season but was not enough for his side to take something from the match.
West Ham United 0 Reading 1

An early goal from Seol was enough to sink Hammers who are continuously loosing matches this season and are currently at 16th spot. Seol fired home from some 25 to 30 yards out to beat Roy Carroll in the second minute of the match and for the rest of the game Reading controlled the game well and defended their one goal lead till end.

Bolton Wanderers 2
Liverpool 0
One wrong decision by the linesman helped Bolton edge in front of Liverpool in a thrilling match at the Reebok Stadium. Linesman judged that Reina had handled the ball outside the box and gave a free kick to Bolton which was fired home by Gary Speed and in the opening minutes of the second half Bolton scored their second through Campo to seal the game 2-0.
Charlton Athletic 1
Arsenal 2

A goal in each half from the Dutch midfielder Robin van Persie helped Arsenal to get a valuable three points against Charlton. Charlton were the first to score when Darren Bent scored an early goal but then it was all Arsenal who controlled the ball well and secured another away win.

Chelsea 1
Aston Villa 1

Thomas Sorensen was the hero for Villa as he saved a number of shots from the Chelsea strike force. He pulled off some unbelievable saves to help his side secure one precious point against the mighty giants of Chelsea. Didier Drogba had given Chelsea the lead which was later equalized by Gabriel Agbonlahor. With this draw Chelsea are still at top provided if Manchester United do not win their next game.
Everton 1
Manchester City 1

An injury time goal from the City helped them snatch three points from Everton in a thrilling match which ended 1-1. Andy Johnson scored his sixth goal of the season to give his side the lead which was maintained till the last minute of the match when Micah Richards came from nowhere to score the equalizer. Win could have sent Everton to 2nd spot but with this draw they are still in 5th place.

Sheffield United 2
Middlesbrough 1

Injury time goal from the Sheff Utd captain Phil Jagielka helped his side pull themselves from the foot of the table. Rob Hulse scored in the 35th minute of the match to give Sheff Utd some hope of getting some points but Aiyegbeni Yakubu equalized right at the start of second half. Now Sheff Utd are at 17th spot right under Middlesbrough who are at 16th spot.
